As a buyer you can find some amazing deals on TRR, but I would advise to buy clothes only and only purchase items in Very Good condition or above. I have mostly bought Excellent and Pristine items and while a couple pieces were as described, the majority of the items had some minor flaws upon closer inspection. This doesn't bother me as I bought the items knowing that they are used and are at a cheaper price point, but I know this would be an issue for some prospective customers. I've only bought one Very Good condition item and it was in better condition than I expected, although I've heard/read reviews where people have been disappointed with items rated as Very Good and Good.

I've tried to consign with them once and I wasn't happy with the experience. Luckily I was able to have my item shipped back to me promptly.

Last note I wish their shipping wasn't so high, but I guess their low prices make up for it.

Not sure what all the 1 star reviews are about.

I started out using Poshmark to sell some designer items. I really didn't like it and preferred Tradesy as there were less lowballers on Tradesy and I was able to upload nicer photos on that platform. Not to mention you are unable to view/give feedback to buyers. One thing I will say is that despite the abundance of lowballers, Poshmark doesn't hold your money hostage (unlike Tradesy) and payment is pretty straightforward.

Lately I've been using Poshmark to buy gently used clothing. I personally haven't sent any offers to sellers but I've been able to score some really good deals on high end and designer clothing. The prices are sometimes better than TheRealReal and eBay! A lot of the people there are just desperate to sell things from their closets and all my sellers have been professional and helpful.

I still prefer eBay but I'm slowly warming up to Poshmark.

This company processes orders asap and go above and beyond with customer service. The shipping is slow from the UK to US but they are so accommodating and willing to help. I will definitely buy from them in the future in case I need contact lenses.

Chanel is expensive but I can't help but love their perfumes and lipsticks; plus who doesn't love free shipping? I order from them a couple times every year and it always feels like I'm getting a present in the mail. Everything is always wrapped impeccably and I always get a couple samples in a cute baggy. There have been a couple times I have had samples that I requested go missing and their customer service will always goes above and beyond in sending me some.

Their website is a bit of a pain to use on mobile but otherwise it's fun to view the latest bags and ready to wear. Note that you can only buy sunglasses and cosmetics online; you need to go in person to buy their bags, jewelry, and clothing.

  • Tradesy

I've sold on Tradesy for almost 3 years to get rid of luxury purses I no longer used from my private collection. At first it was wonderful. I got paid after 4 days (none of this wait 20-30 day BS), the commission wasn't insanely high, and the customer service was great. Plus I liked that I didn't have to worry about returns, although no one returned the stuff that I sold; I had buyers tell me that they loved the items and thought I was overly critical with the condition. Unfortunately Tradesy took a turn for the worse after they started losing money from returns due to high volume sellers who would overstate the actual condition of their products; I know because they're the exact same sellers I'd buy from on eBay. As a result, Tradesy was forced to raise their commission rates and hold private sellers' money hostage for several weeks/months at a time in order to gain interest. Oh, and as far as their original policy that sellers didn't have to deal with returns? Completely gone now. Customer Service reps are now forced to lie to sellers about where their money is. Meanwhile the big sellers (the ones who screwed over private sellers and Tradesy) don't have the same issues; they still enjoy the original commission and don't have to wait weeks to get paid out.

Tradesy closed my account but frankly I don't care. Poshmark and Vestiaire Collective aren't perfect either but at least they don't hold sellers' money hostage and their commission rates haven't changed significantly. With the amount Tradesy is charging and the possibility of being forced to accept returns, private sellers are better off selling on eBay (which has the lowest selling fees) or straight up do consignment.

Awful site, I don't recommend them to anyone.

  • Zenni Optical

Yeesh, where do I begin? I ordered sunglasses from their company late last summer which was all fine and good until one of the lens popped out of the frame a couple months later. Since I was already past the warranty, I didn't qualify for a refund, plus I was aware on reddit that this company is stubborn about that. Needless to say I was able to pop the lens into the frame and still use them, despite the fact that the defective lens would pop out on and off occasionally.

A few days ago when I had my sunglasses on the defective lens not only popped out but after many months of stress on the frame, the frame broke on the side, too! I was so irate. So, I wrote a review harping on the bad quality. Zenni contacted me as a result of this review and advised me that I should contact their customer care to get a refund as they would make an exception for me. Ok...

I didn't want to call so I sent an email as directed (with the order number as directed) and one of their representatives from China (because this company is too cheap) told me that I was already past the warranty and I was pretty much SOL, although she stated that I should feel free to purchase another pair. What?! At that point I was pissed. I sent her screenshots of the messages Zenni sent me which indicate they made an exception for me.

I just found out today that instead of issuing a refund, this same crazy representative reordered the same sunglasses AND reiterated that this was an exception! I don't want your horrible sunglasses and I never said I wanted a replacement! Where in my message from Zenni did it say that I should get a replacement pair? But I guess that's cheaper for them instead of giving my money back.

Buyer beware. You get what you pay for both in product quality AND CUSTOMER SERVICE. They're fine if you have no issues but should you EVER have issues with what you received, it's going to be an absolute nightmare working with them.

Verified purchase

I don't know how anyone could rate August Vintage less than 5 stars. Jonathan over delivers and his gems are nothing short of amazing. I highly recommend buying from August Vintage. I will definitely be a repeat customer!

It's a scam business when you want to sell with them, don't ever do that. They take your item out...
