4/18/19

I went to Modern Toyota on 4/1/18 for my 22,500 mile service. It took an hour and a half which would be okay if they did what they said. I was in the waiting area when the service advisor came and told me that the mechanic found a nail in my tire and because of the location of the puncture, it was irreparable. I thought this was strange since the "low tire pressure" warning light didn't come and those things come on if you look at them funny. The service advisor also told me that the other three tires are worn and would need to be replaced soon. She said that replacing all four tires now would be the way to go rather than replacing just the one in order to avoid driving on uneven tires. They didn't have the tires in stock so I drove home on a spare tire. Replacing all four tires in this instance makes sense, or it would if my tire actually had a hole in it and was actually leaking air. I was very suspicious of the service advisor and ignored her call the following day when she called to let me know the tires were in. I drove on my spare for a little over a week then checked the pressure in the tire that I had in the trunk. The gauge read 35 psi on the dot. The service advisor had looked me straight in the eye and flat out lied to me in an effort to sell me tires. Now that I knew the tire wasn't losing air, I decided to put the non-leaking tire back on my car. Unfortunately the key for the wheel locks was missing. They had forgotten to put the key back in my car so I had to drive forty minutes in each direction to go back to the dealership and get the key. An hour and a half later when I got back home, I removed the spare tire and noticed the retaining screws that were holding the drum in place. They had pink lines drawn across their center, extending to the drum on both sides of the screw. The lines on the screws match perfectly with the lines on the drum indicating the drum has never been removed. Each time I've gone in for service, the dealership has given me a printout showing what they did and the printout clearly states that they checked the brakes. Now how can they possibly have checked the brakes when at least one drum has never been removed? Again, they lied. When I finally got the full size tire back on the car, I noticed the centerpiece of the wheel with the Toyota emblem was missing. God only knows what possessed the mechanic to remove the centerpiece from the wheel since it's not required to remove the wheel from the car, but he forgot to put it back on. So now I'm driving around with a missing centerpiece on one of my wheels because I'm surely not going to drive all the way to Modern Toyota again to get it back.
The mistakes I can tolerate. I make plenty of those myself. The lying and conning however is unacceptable.
