Your mechanic is actually really good. I was wrong about it. I left a bad review before and they wouldn't let me delete it. Now I'm leaving a good one

“Avoid scam site”

Everything about this is a scam. Mechanic came hours late, claimed they couldn't perform the service due to a bolt I hate (it's the same bolt on every year, make, and model), then offered to install it on the side for cash another day. Now they're trying to charge me for the service and part (which the mechanic took with them). This was a scam from the start by the mechanic and the website. Avoid at all costs, literally.

Every day i received an email that the appointment was coming up, even at 3 am the morning before. Couldn't drive the car because it was a brake job. Then morning of, the mechanic cancels. Wow cool...at least the co didn't charge me a $50. Cancellation fee but meantime this meant starting all over again, finding a mechanic etc. Im beginning to thing this mobile stuff is bunk. Two stars because at least someone always answered the phone. Good idea but good mechanics are going to blow out of it and get hired elsewhere.

I booked a diagnostic service on the site and a mechanic was sent to my house. The mechanic (James) was great! He was nice and extremely knowledgeable. He diagnosed the issue and provided me a quote. When I attempted to book the follow up services, the quote I was provided over the phone was $700 more than what I got from the mechanic. When I inquired why there was such a huge discrepancy the phone agent rudely asked "Do you not understand what an estimate is?" Uh, yes, I fully understand what an estimate is but what I do NOT understand is why the estimate the certified mechanic gave me at the time of the diagnostic is so much different than the quote now being given. A few dollars difference I could understand, but $700?!? Needless to say, I declined, and due to the rudeness of the phone agent, I will NEVER use their services again. Sucks though because I really wanted the mechanic to complete the work and get payment for it.

Just an update to this tragedy. 4 months after this started and them telling me politely o basically go away. They quietly refunded me the amount they charged for the labor. I'm still out the money I spent for the parts and transmission fluid I had to but at least they returned what they charged me. I'm pretty sure the negative attention here probably had something to do with my getting the refund..

Just flush your $$ down the toilet. It's easier and less painful!

I called them to report some problems after my vehicle's radiator was replaced but the first thing the call staff said was that I had not warranty because I chose to provide the parts. I told them that the parts were not the problem but my vehicle now leaking transmission fluid because of the work they performed. They promised to have my case escalated and after 3 calls and emails to them, nobody has contacted me. I had to get another radiator installed because Mymechanic tech mangled the fittings for the transmission cooler and it could not reused.

Mechanic came out and didn't want to fix vehicle because it's a "Northern" vehicle and couldn't loosen the bolts. Although I was able to easily loosen them myself afterwards. The company did refund my money but did an inconvenience of waiting for repair only to find out they won't complete the service.

I hired Your Mechanic to help me replace (install) a serpentine belt. I already had the belt I just needed help installing it. They said it would be $208, before I paid they offered a "lock in rate" lower if I would go ahead and pay ($188.00) so I did. After the service was provided/completed the mechanic ( who was very good) told me since I already had the belt he would tell the office to reimburse me the $50 for the belt. Later that afternoon I received an email saying they wouldn't reimburse the $50 but they would "hold the money" for future use. That is completely unacceptable, and basically robbery. The mechanic was good but their customer service is awful. Do not use this company.

What should have been a simple appointment and service by this company turned out to be a nightmare. I waited for the mechanic and was told after the scheduled time that he was unable to make it, that i should have read the text he sent me. When they finally 5 days later they finally sent the correct mechanic out, he did not have the parts or complete understanding of what was to be done. He evaluated my vechile and I was told to make another appointment only this time with a completely different mechanic. The only individual who I had a clear communication with was a young man named "Paul" with clustomer service. I was please with the correct Mechanis they sent out, but they insisted on changing it with another. Clearly this business is not yet orgainized nor do most of the customer service individuals have people skills. You really don't know who to believe and or what they tell you. The only reason I gave it a second try was because of "Paul". I would not use their service nor recommend it until they organize their service and asign the same mechanic. They should contact "Bask.com" formally "Itok.com" and take lessons on customer service and product knowledge.

Raymond is experienced, good natured, and good at his job. I would hire Raymond as a mechanic any day of the week.

YourMecahnic.com... not so much.

YourMechcnainc.com seemingly pads their estimates. When you are quoted 5.5 hours of labor for plugs, wires, coils, and EGR Valve and the mechanic completes the job in 2.5 hours, something is VASTLY wrong with the estimate model. Sure a good mechanic is capable of shaving time off of the book time for each task completed, but competing ALL of the tasks for the job in less than 45% of the estimated time... is MORE than suspect.

