About Me

I tell it like it is. If your site/service/company is trash, I will say so. If it's the greatest thing ever, I will also say so.

How I Can Help

I have an extreme urge to tell the truth. If I don't like something, I'm gonna make sure everyone knows it. If I love something, I will make that known too. I'll tell you my experiences with certain websites. What you choose to do with that information is entirely up to you. ;)

Interests

I love everything. Except raisins. I hate raisins.

The service is a nice alternative to photobucket. But the community is plagued with closed minded trolls. I never got involved with it but I have literally seen entire threads dedicated to ridiculing a person with Autism just because they are different, and that person wasn't around to defend themselves. The thing was not one person stepped in to defend that person and the post went on about 8 pages and you can actually still reply to it now despite it being around for a couple of years now. Having friends with autism (and even being on the higher functioning end myself), that really makes me sad to see that their community staff allows that to go on for so long.
That's just one example of it being extremely toxic. Most of social media is toxic but Imgur can be next-level toxic. If you want to use it just for a photobucket alternative, or to upload something like a screenshot just so you can have a link to post on your favorite forums, make sure you change your settings to "unlisted" otherwise people will not understand what you're posting there for. Because technically speaking, it's like reddit except just for pictures.
Be advised of the toxicity of that community though. If you want a friendly social interaction, go elsewhere.

You requested a review of this site... you got it.

If I were you, I'd be extra cautious of this. In fact, please avoid. The dress prices are astonishingly low - to the point of "too good to be true". And you know what they say about something being too good to be true... "it probably is".
Be careful. If you're gonna bite the bullet, make sure the service you pay with (ie: Paypal, the bank, etc) has your back in case you get scammed.
Here is a guideline that pointed me to some other suspicious things about this site:
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/scam-alert-online-wedding-dress-ripoffs/

Read this when it comes to figuring out how to protect yourself from scams. Notice the warning signs (ie: "too good to be true"), and know your schedule and budget. The last thing you want is for a wedding to be 45 days down the road and then you get scammed and now have to fight to get your money back when you could be planning for that very special event of a lifetime.
Two other peculiar things I noticed about this site are in the following sentence taken from their FAQ section: "We have a responsible and dynamic representative team to help you. Whenever you have any problem, you could send us an email or give us a call."
A. In this sentence they say "give us a call" but... there's no phone number on the site.
B. They tell you that they have responsible people on the other end. Personally what I notice is that if they have to assure you verbally that they are legit, then there is something they are trying to hide. If anything, this is their job. They should not have to tell you in words that they are gonna do what they are supposed to do. This statement can only be assured through demonstration. Unless they are hiding something... like the fact that they do not know what to do.

Lots of people are looking for love. And with the growing number of people tying the knot together and the rapidly increasing prices of everything nowadays, tight-budgeted lovers looking to tie the knot are a popular target for scammers. What they need is A). People who are in dire search of saving some money (ie: young couples getting ready to tie the know). B). An industry where everything is ridiculously expensive (like wedding dresses) and C). A platform to do it on (ie: an internet site where they need to tell you how responsible they are).
The sad truth is, wedding dresses are expensive. All things wedding-related are obviously highly expensive. So please bare in mind that dresses for under $200 is especially shady and definitely "too good to be true" at times.
Look, I'm no wedding dress expert. I'm just a young family man who uses sitejabber to help other people know where to shop and where not to shop, as I finish my 5th plate of Mozzarella sticks. But I have relatives who were scammed on these sites before thinking they would get a bargain but instead they got scammed. This site shares similar traits to the ones my friends and relatives were scammed on. I would avoid this particular site just because the prices are alarmingly low.

My final advice for you: If the site you wanna buy your dress on has no customer reviews, please treat it as "no news = bad news" and avoid it. Please don't risk it.

