I drove 45 minutes to my appt, arrived and the office said this doctor is not accepting new patients and would need to reschedule me. I scheduled through ZocDoc for the first time and it will also be the last time! With gas in CA being $6.25 a gallon a round trip 90 min drive to not even get your appointment is not my idea of a well run company. I called them and they told me there was nothing they could do! I'm beyond irritated and highly disappointed in this "company" … never again!

Hi there! We are sorry to hear that this was your experience using our platform. All providers choose what information to add to their profile, so there is no reason this should have happened. Providers actually guarantee their information listed and this is something we take very seriously. It sounds like you already let us know about this so we could follow up with the provider, but please let us know if there is anything else we can assist with at (855) 962-3621.

This has been the most awful company I have every worked with, People send requests not in the right state, or never fill out intakes or submit ID's or no show and it COST YOU 70.00!
It is so wild. I would never in one million dollars ever ever associate or share with the company again.

Hi there Sarah! Thanks so much for providing us with your feedback. Zocdoc is a paid marketing platform for providers, and our pricing was determined by a valuation study conducted by a reputable third party for the types of services Zocdoc is providing to them. This study factored in market rates for similar services, including average no-show rates. Providers also have multiple options to ensure that this platform as beneficial as possible for them. We'd like the chance to connect directly to learn more about your experience. Please give us a call at (866) 962-3621 or email us at Service@Zocdoc.com if you'd like to discuss this any further.

I signed up for one appointment via Zocdoc. That seems to have been enough to trigger NINE SEPARATE EMAILS (1. Welcome to Zocdoc, 2. Confirm your email, 3. Pending appt, 4. Confirmed appt, 5. Add your insurance [though I did that when I signed up for the appt], 6. Appt reminder, 7. Rate your visit, 8. Schedule your follow-up, and 9. Another rate your visit), as well as THREE TEXTS (1. Appt reminder, 2. Appt details, 3. Rate your visit).

Only "confirmed appt" and "appt reminder" should have been necessary. The clincher: I had to cancel because it turned out the dentist I had chosen wasn't in-network. (Edited to add: I'm lucky the doctor's office was doing their due diligence and called to double check -- looks like lots of others here have showed up and been charged out-of-pocket or found their appointment was never registered by the provider.) I canceled directly through their office. Zocdoc never registered the cancellation and kept sending me emails as if the appointment had gone forward. I have tried to unsubscribe, but they keep coming.

Some of their emails seem keen to market their product to me as a way of finding providers. This seems like kind of an underhanded use of addresses they collect from people who are just trying to sign up for doctors' appointments. I resent getting marketing plugs I did not sign up for and regret ever handing Zocdoc my email and phone number.

I wish more providers allowed you to schedule appointments online, but this is not the answer. Other reviews suggest that there are frequent coordination problems between Zocdoc and providers; I suspect that's because any kind of third-party service that works with thousands of providers will never be able to do the right kinds of checking to get everyone on the same page. Your appointments will be more secure and smoother if you contact your provider's office directly. Next time I'll just call.

Hi there! Thank you so much for this feedback. I am so sorry to hear about your poor experience with this office. This is not indicative of the service Zocdoc strives to provide. It's disheartening to hear that you experienced incorrect information on our provider's profiles. This company is absolutely atrocious to work with for providers. I'm a provider & have wasted countless of hours dealing with this terrible company. They charge $70 per referral regardless of if the individual no shows, cancels, never responds to the provider, etc. if a client calls them, they proceed to start sending emails threatening & harassing providers over client REFERRALS that 99% of the time never even showed up for the appointment they requested for but Zocdoc still charged the provider for! Clients are allowed to get away with horrific treatment to providers (no shows, disrespect, false payment information, etc.) & ZocDoc also treats providers like complete crap. They make up random "policies" on a daily basis, never communicate them, then proceed to harass providers about it. They also allow no show clients to leave a review on your page if that client calls them to request it. They call themselves a "marketing" company but they literally try to control the provider's internal policies/procedures by threatening providers with being kicked off the site if they don't run their practice in the way ZocDoc tells them to(for example, they try to control & dictate to providers when they should send video links, when to collect consent forms -- they told us to collect the consent forms AFTER having the first appointment with the client, we told them no. No consent forms, no appointment --, etc.). I could literally go on & on & on. I have now started to put all my efforts in my own practices' marketing, SEO, campaigns, etc. & have started to slowly stop using their services. Providers beware!

