YouTube is my go-to platform for video content. Whether I'm looking for educational tutorials, entertaining vlogs, or music videos, YouTube has it all. The user-friendly interface and personalized recommendations make it easy to discover new content. I also appreciate the diverse community of creators and the ability to interact through comments and likes

“Youtube has become garbage”

Too many advertisements in front of the videos in recent weeks. Additionally, I'm tired of this platform blurring out sections of a video like a war documentary. Its history. STOP BLURRING IT OUT. I wish creators would start switching to Rumble. They have 1080p videos now and no blurring, very little censorship. Youtube has become trash.

YouTube is good for finding good tutorials etc., but terrible with their policies, way too many bs policies when streaming or even posting videos with a little background music. Just as Facebook, I'm 50/50 with YouTube.

Being a 5'10,120lb female, finding the perfect fit jeans was nearly impossible. Ubtil I found Alloy. They were always a perfect fit and reasonably priced. I couldn't of been happier. However, the quality has taken a dive and tge sizes all the sudden changed. Not all tall woman are thick! The styles and options have even become less abd less. I am highly disappointed with these changes. Now where do I go!

Youtube shadowcensors (similar to shadowban). In youtubes case, it applies to comments on videos. Whatever website you're on, log out and check your comment/content is still visible.

Facebook, twitter, huffington post, maybe others do it. Your comment is still visible when you are logged in to the account that made it, but isn't publically visible. In the UK "the election" is bringing out all sorts of dodgy website censorship practices.

Maybe more to come in this review later.

They are making it harder and harder to earn money, videos get unmonetized for just small things, really making it hard for channel holders.

I remember when YouTube used to be people that put out content they cared about, and getting a side check was a bonus... creators never put all their eggs in one basket. The ones that put in quality showed, and the ones that couldn't afford the high quality editing and or equipment definitely shined due to personality and enthusiasm. But as time went on, more and more got concerned about money and ad revenue. Today you see countless videos of creators upset about getting demonetized and not getting a paycheck for their time regardless of the quality of content. Especially ones that not only get paid monthly by patreon subscribers, but by sponsors as well... That's multiple sources of income off a 10+min video. Usually just barely over the mark. Then on YouTube's side they will demonitize videos from creators but will still show ads on some of them (not all to be fair but still none the less) basically denying a creator a chance to earn money but YouTube itself will still make money off that video. This looks bad and makes it seem like they want to restrict how much ad $ gets paid out. YouTube itself also restricted what and who is able to get monetized to the point that it's harder and harder for many individuals to be able to get paid. It's a two way street. Then you have multi million dollar corporations starting up and backing channels to advertise as well as get paid. Not necessarily a bad thing but competition is much harder for the average creator. Then there are the alleged personal and political motivations about what and who can put content out. When only the largest creators get a voice about what content can be put on a site like this is never a good idea especially when the content they want banned is critical of their own content. (Being critical does not equal bullying) Then there are allegations of content suppression based off of opposing political views. Everyone deserves to have a voice on this site as long as it's not threatening real violence or obvious hate. On the flip side this is a site where you can watch much entertainment for anyone as long as you know what you want to look for and it will eventually, usually quickly, will put more videos that fit what you like. There are many categories too... everything from movies, commentary, podcasts, video games, to music. It's got as much gold as it does septic tank waste. Comments are the same way, it's as uplifting and funny as it is downright insulting. It's basically turning into another version of twitter.

I'm not sure about YT because there were VERY toxic people (LisaGamingRoblox for example. She's very toxic.) and a bunch of inappropriate and bad channels that YT hasn't banned yet (if you know Bella Delphine, her channel hasn't been banned, yet she posted inappropriate stuff.). Also, if you're using YT for free, you would be pissed off with the ads coming before or during the video you're watching. (I was gonna watch scary stuff, Roblox Piggy stuff and all that until the ads ruined it.) It's a great app for posting videos, but all of the stupid stuff and COPPA ruined YouTube. I have mixed feelings about the site. -_-
ALSO, don't forget about the bots that spam comments on EVERY single video. (recent bots have inappropriate content.)

