I usually cannot stand these penny auction sites as they all are gambling and getintoo is not an exception. However....this penny auction site selling everything from gift cards to electronic items like canon dslrs does do somethings differently. I will point them out, but I will warn people that this is a brand new site with currently only 21 facebook likes (my younger brothers high school made website has 100 likes) so I can't say for sure if they are truly legit.

1. bids are reusable
2. only 10 bids allowed per item (this prevents people from going crazy and overbidding)
3. Ability to use bids on an item for purchase of that item.
4. They claim to only make like 4-10% net profit per item which is much less than the typical penny auction site making like 500-1000% profit.

Hard to really say right now and the site design looks very amateur hour as well as the name. But it is a good concept so I hope they do well.

I need a vday present for my girl and I found this site. I do like these types of sites more than the daily deals as they give you more time to figure out what you really want to buy. Prices are rockin but I am not sure of the actual quality from a girl's point of view. Would like to hear what other people have to say about the quality of the silver and gem stones. I don't want the 925 silver or whatever that is too look shoddy.

I think I am more of a fan of daily deal sites that have a product focus than the million sites that now offer me a massage at 50% off. I like them more because the product itself has value and you can instantly see how much it costs. The services have more mysterious value and the business owners do this at a loss so they can upsell you..which is always awkward

First let me say I know nothing about the actual software of this company. I just wanted people to see how easy it is to set up a daily deal website. We see thousands of these popping up everywhere and it is hard to say which ones are legit. Apparently you too can set one up just like groupon for a couple thousand bucks and next weekend you are up and running. Scary. But kudos to this website for making anyone the next groupon

Daily deal sites cloning groupon are popping up so fast I can't keep track of all of them. I think the problem with townhog and daily deal sites in general is that their cut of the revenue is so high that when businesses make these deals they are doing it soley to attract new clients and taking a huge hit so they will need to upsell the client to make a profit. I experienced this first hand when I did a daily deal for a photography session. It was dirt cheap at 20 bucks for an hour session, but at the end of it, they only gave me low resolution files and said if I wanted the high res ones I needed to pay extra. I don't think these daily deal sites are here to stay once people understand how they work and don't get a great deal they will stop using them. But the restaurant deals on townhog are actually not bad and I did use it for that. I think that concept works better.

See's candy as a featured auction item to be sold on picklebid version of a penny auction? I just don't know what to make of these new auction websites and how to review them when they are selling chocolates online. I mean ipads, ipods, iphones and HDTV on auctions all make sense to me ... but chocolates? Sorry I think I will pass and while these sites are pure gambling it does makes sense to gamble on an ipad, but on See's Candy??? I just don't get it.

Bidrivals is yet another one of the million penny auction sites out there selling everything from ipad auctions to LG HDTVs. Auctions for MP3 players are also there. But where this site differs is that they also have bizzare cheap things like women's shawls or purses without a major brand name. I am not sure why they are auctioning off items I think most people could care less about except perhaps these items people actually WIN and then they buy more bids thinking they can win that LG HDTV. That is just pure speculation, but if it is the case then perhaps they are on to something. you see many of these sites have reviews where people complain they win nothing, on this site you may win that women's shawl if you bid on it because who really in the end wants that shawl anyways
Catchbids

Catchbids.com is another penny auction site that has really cheap items for sale like burger king gift cards. That I have not seen in a penny auction site or any auction site for that matter. Catchbids doesn't stray from the typical formula of luring in new consumers with cheap dollar amounts, but they are more unusual in that they have such cheap items for sale. A cheapbid auction on this site seems to have significantly lower priced items. Still it is gambling IMO and I think these sites should all be regulated by the government.

I tried logging on to their service but their english was so bad it was scary...not that I have anything against gold sellers based in China but I do like to minimize my risk. I read the article on sitejabber for world of warcraft and I suggest you read it too. Don't want to lose my money to WoW scammers again.

Good place to start the new year off right and lose some pounds. Info on this site on weight loss is pretty good, though I am considering HCG---this is a good first shot at losing my weight after the holidays

This site is a slot machine that is completely unregulated....good luck, but read this first

ahh yes...another penny auction site. One of the literally millions of them out there. If you have just found out about this site, just a warning...penny auction sites are not yet regulated by the FTC, but since they are basically close to a gambling site rather than an auction site you can bet the FTC will eventually get around to it.
a pretty funny article describing how penny auctions are evil business plans here

I just learned about the starbucks reward program and I cannot believe I have been missing out on this. You get free coffee and lots of discounts throughout the year if you just bother to get a starbucks card with your name on it and it is free. If you go to starbucks more than just a few times a month it is worth it.
Michelinguide.com

I just gave Yelp a Meh review and wanted to say if you are looking for a really good place to eat and impress a date, go with these reviews. Why trust a bunch of fake reviews or possibly even the restaurant owner himself writing reviews on yelp? I pretty much trust Michelinguide.com OR my facebook friends reviews of sites.

SELL OUT!!! I can't believe they started to become a groupon just to make a quick buck. They couldn't figure out how to make money on their own by selling ads to business or doing what the news called extortion, so they copied groupon? If you want to find a good place to eat go with Michelinguide.com.
Penny Purses

c'mon...penny purses? really? the only thing missing will be the money in your purse. If you are even thinking about participating in a penny auction that is selling products for 95% off and you think you have a good chance of winning I recommend you reading this article first

Yet another penny auction trying to get money out of people wanting cheap items. Play the lottery people....win more that way. Same thing. If you are contemplating this website read this first

I think 90% of these sites just the iphone4 as their main draw, I wonder if that is the most effective thing and what people really want for 5 cents. Nice site design for a penny auction site. If you are going to play, make sure you understand the concept.

I question penny auction sites that really only sell gift cards. It seems as if they are too small and have not developed relationships with larger vendors. Or it could mean they might actually ship the cards if I win. Tough to say. Check out this article before you attempt to win one of these cards

I will say this penny auction has more style than the 1000s of other ones out there. Still not sure how to really trust these things when nobody audits them. They would actually do much better if there was some goverment run agency to verify these things just like gambling sites or lotteries are state regulated. Still if you are going to spend your money on these things make sure you read this first