Hi there! I'm very sorry to hear about your experience as a provider using Zocdoc. As a provider, you do have a dedicated support team that is here to answer any questions or concerns you may have. We would be happy to ensure your account is set up for success. As you were told during onboarding, the fee per booking is not dependent on the outcome of the appointment; in other words, it is not a charge per successful appointment like you would see for a referral site, it is a charge based on a successful new patient booking generated by our marketing efforts on the Zocdoc site. Additionally, we have a dedicated review team that monitors all reviews being posted to a provider's profile. All reviews on a provider Zocdoc profile are submitted after booking an appointment that the provider indicated the patient attended. If a patient did not show up, please give us a call so we can gather additional information from you and have this review investigated by our dedicated review team. You can read more about our review policy here: https://www.zocdoc.com/about/verifiedreviews/ but at your convenience please give us a call! Our number is 866-962-3621. I am the marketing coordinator at a general surgery practice and we used Zocdoc for a short period of time. It was a huge waste of $700 on it. Even if patients do not cancel their appointments, the office still got charged $70 per appointment made. This is outrageous considering it should be helping physicians and surgeons be successful in their practice. If a patient doesn't come in, they don't care and don't take responsibility and charge your practice regardless. They should set up a better system where we can verify the patient did or did not come to the scheduled visit so they can at least return a portion of the $70 back. They were unwilling to help us or understand our issue. It's completely ridiculous and not worth it. It is only built to help patients but not for the doctors who are trying to serve them.

Please know, that Zocdoc is a marketing service, and the cost per booking includes an expected level of cancellations or no-shows. Zocdoc is not a referral service, and we are not able to adjust or remove booking fees based on the success of the booking. As a marketing company, we can help you set up your account so that you can set an amount per month you would be comfortable paying for marketing regardless of appointment outcome. Providers are billed $67 for each appointment made. This is even if the patient does not show or cancels the appointment after 24 hours.
LESS than half our patients from ZOCDOC do not come in and this raises the cost to over $150 per new patient. Insurance reimbursement is less than this and we lose money on each patient we see.

Changes to our service can only be made thru our Account Manager who has no phone number or email address. Messages left to him do not get returned.

CANCEL YOUR ZOCDOC ACCOUNT - you will get home earlier and have more money.

Our clinic has constant issues with ZocDoc no-shows, post-24-hour cancellations, and drug-seeking client behavior. This platform has been a huge waste of our time, energy, and resources. Zocdoc also has a zero-patient-fault policy and a no-refund policy for clinics. Based on these facts and the actual new patient realization rates we're seeing, the $70/booking, especially for small private pay clinics, feels predatory and like false advertising when it comes to ROI. Patients pretty much never cancel on their own within the 24-hour window. They no-show or cancel about 90% of the time in our case. This might not be the case for insurance-based practices, but for small, private pay clinics it's a nightmare. If the patient cancels on their own within 24 hours after booking, no charge. But if you try to call, e-mail, AND text the patient just 20 minutes after booking to confirm they are aware that you are cash pay and not in-network and they don't respond until the next day, or they never respond, you get charged $70 for all that urgency, time, and effort. Same with potential spammers/bots/bad e-mail or phone provided, etc. ZocDoc says we need to be more clear so no there is zero patient confusion when booking. Our private-pay policies and pricing are abundantly clear throughout our profile. The very top of our profile says "SELF-PAY/CASH-PAY, NO INSURANCE." We don't list any insurance as accepted. We registered as self-pay, etc. Notifications pop up informing the patient that we are "out of network," which I think confuses people, and should just say that we don't take insurance at all. The patient also has to sign forms acknowledging our private pay status and our pricing/rates immediately after booking the appointment. None of this helps, which leaves me dumbfounded. Most people on ZocDoc want insurance coverage and they ghost us or cancel when we tell them it's private pay. If they are one of the few who are kind enough to let us know they are canceling, they don't do it on the ZocDoc site that they used 1 time (we have to go in and do it for them), and they certainly don't do it within 24 hours, so we've usually already been charged. ZocDoc knows these statistics and one has to wonder if they are making fake appointments to rack up charges... That would be a GREAT business model. In any case, they are choosing not to fix a broken system simply to make a huge profit. They have no accountability and no skin in the game. We will be redirecting our marketing dollars into our own SEO efforts and using our own EMR booking features going forward. No more BS. If at any point things change for the better, I will gladly reconsider the platform and will update this review.

Hi Keely! Thank you so much for your feedback, we look forward to the opportunity to grow from feedback such as yours! I'm very sorry that it seems your profile preferences and settings are being unintentionally ignored by potential patients. We want your account to be set up for success. Please know, that Zocdoc is a marketing service, and the cost per booking includes an expected level of cancellations or no-shows. Zocdoc is not a referral service, and we are not able to adjust or remove booking fees based on the success of the booking. The fee forgiveness was designed to address patients who quickly change their minds, not to address any fit issues between the patient and provider. Provider's profiles should be optimized in a way that there is no need to clarify additional information within the first 24 hours. With that being said, I want to recommend providing this feedback to our product development team to see if they can implement something for the future when they create new developments and projects. Here is the link if you have any suggestions on how to improve this for providers: https://www.zocdoc.com/about/better-for-providers/

Additionally, please know that there will be an update in the near future where you can block out-of-network/insured patients and only accept self-pay patients on your profile. Right now, this is still in the works so I don't have an update as to when this feature will be live but hopefully soon as this seems it will be an imperative feature for your practice to utilize! If you have any questions, please feel free to give our dedicated Service Team a call at 866-962-3621. We look forward to hearing from you soon!