For a moment it's "okay" to watch an ad 5 times a day, but now it's getting insane! I understand advertising is a fundamental part of your website, but why you still show me the dang ad if I already told you it's repetitive?
It's hard to enjoy any video in your website now :(

Back in the beginning, in 2005, when YouTube was just being created, it was all very different from the way it looks right now, in 2021. Over the decades, a lot of things has changed, but not for better. Once, YouTube was a place of fun and having a good time. Today, YouTube is all about money, profit, advertisement, etc. There's a total lack of creativity like it was back in the good old times. Instead of promoting freedom of expression, YouTube became obsessed with copyright and deleting comments with some URL linking to another site. On some browsers, it's even impossible to reply properly to some other user by name, simply because of total lack of instant reply option altogether. You know what I mean. Anyway, this vital option is missing even from YouTube mobile app, which makes absolutely no sense to anybody. Posting some hashtags in comments is also a big issue on YouTube these days. One can even get banned for spamming, if they post too many hashtags, or links, in their comments! YouTube doesn't let users to add links to another site, even if so many movies and TV shows are missing from YouTube, all due to copyright, as well as community guidelines. Some users tend to falsely tag their videos as suitable for children, although in fact they're not, simply to avoid their videos being flooded with all those ads! If you ask me, YouTube should ban all those users who only troll the site, uploading hours of nothing at all, hidden behind the fake title of some full movie. Two hours of absolutely nothing! What a total waste of time, not to mention the memory hosted on YouTube servers. There are so many trolls on YouTube these days, with so called full movies which are nowhere to be found, all thanks to this ridiculous YouTube copyright policy. Also, the community guidelines make absolutely no sense these days. I'm under the impression that everything is unacceptable to post on YouTube these days! People get a lot of false copyright claims on their videos all the time from various music companies, or movie companies, or TV broadcasters, even those that nobody has ever heard of, such as the mysterious yet omnipresent Lasso Group, yet no one ever received a single strike on their account for trolling the site! Even if being reported for trolling, or spamming, by so many users, some spam or troll accounts on YouTube are never deleted! Go figure! Looks like YouTube doesn't care much about trolls and spammers anymore! One can get banned for copyright infrigement, or for uploading too explicit sexual content, yet never have I heard of a single troll account being deleted by YouTube! The comment section is the worst! People use it to post negative comments all the time, and to spam the site with some of the most absurd comments you can imagine! Some of them even re-post the same comment multiple times, without any repercutions from YouTube whatsoever! Although it's against the general rules of YouTube, many users post comments only to hurt other people, or to make someone look bad. Comments keep disappearing all the time, for no appareant reason, much like the likes that one gets for their positive comments. YouTube obviously doesn't want people to interact with each other on the platform, afraid that it might become a social media, instead of just a video sharing platform! That's why replying to somebody's comment is being heavily discouraged by YouTube itself. Personally, I think YouTube is already a global social media, and a perfect replacement for a defunct Google Plus, and I'm not the only one who thinks so. The site allows users to upload public executions, torture, and other gore content, yet for some reason any sexually explicit content gets deleted immediately! YouTube is a very cold and hostile place now. There's no fun on YouTube anymore. Everyone only cares about the money these days! YouTube is discriminating all those small channels with less than 1000 subscribers, because one can't even start a new poll on YouTube these days, unless they already have 1000 subscribers to the channel. Additionally, subscriber count on some YouTube channel may vary significantly from day to day. One could lose plenty of subscribers literally over night, all due to a single video, or some difference of opinion posted in form of a comment! Also, YouTube keep decreasing the total subscriber count by removing a lot of users without any channel content whatsoever from the list of subscribers. Meaning one can no longer know for sure just how many subscribers they may have this time tomorrow. Many users only subscribe to some channels only to downvote the videos, and to post negative comments. What can one say about all sorts of phobia existing on YouTube these days, or this constant clash of opinion between the opposite political views?! Even the most absurd things can occur, such as massive dislike of certain videos, like some Christmas carol for example, from users who don't share the same belief system. Why else would someone ever be listening to a Christmas carol, unless they're actually Christians themselves?!? People nowdays use this YouTube comment section for personal insults, and for posting a lot of very offensive comments full of hate speach against other religions, nations, countries, or even someone's political views, race, gender, or sexual orientation. That's not acceptable on any site, especially not on YouTube! On top of all that, YouTube is full of unwanted and completely unrelated ads. Way too many ads, if you ask me! Sometimes, the ads altogether are even longer than the video itself! One has to pay extra to get the YouTube Premium, so they could get rid off all those annoying ads! It's almost impossible these days for any small creator to ever reach the number of 100 subscribers, much less the 1000 required for monetization. Basically, YouTube became a synonym for vevo, with some of the biggest channels out there designed only for some online streaming, as well as running personal vlogs, yet the average creator on YouTube is completely helpless and left outside altogether. How can anyone make a fanvid these days, when all the music, as well as pictures, or videos, is already copyright?!? Fanvids without music have absolutely no sense. Music is the key element of every single fanvid. I remember the time when users could make a remake of some popular song, and then the video would go viral in the matter of hours. Today, making such remake would only result in getting a copyright strike, or even a channel deletion! Not all users can afford to pay the enormous royalty fees to some copyright owners just so they can upload some full movie, music video, or some full episode of a sitcom, or some other TV show. That's why you won't find any of those on YouTube, so may I suggest that you go and find it yourself someplace else. None of the most popular TV shows, or any blockbuster movie is available on YouTube! To watch it, one has to look for it elsewhere. YouTube supposed to be a place of fun, not profit, but most users only care about the money! Search results and suggestions often show only the videos from some big channels. The other huge problem on YouTube is YouTube app, especially the mobile one, which is no match to Google's high standards, although Google actually owns YouTube now. They should make more efford to create a much better YouTube app for everyone. YouTube should finally do something about all those problems mentioned in this review. Getting an email on which one can actually reach YouTube personnel, instead of some bot, would be a good start. Let me remind you that so far there's no way to send a simple message, or a complaint, to YouTube directly. For a global platform such as YouTube, it's a big disadvantage these days. Speaking of a global site, most users are unaware that majority of uploaded content is literally unavailable worldwide, due to YouTube copyright policy, as well as this whole YouTube region restriction. Some content is unavailable in certain countries, while some videos may even be blocked all over the world! That's not how a global site should look like! When one upload something to YouTube, they expect to be visible to everyone, all around the globe, which is not always the case. Sometimes, two copyright holders are in dispute, so one could get a copyright claim from both parties involved, making it impossible to upload certain music videos, movies, or TV shows! What YouTube needs right now are some vevo-like channels made by all those major movie companies to upload their own products: full movies, and full episodes of all sitcoms and other TV shows for people to watch for free. There's not so many full movies you can find on YouTube, and finding some full episode of some TV show, or some sitcom, is literally mission impossible, because of YouTube copyright policy which makes no sense to anybody, much like those very confusing community guidelines. My conclusion is quite simple: YouTube needs some improvement soon, or more users would quit the site and go someplace else, to some other similar site with less confusing ground rules and simply absurd guidelines, and without any more obstacles in expending the boundaries of one's creativity.

