More and more apps are using sms text messaging to cell phones as a way to add functionality to a service or platform. Their prices are so very reasonable and I can see many developers using this soon. I was working on an app that sends a warning to a users cell phone when the freezer temperature drops below a certain threshold ( important for freezing vaccines and other medical storage) and having that feature is something that would make the app 100X more useful. Adding that feature using this api is easy and cheap and it is just a matter of time before this really catches on. Take a look at their prices too... dirt cheap.

Great little site on where to find local auctions by zip code or by where you live but I am not sure if the local auctions are all legitimate. They do not seem to screen them and just list many local auctions. Still a great place to find cheap local auctions and real goods. Better then these so called fake penny auctions but requires much more work going to a local auction and buying what you want for cheap.

I'm not too sure why the good people over at dragon with all of their speech recognition software have not done something like this yet. Being able to embed all of your speech in a video as text so it becomes searchable on google has to be extremely valuable.

Nice to see some competition come to skype and its near dominance of the future of video conferencing. I like gmail video chat and all but that will never be available on my iphone or ipad so I will doubtfully ever use it. Vidyo is banking on everyone going the way of the iphone and ipad for its video conferences while skype has partnered with cisco and their tablet for enterprise. Big companies are more likely to go with a cisco/skype product that can be custom tailored to its needs rather than the limited ipad, but I guess only time will tell. Certainly most employees these days carries around sleek iphones and never want to part with them. Once dec 2010 rolls around with the new ipad with a camera then the game will be on!

Great low cost tool for enabling many users to work together on project development. Good at tracking bugs as well. I can see what so many companies use this application for project management.

Looking for cheap porn downloads for your favorite stars this is an awesome site and I know you all want to check it out. The cheap monthly rates are definitely worth and message me if you want more info on this site as I shouldn't really write any more about it here.

  • Xomba

Maybe some people have made money writing online but that is always a little tricky. I think most of the money goes to the sites that offer these services to writers. They are the real winners. But out of all of the sites that do this at least xomba claims to give about 50% of the ad revenue to the writer. But it is tough to really tell if they are really going to do that or not. Would be nice to be able to install an independent page counter or your own google ad words on the site to hold them accountable. Xomba is still a decent service and deserves to be in my work at home list of websites.

  • Bartab.webtab

More bars and clubs need to start using bartab or webtab so guys can more easily pick up on girls using this service. Screw foursquare... that is useless to meet people at bars. Bartab you can wink at a girl and buy her a drink all through your iphone. Even if you are using a droid phone you can virtually buy a girl a drink even before going to a bar.

  • CauseOn

This is a groupon clone site that has daily deals, bargains and coupons for the masses. The difference is this site claims to give a portion to charity and as such hopes to become more viral as people want to give back. Groupon could just copy this idea if causeon does do a good job.

We all have seen these blue shuttles taking people to and from the airport and they are a pretty good deal. Let me tell you the problem I had using it and maybe it can help you have a better experience with them. I tried for an hour to buy a ticket online and for some reason it wouldn't go through, but it took my credit card. I then called them and the lady on the phone was very nice and I paid using my credit card to make the reservation. She kept saying if I pay now rather than to the driver, I would get 2 dollars off the ticket. While 2 dollars isn't much, it is better than nothing, so I said sure. I get an email confirmation and I am thinking all is good. When I get off the plane and go to the supershuttle booth they say "where is your voucher?" I say voucher? I paid online. They give me a look of confusion. They insist on a voucher or they won't let me on the bus or I need to pay again. 30 min later after numerous phone calls to management they find I did indeed pay in advance and did not need a voucher. Moral of the story, if you use Supershuttle DO NOT PAY IN ADVANCE! Make the reservation and just pay when you get there like everyone else.

Okay, how often in the history of sitejabber have you guys seen so many positive reviews within a 24 hour period on a single website. Just a LITTLE suspicious if you ask me. I will stop flagging them as spam because I think we can all read between the lines...

And on yelp they are giving away ipads for good reviews. I wonder if that violates yelps terms and conditions... someone should email yelp...

  • USACredit

Usa credit is one of those companies that tries to get you credit when you have none. Do a search online for usa credit and you will come up with dozens of people who say they paid $149.95 and they lost that money to usa credit when they gave them their bank information. Then again, credit cards are never really free and I do understand that. AMEX cards cost money, the problem is this particular credit card does not have a VC or MC symbol on it. You are probably better off with prepaid credit cards if you need that type of card. If you are trying to establish credit this probably isn't the best route to do that.

  • Tvonpc

I like how they advertise that their software download is virus free... and of course only costs $49.95 for what they call unlimited free internet TV. Watching movies or online tv for free but of course only after you pay them $49 dollars is just a waste of your hard earned money.

First of all just read this article here which describes how there really is no such things as premium free internet tv.

http://www.pcworld.com/article/*******/movie_download_scams.html

It describes how you pay websites money for unlimited tv and then end up with pretty much nothing. You do get channels from all over the world but many times these are not the premium channels that you are wanting to watch.

