I signed up with the goal of accessing a sea of investors that might be interested in investing in our robotic vision company. I paid for a month to month subscription, and built out the "business plan" the "EquityNet" way.
The resulting business plan and metrics was not impressive at all. They feature graphs that look dated, highlighting metrics they claim of are interest to investors. If your pro forma looks out three years, you will have to make up numbers for a fourth because otherwise their graphs all drop to zero after year three. Somehow, they even created a headcount graph but I never saw where the data came from as I didn't provide it. It was horribly wrong.
I reached out to customer support to try to get a better sense how to use the system more effectively, but that never got a response. However, I did get several emails offering to sell consulting services to me.
I also realized that they provide a log of activity on their system as I saw our company's profile appear. This also revealed that it might be weeks between any activity occurring on their site, which tells me it isn't heavily used by either companies or investors.
Taken as a whole, setting up our profile to conform with their format took 1-2 days, and the activity log not only revealed that only one individual had even looked at our profile, but that not much goes on on this site anyway. And add to that the total lack of customer support to endure MRR continues told me that this is a poor investment. Maybe if you engage their consulting ($2K or so) something magical will happen. But as a career tech business guy and a previous SaaS company owner, this is not a great experience.
