After what my friend, Lettie and I experienced at the home of the Yuppy Puppy breedzilla, Janet Birdsall, I vowed that I would share what can only be described as an unprofessional, nasty, arrogant, unprovoked and unacceptable treatment so that no one else makes the same mistake and uses this breedzilla!
When Lettie and I showed up we met some three women who were leaving the house. They seemed in good spirits and told us how hard it would be to pick a puppy.
Lettie and I entered the house and saw all the puppies. We were led by the Puppy Nanny to the bin where I was told to pick my puppy and to have two other choices. I picked a brown puppy with a back up of a black and white puppy in one bin. It was when I went to the second bin and stated that I did not want a white puppy and it was at that remark that Ms Birdsall began a verbal attack raising her voice and telling me "then you cannot have the brown one, I am not letting you have the brown one" because it will become a white puppy and then you will write to me in six months and want to return the dog. I told her that was alright because I loved the expression on the puppy's face and I liked the demeanor. I was nastily told that "this dog has no personality". I explained that I felt a reaction to that dog. She shut me down every time actually raising her voice and yelling at me and my friend. She was rude telling my friend, "I don't know who you are and dismissing every input my friend had". She seemed very agitated. She then began a rant about the people from Boca. We told her we were not from Boca and were from Palm Coast. When we told her we were New Yorker's, she stated "that is worse"!
She appeared to be lashing out at us for her 20 years of dealing with the public even though we had not done anything to provoke her response. We tried to reassure her that we were nice people. At no time did my friend and myself raise our voices or respond with the cruel and unkind manner to which we were treated.
She said I was not listening to her and I was not understanding the process to which she was inpatient and agitated. I told her I did not understand the process as I am told to pick out a dog with two backups although that is no guarantee that I will have a dog. There was a bin with dogs already "sold" so why could I not pick out my dog to purchase. Then I was yelled at because I could not understand that a brown puppy would become a white puppy and that a white puppy would not become brown and then white! Everything she told us was confusing and made no sense. Especially when she told us that I would have to "will" my puppy to her. That's right if I died, the puppy would have to go back to her!
In her agitation, she just decided that she would give me back my refund and ended our visitation session. I looked at the refund check and saw it was dated for Friday's date 6/19/2020 one day earlier. If she had the refund check already to go, in my opinion and the only conclusion any reasonable person could make was that she obviously had no intention of selling me any dog but let me drive two hours down and two hours back! A total wasted trip!
I told her she was making this a very unpleasant experience and we left. This exchange reduced my widowed friend who has MS to tears in the car because as she said "No one ever spoke to me like that". She was brokenhearted for me because I too lost my husband last year and this dog
Was so that I could have some company. I had already waited weeks to get to this point and now I had to start with another breeder all over again.
The behavior of this breedzilla illustrated a lack of any capacity for behavior in a professional and civilized manner. We were verbally attacked and yelled at and the bias toward us as New Yorkers is appalling!.
As this puppy was costing me $2,000, you would think we would be treated with some decency.
I left there grateful not to have to deal with this unpleasant person but are left wondering "what exactly happened?" All so bizarre!
Someone should tell this breedzilla that perhaps she should consider another line of work as this field seems to have left her a bitter, angry and most unpleasant woman.