Hope this helps :)

  • Yahoo

If you wanna take a trip back to 2007, just use yahoo.com. Unfortunately, I still use it as my primary email only because I been using the same email with 40,900+ unread emails in it for 12 years. Would be a pain to change everything over now.
Here is my issues - they filter certain things that aren't spam. But then some stuff that is actual spam ends up in my inbox. Example: "Hey cutie... wanna have a little fun?" passes the filters. Yeah umm... no. I don't wanna have fun. I look like a drunken Irish troll. But thanks anyway. But "Your receipt for your purchase to sitename.com" ends up in the spam folder. Why... just why? Lol.
Oh and don't get me started on the "We're experiencing Technical difficulties. Error -14". Yeah I can't load my inbox because of that. I went 5 whole days without being able to check my email because of these "technical difficulties". Yeah I think their brains are having technical difficulties.
There are also a lot of snotty commenters on the news section. A lot of the people are very ignorant. The place is infested with trolls. If you view the news section, I'd advise against commenting on anything. You will get 50 trolls tell you to drink bleach or something. Pretty bad. You can go view the comments... because some are pretty entertaining. You may even learn a few new jokes from it. But don't get involved. Stay out of it. It's a firestorm.
The search engine is obviously not great. Google is and always will be the best.

  • Apple

12/21/16

I switched from Microsoft to Apple in 2009. Nearly 8 years later, I am still a mac user & do not plan on going back to windows anytime soon. I have Mac Mini, and 3 Macbook Pros. Honestly one thing I love about macs is they are very sturdily built. I once had a Dell laptop... until my little infant niece threw a teething ring at it & shattered my Dell's screen. Let's just say the impact was very light, but apparently still too hard for that plastic piece of garbage some people tend to call a computer.
Apple Macs though? Why my goodness I've had my macbook pro for 3 years... it's been to college with me, it's traveled around the world with me.
Oh & if you want much more reliable speed, buy a mac. Yes, it's worth the money.
Apple's customer service? Well they seem to be a little too passive aggressive sometimes. But they get the job done & if they can't help you, then they can't help you. Sure, most of them don't speak english but they will help you if you need it.
I have a closet filled with computer parts. I call it "The PC Cemetery". These are from computers that broke or failed over the years. There are also whole laptops in there that at some point decided to just magically die on my desk one day. Do you know how many Apple products are in my PC Cemetery? Zero. ZERO! You know why? Because they were built to last, not magically croak on me during a project.

But I'm not letting Apple off the hook that easily...

Apple's business practices are super questionable. Since when do you get rid of the Headphone jack... in an iPhone? I mean it's bad enough I gotta listen to kids blasting their trashy hip hop music from their speakers. Now I can't tell them to put some headphones on... because they have an iPhone 7 or higher. What company... ditches a headphone jack? Apple is a company who, when making a newer version of a product, discretely removes more features than it adds. And most of the features they add are inessential to the casual user.
Also let's not forget about the new Operating systems every year. Hurray! Here is the most improved version of iOS & OSX! We added 5 "new" features & changed the default wallpaper! There it is, this is the future! With this technology, we will be able to colonize deep space & travel back in time to the Triassic era! Behold... macOS Sierra. Feast your sights.
Yes Apple that's nice. You spend more time developing these new operating systems. You could introduce many more features.
The way I see it, when Steve Jobs died, he took Apple with him. Sure, I still love their products (well some of them). But let's face it... If Tim Cook was the founder of Apple they wouldn't have squat worth selling.

Heavy delays. I bought something for $4.99 on 4/09/17. I didn't get it until 4/30/17... 3 weeks later. It was a downloadable product. I only got it because I hounded them on the status of my order. It was supposed to be immediate download delivery via email. Yeah I highly advise against it.

  • Lunss

3/22/18

Site Jabber user Lesly M. Had requested a review of this site. So I decided to investigate. Here is what I found.

Lunss appears to be fully legit. I have seen plenty of users who loved their dresses bought from Lunss. They offer a variety of payment options, and also have a customer service line that is easily accessible. Their trustpilot score is 7.1/10 (one unhappy customer can be seen complaining that the dress was too small while the other reviewers gave 5 stars). Even a reddit user has shown pictures of her wearing her dress and how excited she was.
The prices also don't look "too good to be true". They are within reason. They do take a while to ship. Even if you pay an extra $70 or so to rush it, it will still take nearly 3 weeks to arrive at your location. So if you're going to order it, make sure your prom/wedding/pageant/etc is at least 8-10 weeks from now. Don't wait until the event is like 2 weeks from now before you buy from here. It will take almost a month before it even gets to you. But that's because each product is apparently handmade. They need time to make your item and also process it and make sure it's ready just the way you want it. So it is extremely important to be careful with timing!

