I went to this company for t-shirt screen printing. Their FAQ section says 6-10 business days turnaround, or more, it depends. After 3 weeks or so of getting in touch, they say they will send me photos asap, but didn't received any. So I decided to open a dispute with PayPal, then I get an email from them saying it's already in production but it's actually in queue (so it's not yet in production clearly), and said it'll be done by this specific date. That date passed and no update, instead a refund of my down payment. That could only mean that my order was still in queue, for almost a month.

If you are going to have business with them, ask ETA of your order to be included in the invoice. Or you'll be kept in the dark.

I went to Laughing Monkey Labs for a custom 3D printed license plate after seeing their service in Etsy.

I paid Thomas for the 3D file of my project, which I thought was a premium. He delivered in just a couple of hours which I thought was worth it. But when it came to the day after I paid and he said he's to print it that same day, on the second day he said their printer malfunctioned and I asked if I can wait or he can just refund the printing payment. I was expecting it was already printed the day I paid it.

I don't expect a good company to instantly say they'd refund your payment without trying to sort things out first. That is shady. So if you are thinking of having a custom service with this company, beware.

I am sorry I just do not see your issue still. I told you that I could get your print on the printer the day you paid, which I did do and the print failed overnight. I have to wait for parts to repair the printer so I offer you the options of waiting until the printer was repaired or a refund so you could get it printed quicker someplace else. I really don't see anything "shady" about that and doubt any other right-thinking person would either. I asked you what I needed to do to make you a happy customer. To which you refuse to reply and write this. Which makes little sense, just like the emails from you on this day. You asked if you can wait or just give you a refund? I thought me offering those options is what was shady but you say you asked for them.

Our large printer that these will fit on has malfunctioned and we are in the process of troubleshooting with the manufacturer. It may be a few days before I will be able to print this plate cover. Would you like to wait or I can refund you for the print and you can take that file to another print service?"

"I feel ripped off because you shouldn’t tell me that you’re going to refund my money that instant after having this malfunction issue. I expect you are to do your best to sort the issue out.
I paid the 3D rendering and expected a printed result. I expected it already got printed yesterday after I paid. And you waited a day before telling the issue, that’s why it feels I got ripped off.
Now how am I sure that if I ise another company that I will received the result I’m expecting.
