I don't know if this is still the case but a while back, I got a text at 5:30AM on a Saturday morning from this company saying your friend invited you to view her album. I thought this was a scam first I hadn't seen this person in several years and second how did this random app get my phone number? So later I send my friend a message since I thought someone had hacked her account and sent her a screen shot of what I was sent. Well apparently she signed up for this service and they accessed her phone contacts and sent text messages. I tried to find out who was responsible for this and the company reps were useless. I threatened legal action and to contact the FTC since I did not give them permission to contact me and I was on the do not call list.

After that I will never use their products.

  • Everything But The House

So for my review I've had smaller items shipped to my house, I've gone to a warehouse to pick up items, and I've picked up items directly at a seller's residence. I once had a large piece delivered locally which was probably the least user friendly experience mainly because 1. It took so long and 2. They only notified me the day of that they were going to bring the piece. So they left the large furniture item on my front porch, thankfully it was a covered porch.

Picking up items at a seller's home has been the easiest although generally I've only purchased items I could carry out on my own and that could fit in my car. Keep in mind if you're doing this the staffing at these sales are minimal and you're expected to carry out your own stuff or bring your own help. Also once I bought several glasses, you need to bring your own boxes/packing items just FYI they don't provide this either. Once I picked up at a warehouse where there was a surcharge for picking up these items, these weren't particularly user friendly either since the signage at these pick-ups weren't very clear, and I had to walk a fair distance in the warehouse to pick up my item. Although they were small furniture items it was still a bit of a trek carrying something a bit cumbersome. Also if there is a pick up surcharge generally the charge is applied to each item won so be sure you read the fine print when bidding.

Some items I've had shipped and again its been mixed results. For fragile items such as glass there have been two instances where some damage has occurred. Thankfully for one of the items the outside of the box was partially torn when I got home, so I did take pictures of the outside of the box. Once I opened the box several items were damaged inside which I was sure to take pictures of those items as well. I was expecting a pro-rated refund of the shipping of just the damaged items, but they refunded the entire shipping costs. Although I was still a bit disappointed given the poor packing of this particular purchase. Other fragile items have arrived no problem so its been a mixed bag.

I've tried many of them eharmony, match, and POF with varying degrees of success. Thankfully there weren't any safety issues but some of the dates just didn't work out. That's just the way it goes. With POF, I actually met someone who I married almost 2 years ago. Again my expectation was quite low, but for being a free site I figured I had nothing to lose and also knowing how to be safe when meeting someone for the first time was something I was well versed in. Thankfully the guy I met who is my husband turned out to be an amazing person who I eventually fell in love with although it wasn't until a few dates in that I let him know my actual address. Its a mixed bag with dating sites but my best advice is to follow your gut, if its giving you concern then walk away.

  • Poshmark

Initially I had a good experience with Poshmark, their platform is pretty user friendly if you're a seller. I've had some concerns because of a few things, the amount of people selling "inspired" or being out right scammers is disturbing and makes things difficult if you're selling actual legitimate items. Even when you report this through the poshmark app it seems as if they don't do anything which is incredibly frustrating.

The second issue I have is when you're dealing with a buyer issue, they are pretty much non-responsive to any input the seller has. I can understand wanting to protect buyers but considering that Poshmark takes a 20% cut from their sellers, as sellers we're also consumers too. I've had too many issues as of late and have quit using poshmark to sell my gently used items. I'd rather donate them and get the take write off then having to deal with these people who don't care. And good luck getting an actual person to contact you as there's no info on their website.

I agree that these people are a total scam, they tried to tell me oh you'd meet all of these great guys, they are screened. They play into your insecurities. Avoid these people at all costs total rip-off boardering on fraud.