Hope this helps, Lesly! :)

These guys have some fantastic products! I have a fossil watch & a fossil pair of sunglasses, and bought some clothes there too. I get compliments on them all the time. People love them. I went to a job interview brandishing a fossil watch & a vest I bought there. My interviewer said "I like your watch, what brand is it?" I told him "Fossil... the same brand that makes this vest." He said "Wow that's cool I'll have to go there sometime". Yes, I did get the job.

  • Tinder

3/13/18

If you're like me and you have severe social anxiety, you've probably tried Tinder or some other online dating app.
Hey look, Tinder is good for hookup culture. If you wanna find a guy/girl to hookup with and then forget about, this is the app for you. BUT... if you're on Tinder looking for true love, or looking for that soulmate, I would highly recommend looking for that elsewhere. You're essentially... erm... looking for love in all the wrong places. It's amazing what you can find when you approach people in person. The initial attraction is authentic.

And even if you do find romance on Tinder, it's not the good kind. It's the dead end kind. In most cases (And I said most, not all, before you get offended) of couples/matches who are made on Tinder, one of you usually ends up having some kind of emotional baggage that will one day rear its ugly head somewhere down the road. The result is seldom "happy ever after".

If you're afraid to meet people in person, I suggest talking to friends more often. Letting yourself go around people you feel comfortable with. Start by saying hello to someone you walk by on the street. You don't have to have a casual conversation, just say hello and smile. Preferably not someone you find attractive. This will increase your anxiety. Start by this and feeling more confident in yourself. But you won't find real love on Tinder or any online dating app. If anything, this will make things worse for your lonesome.

I just thought I'd put this out there for anyone who feels insecure or has anxiety, looking for REAL love, and is thinking of using Tinder. Plenty of people on Tinder anxious to find a real romance but I hate to break it to you, it's a false promise. Your chances of finding this on any online dating app are extremely slim.

  • Audio Jungle

I am an author for these guys. I sell stock music thru them. Here's my problem - these guys have a rejection system set in place that goes as the following when you submit a song:
Soft rejected: This is when your track has minor flaws & they will suggest you how to improve it... therefore it is temporarily rejected until you fix the errors.
Hard rejected: This is when your track has many critical errors or there is simply not a market for it. If your track is hard rejected you cannot resubmit it.

The problem I have is that they tend to hard reject songs simply because they are too lazy to figure out the minor problems with it. Matter of fact, some of my tracks were amazing, but still got hard rejected without explanation. They will hard reject it but say they don't have an explanation. If it was rejected, then there must have been a reason for it... but how was it not stated? This is very questionable & therefore makes me wonder if these guys are just being pricks. I try to produce something different but they somehow wanna stick to the same old crap. You notice this because most of the songs on their site, sound the same. It's the same old sounds: ukulele & whistles & glockenspiels with a piano overlay, with some claps. Or it's guitar harmonics music (like in corporate commercials). Yeah it's what sells but allowing new trends to be followed is not always a bad idea.
Then when I wanna go back to try & find a song I once found on there in 2014 but I never purchased, there is a 60 page limit for searches. What is the last item on the 60th page in your search, is the farthest back it will go. So it only went back to 2015 because of such broad search functions. This is a shame because that means they're not showing you everything when you're searching for the perfect track.
I wouldn't recommend this site. Matter of fact, I'd highly advise staying away. Try premiumbeat.com. They have a smaller catalog but they have some NICE tracks for your commercials. You'll be in heaven... because they know quality is better than quantity. Audiojungle tries to emulate that but in turn just shows tunnel vision ignorance. Trying to sway you in their own direction. Yeah that's business but over time they hurt themselves with this.
So yeah... premiumbeat.com is where I'd visit if you want stock music that doesn't stink.

It's yet another site waging war on Adblocker. I found plenty of useful information on this site so it was worth turning off my adblocker for it. It also gave me about 10 seconds to view the site before it asked me to turn off the adblocker. Normally this drives me away very quickly but because the site had some useful information I didn't mind whitelisting this website in my adblocker.
Business insider has some cool information. I use it for some of my college research papers (it is a credible source of information). I learned a lot of things from BI. Hopefully they'll learn to find another way to make money off their site instead of advertisements though.