Tip for consumers:
Try the alternative! There are so many other great sites out there made for you to upload your videos.

In my last update I stated, "I may alter my review again, if the evidence presents itself, at a later date." Said evidence has presented itself. I've seen first hand that YouTube is taking down videos of a Christian nature that don't support the globalist agenda. First I see it and then when I want to watch it again, it's gone! Also, lots of these ministries in their videos say right up front how they have to be careful how they say things in order not to be taken down by YouTube. They have to do this in order not to activate the algorithms (yes, algorithms can be biased depending on who the programmer is) that would trigger a shutdown of their video. Some ministries will say on YouTube that since the content most likely would be taken down they redirect us to their website or to Rumble to view it. One of them had to develop their own app (Hope For Our Times) and now have videos they say are "Too Hot for YouTube." Other ministries are now starting to develop their own apps also after seeing this unfortunate trend. Two such ministries I can think of are Pastors Jack Hibbs and Andy Woods. Lots of ministries also get around the algorithm issue by using body language or mouthing a certain word, or saying it cloaked in such a way that YouTube might not pick-up on it. Another ministry just held up a sign for us to see so the algorithms couldn't be activated. One example is when they are speaking of "the jab" they don't say it, they just mimic injecting their shoulder. The time frame issue is still problematic and you can't trust when you see it says how old it is. It could be more recent than is portrayed or much, much older. I wish those producing these videos would have some sort of time stamp or say in the video when it was being filmed. Even despite these issues, YouTube is much easier to navigate than Rumble, so I'll still be a user of both platforms as well as others that foster free speech.

