Bought a rare Vuitton bag with my credit card. Are at deal. The next morning I received an e-mail asking for Canadian Citizenship documentation AND a bank statement? To show I had made the purchase! I declined ( I would NEVERTHELESS send sensitive info like that across the Internet). I phoned the toll free number and asked why they needed any other info for this credit card info. They said they do it for first time customers with purchases over $1000! I declined and cancelled the order. No way ANYONE gets that sort of info! My online bank statement showed the purchase pendin. Next day the full purchase went through! I informed TD Visa of the situation. When I called the company again the representative was defensive and quite abrupt.
The money was refunded the next day, to their credit. Why on earth does The Real Real require sensitive info? Don't ever send it.
CANADIANS BEWARE.
When the purchase was refunded the total was $83 less than the original price! Apparently TD, and I am sure ALL Canadian banks do the same. When making a purchase the bank charges a " buy" rate and if you return a purchase or cancel an order that was being processed, the bank charges you a " sell" rate in converting currency! So you could be out big dollars depending on cost of said purchase! I am pretty sure most Canadians are unaware of this bank " practice".
Good news is I fought TD and got the difference ( in less than 24 hours) refunded.
We're so glad to hear that you've had such a positive shopping experience Adam! Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and we look forward to providing you the same service in the future!
Sincerely,
Farfetch