  • theCHIVE

3/13/18

Look, I don't have a problem turning off my adblocker for sites - as long as the ads don't make my computer run slower. But the reason I use an adblocker is because it makes sites cleaner and faster. I'm a clean freak at heart. I don't wanna see a big diarrhea fest of ads when I just wanna read an article. But some ads can be harmless and the site still runs fine on its own. Then there's the Chive. Yeah the ads make the site almost completely unusable. It runs smoothly until I turn off my adblocker as it requests.

Leave adblocker alone. We don't care if you make money from ads. You can find some more CPU-friendly ads that don't hog up my CPU and make the page unreadable. If you can't do that, find another way to invest in your site. It's the 2018 not 1995. Get creative. But forcing us to turn off our adblockers? Not good. That's how you REALLY lose visitors.
More and more people are using adblockers and are passionate about such. I'm not advocate for the global population but I'm pretty sure most people who unpack a new computer aren't opening their browser and racing over to log onto thechive.com to see what's new there. But I'm sure a lot of people will go right on over to install adblocker. That's the first thing I do in my web browser when I get a new computer.

To the people at TheChive.com - you can make us dismantle our adblockers. But we will find another site to go to. Ad-block will be a thing whether you go out of business or not, and whether you wage war on it or not.

I suggest letting the user visit it for 30 seconds to see if it's worth whitelisting it or not. After 30 seconds of being on the site, ask us to whitelist it. But don't force it. This turns off more visitors than you think.

Just my 2 cents.

Their payment plans are very flexible. When I was still trying to establish some credit history (because I had none), these guys still approved my pay as you play application for a Universal Audio Apollo Twin Solo. They are also very enthusiastic & understanding. When I couldn't make a payment in time for the deadline, I called them up to tell them what my problem was & they understood. No, there was no late fee. They just said "Ok thanks for telling us".
If you can't make a payment, just tell them. They will understand. But whatever you do, don't blow them off. If you're having a rough time getting the money for your payment, call them up & just let them know. The sooner you do so, the better it makes you look in their eyes, and the more likeliness you will have of getting approved for another payment plan with them.

Oh and to make matters worse, their ads make my browsing experience terribly slow. If you like your ad blocker, this site is a waste of time. Avoid at all costs.

Tampons, perfume, nail polish, makeup, high heels, etc. Where's the stuff for guys? What about men's cologne, shoes, clothes, etc? I'm sorry to point out this stuff but someone has to. I know how to shop (surprising for a guy, I know), & your site has the most shallow catalog of stuff I ever seen. Keep up the amazing work. LOL

  • Match

12/20/16

But with the same questionable flow of things. You gotta pay to use it... you can't have a profile picture with sunglasses. If you wanna talk to anyone on there, you won't unless you pay them $$. Like most of the internet, there are also fake profiles on there... a significant amount of fake profiles. They are galore. They will eat you up & spit you out.
And like I said with zoosk... most of the people you will meet there will have some sort of emotional baggage that will rear it's ugly head somewhere down the road. Just stay away from that site.
Most people are flocking to Tinder lately, anyways.
One can argue, "Just go out & find your soulmate in person. They ain't gonna come knocking at your door. Ditch the couch for a little while & go make some friends." Well if you're an INFJ like me, then you should know this isn't always an easy task. But you can break these barriers & overcome your shyness. It's very hard to do, but it's very possible if you practice it enough. Just look for ways to believe in yourself. Look for things to love about yourself. If you can't do it, ask someone else (who you trust). If you trust no one, then being on an online dating website is the last thing you should be doing... because it's fishier than a McDonald's fillet-o-fish.

Look, you're paying $20 a year to have your albums published. Seems a little too good to be true, right? Yeah well that's because it is.

You will have a tough time making a lot of money through this service. I would highly recommend sticking with CD baby.

  • Bing

7/9/17

Google. The only people who use bing are ones who log into their work computer, perform a web search and then realize they forgot that bing is their default search engine. I typed "Google" into bing so many times it's not even funny. When that many people are going to you to find out where your competitors are, that's when you know your product is terrible. I'd say that is epic failure in itself.
Bing has a terrible safe search toggle. If you toggle it off, it brings up porn. With safe search off, you can search for "bananas" and it will bring up some, you know... you use your imagination for that. If you search for "printer paper" you'll probably find some guy putting something into a printer that's not in the slightest bit paper. Toggling off safe search in bing shows the strong truth to rule 34. If you don't know what rule 34 is, look it up. Just make sure you don't look it up with bing.
My deaf dog can answer my questions better than Bing can.

