My Chinese skills have been growing steadily through my university classes and my self-study. However, once I got to the point where I had to have more conversational skills to pass my HSK 4 test, I decided that it was best for me to hire a native-speaking tutor for 1-on-1 lessons. The HSK 4 test requires more conversational skills that are impossible to get through self-study. Therefore, I shopped around my university for a language exchange partner.
