After working with Zamzar representatives they have now corrected their conversion process when converting an mp3 to m4a file to basically match the quality submitted. I now find this process very satisfactory.
We're glad the converted files are now the quality you are needing, and sorry again for the issues. Thanks ever so much for posting an update. The Zamzar team

I'm confused about this service. Why is the quality of your converted mp3 to m4a so ridiculously poor? The mp3s (limit 2 per day as a free user) are 320kbps, but the m4a files returned are at 32kbps. They should be at 256kbps.

Hi,
We'd love to get to the bottom of your issue - the output quality should not be 32kbps. Could you send your source files you were converting into support@zamzar.com and we will have the team investigate for you.