If you must watch movies and tv online, do yourself a favor and just see what hulu and netflix have to offer in terms of streaming tv. Otherwise if you are looking for hollywood movies and tv shows and want to learn more about how people share these things online, read my review on vuze.com. Do a sitejabber search for vuze.com

  • FilmLush

What is it about the $39.95 price tag that all of these sites seem to think people will sign up for free internet TV and watching free online movies? I read the terms and conditions and it appears this site is again connected with iMovies company and you may want to do a little research online about them before you subscribe. You should also read this article on what is free internet tv.

http://www.pcworld.com/article/*******/movie_download_scams.html

If you are looking for free internet tv there are places you can go to get it for free. Do a search here on sitejabber for vuse, megavideo or surfthechannel.

  • Channelking

This site seems to exist because it gives you links to many other more legit sites that will sell you on direct TV or DISH network or other such sites where you can pay money to get cable TV. Let me ask Why oh Why would a site that has so called free internet TV have links to buy cable TV? At least I can't seem to find any viruses so far on this site as the download they have for your internet TV is just windows media player. The "adult" Channel on this site is just a link to a webcam site. If you are searching for free internet TV or free movies, take a look at my review on Vuse.com

If you want to learn more about watching movies online read this

  • Free Tv Online

2/25/11

There was a time on the internet where everyone was trying to get you to do surveys for either money or something even more valuable... a free movie. Those days are gone but freetvonline still seems to think people will be willing to give out their personal information to all sorts of companies in exchange for watching online movies or free internet tv. This site redirects you to sites such as this one company that asked me for my personal address, phone number, etc... who knows what these companies are really going to do with this type of information. All for a bad quality movie that I'm sure if violating all sorts of copyright laws and may possibly have a virus? Network TV has caught on nowadays and all sorts of shows are available online for free by legit companies. Hulu and many more. If you are desperate for a very specific tv show or movie that you want to watch online for free then please at least read my review here before you start doing reviews online and giving away personal information.

This article at techcrunch is good too

  • Surfthechannel

2/23/11

Okay, this site actually does work in terms of finding tv and movies to watch. I will give credit to them for doing this site without me noticing any virus or malware being downloaded to my PC. They do just link to other sites like megavideo so I'm not too sure about how legal this site really is but if you want to take a gamble on finding free internet tv or movies and do not want to enter your credit card into the system then this may be the place for watching free movies online. Surfthechannel does a good job of organizing the movies and tv shows. However, becareful where you end up as those sites could contain malware. You might want to stick to sites like megavideo. Also for watching free internet tv, read this article on it just to make sure you don't lose your money or worse get an virus from downloading a video player

  • Movies Data Center

2/23/11

Moviedatacenter is yet another one of what PC magazine calls a fantasy that you could have unlimited downloads of hollywood movies for free. Odds are you will be entering in your credit card and either getting malware or unlimited credit card charges rather than unlimited movie downloads. Read this

http://www.pcworld.com/article/*******/movie_download_scams.html

I have been looking into this world of unlimited downloads and some do offer a degree of free movies, but that is usually done through file sharing rather than buying a service like this and file sharing my friends is free. It is like if you are going to break the law and be illegal, you are better off with bittorrent and taking your chances there. Or go to a real site that has a deal with hollywood. Search for hulu or joost or ovguide or vuse and see what comes up. Those are the names of sites that you should try before handing your credit card over for what will not be unlimited movie downloads or free internet tv streaming. Like the PC magazine said that is probably an illusion.

  • MomoMesh

2/23/11

Momomesh really has their stuff together when it comes to advertising and marketing their website. I was looking into the whole watch free movies and watch internet tv concept as I keep seeing those sites pop up on sitejabber and have come to the conclusion that most of these are somewhat of a scam. I was about to join momomesh for their so called free trial which of course requires a credit card where they charge you unless you cancel. Then I read reviews of momomesh and found they are linked to www.cinemaden.com. Just do a quick google search of that and you will read how people get tricked into paying $39.95 or worse they keep billing you for small amounts of money 1-2 bucks once they have your credit card. Never ever do a deal where you get a free trial and give someone your credit card any site that employs such sales tactics is bad news. Momomesh will let you watch some movies, but they are linking to other sites that will host them as obviously they do not have deals with hollywood studios that allow them to advertise that you can download their movie. Stick with itunes or if you are going down the filesharing path just go with bittorrent.

  • Get In Too

2/14/11

I usually cannot stand these penny auction sites as they all are gambling and getintoo is not an exception. However... this penny auction site selling everything from gift cards to electronic items like canon dslrs does do somethings differently. I will point them out, but I will warn people that this is a brand new site with currently only 21 facebook likes (my younger brothers high school made website has 100 likes) so I can't say for sure if they are truly legit.

1. bids are reusable
2. Only 10 bids allowed per item (this prevents people from going crazy and overbidding)
3. Ability to use bids on an item for purchase of that item.
4. They claim to only make like 4-10% net profit per item which is much less than the typical penny auction site making like 500-1000% profit.

Hard to really say right now and the site design looks very amateur hour as well as the name. But it is a good concept so I hope they do well.
