I booked two tickets for a flight from Washington to South Africa. Since the flight is 20 hours, I purchased two tickets to have room on the flight. Before I purchased the tickets, I confirmed with South African Air that this was acceptable for me to do. I used my name for both tickets. When I checked my reservation a few hours after booking, I noticed that only one ticket was assigned a seat. The entire point of purchasing two tickets for myself was to have two seats together. I tried to find a way to contact support, but there is NO SUPPORT. First, I contacted the airline directly to see if they could fix it. They said the travel agent would have to adjust the seats and gave my an 800 number for the agent to call to fix it. So I called the reservation hotline, explained my problem several times. And the agent suggested I cancel the tickets. I told him NO I don't want to cancel, I want to have the tickets I purchased at the price I paid, all he had to do was contact SAA and fix the issue. He asked me to hold, came back and told me he had cancelled the tickets. I said I didnt give you permission to cancel the tickets, I wanted the correct seats. I asked for a supervisor and he hung up on me. I called back and spoke with a supervisor, she explained their system did not allow one passenger to book two seats. I asked why their website didn't state this, and why the form allowed me to put the same name in twice if they couldn't do it. I asked why no one contacted me to inform me of this, I only figured it out myself. She told me my only option was to purchase a better class ticket or to deal directly with the airline. So, it has been 10 days and I still have not received the credit back to my card. All they had to do was call the airline at the number SAA provided and adjust my reservation. Instead, they cancelled my ticket without permission and I'm still waiting for a refund two weeks later. Luckily, I purchased the extended cancellation policy, because after reading these other reviews it is clear they would have charged me a much higher cancellation fee, even though this agent cancelled it without my permission and the cancellation was made within hours of the reservation. Apparently, I'm going to have to eat the $40 for the extended cancellation fee, even though I DID NOT CANCEL THE TICKETS, the agent did without my permission. I just pray I get the rest of the money back soon so I can order my tickets through the airline. Please avoid this company if you value your money. If you want to toss your money in the trash, I recommend justfly!