Hidden fees, no transparency and extremely difficult to use. So so frustrating. Charged $100+ to get a consult with a doctor who couldn't even help my problem. No refund and got my account "black listed". Have tried it three times and just gets more disappointing each time. Doctor cancellations, being overcharged or being scheduled 8+ hours away from where I actually live. Horrible horrible website that is way too difficult to use.

I went there because it advertised that it could help me find a mental health therapist that took my insurance. Guess what? The FIRST result of TWO, was WRONG! If I wanted to pay $300 out of pocket I wouldn't not have asked for a provider that accepted my insurance would I? So, I just wasted more of the time I didn't have on a crappy online system that lies. Also, do not try to contact them directly because what you get is a flipping address. You have to write a da*n letter to the people.

They say "we match patients' needs with providers." They failed horrendously and charged me $130. I never listed myself as a psychiatrist, yet two patients booked me for medication management.

Fact

1. ZocDoc's failed website design misguided two patients to book me.

2. ZocDoc insists on charging me $130

3. ZocDoc insists on taking zero accountability

Don't even bother talking to the service support team. They just copy/paste the same message about their business model.

1. Do not use this platform
2. Reasons: Patients are allowed to book even if you dont take their insurance
3. If they (the patient, not you) dont cancel within 24 hours you are charged $65
4. If they no show you are STILL charged the $65 fee
5. Customer Service is useless
6. I asked specific questions and spent HOURS asking questions and setting up my profile and have been charged multiple times for client no shows

Dont bother using ZocDoc at all.

We are a marketing service where providers pay for new patients finding them on Zocdoc and booking with them. We have policies in place to limit the number of patient no-shows and cancellations. With that being said, no-shows may still happen which is why these are factored into our booking fees. If I could give ZOCDOC negative stars I would. They had people searching for med management and coming up with MY name and I am very obviously an LMHC (as advertised). They charged me 450$! And ALL of the client asked me to prescribe them medicine. ZOCDOC IS A FRAUD! I even made sure my reasons to search me had nothing to do with meds and made sure zocdoc did not see it on there end. After they agreed, they still did not refund me. FRAUD! I will blast this website until you FRAUDS give me back my MOTHERLOVIN MONEY!

Zocdoc charges providers $70 for bookings even though the patient no showed or made an appointment with the wrong doctor. This is unscrupulous. If Zocdoc doesn't change their practice, they are going to lose providers soon. Zocdoc is no longer the same website as it was when it first started years ago.

I am in Ft. Collins and looking for a new doctor. I put in my zip code and it had doctors listed in Denver. I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome so why the hell would I want to drive all the way to Denver?
I even clicked on 10 miles away and still mostly Denver.
And not one of the Doctors or Nurses is in my United Healthcare book.
I have all the names in my new book and not one is listed from Zocdoc.
Wow thanks for wasting my time.

This company charges doctor's offices $40 for every booking as soon as someone hits the schedule button. Patients can no show, reschedule again and again, and ultimately not pay for their appointment with the doctor, or perhaps the doctor doesn't take their insurance, and it doesn't matter: ZocDoc still charges the doctor $40, and absolutely is not interested in resolving any situation with the doctor.

Tip for consumers:
Medical practices will find that ultimately the charges this company impose are not worth the hassle dealing with no-shows.

I would honestly rate this with ZERO stars. They do not care about providers and will charge for patient referrals who are looking for a completely different service. They do not reimburse you. They often have the wrong patient insurance and will still let them book without a refund. It is a scam and a rip-off.

We have been using Zocdoc for the past ten years (PCP), but under the new deceptive pricing policies ZOCDOC has turned into a scam. They charge us $40 for each new booking but ever since they started the new pricing model we are being swamped with fake bookings people, for different specialities, having no insurance and out of network being able to book with us despite our repeated warnings and clear instructions on our profile and ZOCdoc just does nothing to resolve such bookings. Customer service are very arrogant, and refusing to help. T. S. MD

I signed up to find a new ob/gyn. My insurance is Blue Cross Federal, and it showed just all of the doctors I was interested in as out-of-network. When I contacted Blue Cross, they said that every doctor and practice I wanted was actually in-network. Zocdoc was a waste of time, and worse, I would have ended up with a doctor I didn't want.

Zocdoc will show maybe 3 doctors who will accept medicaid that are 45+ minutes away or they're next availability is MONTHS from now. Unless you want to spend an arm and a leg for someone to help you with your medical issues. All of this when you can ask around your area and find a doctor who accepts your insurance. Zocdoc is for people who arent struggling in life. But if you are, the people behind that website don't give a damn about you

Tip for consumers:
Spend your time somewhere else. These people don't care about you