Updated Review of YouTube
April 21st, 2022
• Previous review

After a lot a careful consideration, personal experience, and some research, I've decided that YouTube is really pretty okay to watch. A lot of the problems with the inaccurate videos are hackers who use YouTube to make money. I know I've gone back and forth on this, and I may be wrong, but YouTube doesn't seem to be suppressing any content that I can determine. They have lots of right-wing news that, if they truly were left leaning, I would think they would suppress this. However, I don't see any evidence of this. In addition to political offerings, I've enjoyed cooking videos, animal videos, Christian videos, etc. As regards to the latter, if you're looking to see videos on a certain ministry, I've found that if you see a circle labeled with the name of the ministry, this is safe to listen to. There is still the problem of the timeframe listed at the bottom of YouTube Videos, for example I just saw one that said "15 hours ago" and the person in the video said the date he was filming and it was 5 months ago. All this being said, I may alter my review again, if the evidence presents itself, at a later date.

I Take It Back! YouTube is Just as Bad as Before!

Here is yet ANOTHER example of deceptive advertising from YouTube just to get an audience. See this photo taken right from my television screen showing the Duchess of Cambridge battered and bruised. The caption reads, "Kate was hospitalized after spending New Year's Eve 'horror.' When you watch the video, there is no such report, because it's patently FALSE. YouTube should be ashamed!

They SEEM to Have Improved A Bit!
October 17th, 2021
• Previous review

I've noticed that this computerized voice is no longer being used by YouTube. Also their content doesn't SEEM to exclude right wing content. However, I am noticing that some of their titles underneath the videos are very misleading. E.g. One video underneath said something about a Christian leader was going against former President Donald Trump, however, this Christian leader most certainly DOES support the former president. Another misleading title said, "Exclusive: This actress quit the show" when acutally it was nothing of the sort. She didn't quit the show! They also show under some of the movies that it's a "full movie" when actually they are just clips of the movie. Another problem is the time frame located at the right side of the title. It is OFTEN incorrect. For instance one video said it was 10 years ago and I happen to know it was at least 30 years ago. Another one said it was 5 days ago and it was 2 months ago. YouTube does have an excellent offering of free movies, however the captioning is lousy. For instance, I was watching Shadowlands with Anthony Hopkins and in the space of about 15 minutes I saw the following, "sauce = source, fuss = pass, attic = etiquette, noisy = naughty." Also, here in Virginia we're having an off term election for Governor and YouTube only supports the democratic (left) candidate. YouTube does surveys about products and politics and when it asks me whom I'm voting for I click my Republican candidate with glee!

Three Issues With YouTube
July 18th, 2021
• Previous review

I have three nuisances with YouTube: 1) For some reason they're using an annoying computerized voice at least on the Outlander offerings (why don't they give a "hooman" a job and let them narrarate the video?) 2) When playing a YouTube video, the video doesn't match what the computerized voice is saying, and 3) I understand YouTube is suppressing content that doesn't agree with it's leftist agenda.

It takes a lot of modifications to make it a good site, and very hard to find new interesting content. I recommend using an adblocker, sponsorblock, and forget about making an account, just get yourself a good RSS reader. Bam, you now have a 3 star site. Otherwise it's maddening and I'd never visit it.

I like you tube but i can see the annoyances with the policies and for you page. If you click on one or two videos on accident then they will continue to pop up into your feed for weeks, its great that people can post what you want, but some of the weirdest things can be posted and then if you swear or do something un-citizen like you get demonetized. Probably happens for those videos too, but they still remain up.

Will you guys PLEASE remove the 'video paused.are you still watching?' I think we know how to change or exit app when we're ready. It shouldn't matter if we're still watching or not. Sheesh! Very annoying. Also why are you interrupting right in the middle of songs for ads instead of in between songs? This app needs a few adjustments.

Don't get me wrong, YouTube is fine but there's a lot of updates that the site received that I just can't help but to complain about it. For example there are lots and lots of ads, first it was fine by just putting 1 ad and if its more the 5 or 6 seconds long you can skip it. But slowly they have updated this so there would now be 2 ads. This would obviously become a problem because it would take even more time just to start the video. You can see in the picture below that it just takes 30 seconds to start the video compared to the ad time back then this is a very big jump. And now moving on to a more recent update, the dislike counter was removed from the videos. This was The most stupid update that YouTube decided to do because you wouldn't know wether if the video is a scam or not. This was also a pretty stupid update because you could already have the choice to show the videos likes and dislikes. (Oop forgot to mention that you can't skip any ads that are by Google no matter what)