  • Facebook

12/20/16

It's good for getting in touch with your friends. But not for making new ones.
Oh & be careful of people who report your posts. If you say something that makes someone upset, whether it was intentional or not, they will side with the person who reports your post. Even if it's something harmless, you could very well get banned. A friend of mine was once called a racial slur by some racist white supremacist lady. She said it to him out of nowhere. She just messaged him saying "How do n**** like you still exist". So he told her where to go. But then she got angry, & reported his profile picture... which btw was just a picture of his face smiling innocently at the camera. There was nothing else in the picture other than the plain white wall behind him. Facebook decided to remove his profile picture & ban him for 60 days. 60 DAYS! For what? Nothing. They just decided to be jerks & listen to the "offended" lady. So there's Facebook for you.

  • Planet Fitness

12/19/16

Well I don't have any bad experiences here like the ones most of you have. I'm just here to roast the current business practices they are known for.
So you know that method where they only allow EFT payment method? Yeah about that. Did you know that less & less people are using bank accounts, and more are switching to things like Bluebird, GreenDot, etc? Well if you don't have a bank account, you are not welcome at planet fitness.
I had a membership there. And there are signs everywhere & every one of them says the same things "You belong!" "Judgement free zone!"
But since when does it become judgment free when you are called out by an alarm system for dropping weights? Since when are you tossed out for being in shape & just trying to better yourself? "Ma'am you have to leave. You're doing too well on that ab workout that you're intimidating the lady eating an XXL pizza on the bench press." That right there is judgment, just not in the same sense as most other gyms. It's a passive aggressive form of it, and directed to the opposite side of the coin.
And the drinks are wicked expensive. $5 for a muscle milk? I pay less than that for the same bottle of muscle milk at the gas station.
Oh and don't use the locker rooms if there is a senior citizens event. I found out the hard way that there was a senior citizens trip taking place... by walking into a bunch of naked old men getting out of the shower. My mind was scarred for life. Lol

  • eBay

7/8/16

EBay closed my seller account today and said they thought my account "was a risk to the community". Before they decided to do that, they asked me to provide documents stating who I was & proof of the products purchased because I had a spike in sales.
Just to clear some things up - here's a few things you should know:
-I had no negative ratings on my account.
-I was selling some of my music software that I no longer use.
-They asked me the other day for my photo ID, my bank statements, & receipts for my purchases. Everything went smoothly & I proved to them I am legit.
My customer satisfaction ratings were just about perfect. Only one neutral rating and ZERO negative ratings. But *dozens* of positive reviews.
-A portion of my proceeds went to charity. If I was really a risk, I think I would be taking the money all to myself, no? My account was built on a good cause & my customers has nothing but good things to say about me & the service I provided to them.

Now they want me to pay them $145 in seller fees, even though I can no longer sell anything. Yet they want me to compensate them. The reason for this closing I think is out of fear because I was really successful even though I was just starting out. When a new guy comes along with a lot to offer, not everybody is okay with that.
I called them up & they said I cannot appeal my account removal. I also cannot get an english speaking person for the life of me. Literally every time I call them, it's a chinese 13 year old girl whose name I can never understand. But the company is based in San Jose, CA right? I literally never had a proper english speaking customer support representative answer my calls. I've been on the phone with them numerous times, too. I know very well what people their workplace consists of. In fact they're so asian oriented, I bet they eat dogs for breakfast & cats for dinner.
I highly recommend avoiding this company like the plague. If you have any form of success at an early stage, they will remove your selling benefits. I allege that these guys were committed to bringing me down for whatever reason.

Tip for consumers:
Don't use them. Go for something like eBid or something. Anything is better than them. It just doesn't get any more inconvenient for you as a customer to sell or buy thru them. Especially if you're just starting out. They have a "Funds availability" program where you have to sell at least 25 items before you can get your money. Which is understandable for them. But when you graduate from it, there's a lot more behind the curtain & they will stop at nothing to make your experience a hassle for yo
