I signed up for a three-month subscription for Match in February 2018. The free version didnt have as many features, so I decided to pay the $75 for three months because I heard such great things about the dating site. Minutes into creating my profile, which said seeking men 24-30 years old, old men and even women started messaging me. I blocked the disturbing profiles and continued searching, hoping to find someone that met my two minimum requirements.
After a few days of opening up my messages and being horrified, I called their customer service line to get tips on how to avoid these harassing messages from men three times my age. They said theres nothing they could do after I put in my requirements any man or woman could still message me despite my very clear preferences. I asked to cancel my subscription and get a refund since I had only used the service for less than a week at that point. Gabriel said that he could issue a refund for the 2 months I didnt use yet. I pushed for the full three-month refund because I was so disappointed after giving it a chance for just a few days. He said that it was past the two-day return policy and that I signed the terms and conditions. I replied with yes I signed the terms and agreements because you promised to give me a selection of men under 30 Match didnt fulfill this promise, so it would only be fair for me to get my money back. Gabriel proceeded to tell me that he was disconnecting our call and then he hung up on me. I have never had a customer service representative hang up on me before so disrespectful.
I called right back and got Jone on the line. I told her the story of what just happened and then asked for her to follow through with the two-month refund. She then told me that this isnt possible and that she didnt know what Gabriel was talking about there was nothing on my account to reflect his promise. I asked her to give me the refund that Gabriel promised and she asked to put me on hold. She didnt put the phone on hold she just set it down and I could her loudly groan in the background. UGHHHHH then she picked up the phone and continued our conversation. I was so horrified by the customer service I was encountering so I abruptly ended our call.
I called back to speak to a supervisor about Gabriel and Jone, but the supervisor wasnt in the office. I just called back (a different day) and spoke with Benny the supervisor. I told him all about the above and he told me that customer service agents can hang up on customers and that since its past the second day of the purchase, he wouldnt be able to give me even a partial refund. I dont understand why this company lies to their customers, doesnt provide profiles that are relatively close to what the person is looking for and has the most despicable customer service representatives I have ever encountered. Ive been harassed by users, disrespected by their staff and have now been taken advantage of financially after paying $75 for one weeks use. This company is a scam.