Here are the numbers:

2013 Dodge Ram 1500 4.7L
Estimate:
$747.23 (incl taxes and fees) for 5.5 hours of Labor (I provided all parts purchased new from RockAuto.com)
- $110 promo codes (2) Total
Paid: $637.23

Services:
Spark Plugs Replacement
Exhaust Gas Recirculation / EGR Valve replacement
Ignition Coil Replacement
Clean Throttle Body
Spark Plug Wires Replacement

Time Quoted for Labor: 5.5 hours
Time Mechanic On site: 2.5 hours

Thats a difference of 3 labor hours OR Approximately $400. ($350 if you deduct Uber fare to and from your preferred auto shop)

The ONLY advantage, I can see, of using Yourmechanic.com is that they come to your home or job. However if you can find a shop who will bill you by the hour for labor and allow you to supply your own parts, you could potentially pay less than 50% of what Yourmechaninc.com will cost you.

Tip for consumers:
Contact local auto repair shops to see if they will charge by the hour or have flat rate pricing.

I paid for a repair one week. $117. Oh if that doesn't work i recommend this. Didn't work hours later. I request recommened work. $145.30 mins after he drives off the problem is not repaired. I don't have the time or money to do the elimination game with this me mechanic. He is suppose to be certified. He should have a "skill" of repairing automobiles and to know exactly what the issue is. I don't want new pieces put on as we play Wheel of Fortune to figure out the repair problem. I am in the hole for $262 and i am on a budget beyond thin. I call the customer service line and the rep went through the whole unsincere i understand your frustration line. Really? Let me use your car and stop by the store for some milk and bread on your way over here. She wanted me to pay another $70 to have one of his co-workers/friends come and reinspect the car. If he felt like he did the job right i would have to pay the $70 and schedule another appointment. Apparently this customer service number connects in the Twilight Zone. Your Mechanic may have scammed my money, but they will never get my service and i will not refer them to anyone.

Don't book James on a Sunday. He was late and said the part didn't fit I had to drive back to the parts place they confirmed it to be the correct part. He even told me he didn't work on Sunday and I offered to reschedule he refused. The work never got done!

I paid $89.99 to get this so called company to tell me word for word what i told them my issue is. Now they said i need to pay them $1200 to get what fix? They never said, nor tried to repair it. Don't give them your hard earn money. They are scammers, doing a time where money is hard to come.

I have tried to give this company a chance. I paid for an oil change and my oil light is still on and they did not reset my car. I had to send an email which I did not receive a response, and I called in and the guy in customer service told me that I had to reset it myself. Who does that? I paid them and trusted them for an oil change. He told me in order to have someone to come out to reset it I would need to pay for it. This is service is not professional. I will go to a trusted mechanic. Beware before you use this service. I used it for the convenience but end up having to go to another mechanic. Not worth it.

They will take $30 from you even if you cancel the appointment 2 hours outside of the 24hr window. I absolutely do not recommend.
They will apply that to future services but this experience proves to me they should not be trusted.

Tip for consumers:
Cancel your appointment 2 days prior

I will never, ever use this service again. I contacted them to have the valve cover gasket on my sons car replaced. When replacing the valve cover gasket it is also necessary to replace the intake manifold gasket and they did not include the part so the mechanic got one himself except it was the wrong one. He had the motor torn apart before realizing that it was the wrong one so we had to go to the auto parts store and purchase another one out of our own pocket. We also had to go and purchase a hose that he broke while taking the car apart. After he was done and put the car back together he listed the car incorrectly and we were charged much much less than we were supposed to be so being the honest person I am I called Your Mechanic to see what had happened and explain that we were to be refunded the amount for the parts we purchased. I tried to explain to Peter (CSR) what was going on and that there was a mistake, he was very rude and placed me on long holds several times, he eventually comes back on the line and tells me that because we provided parts that they are not going to honor the warranty so I preceeded to tell him that the mechanic told us to pick up the part, we didn't do it from the start and they didn't care so I hung up on them and told them they were not to charge me another dime if they were not going to honor their end of the deal and I hung up. A few minutes later I received another call from someone else saying they wanted to figure out what exactly happened, I then explained the situation to them and they then asked permission to charge me the remaining amount since the job was complete, I flipped out, told them "NO don't charge me another penny" and hung up. As soon as I hung up I realized there was an email from them with a receipt for the remaining amount of $266 that they did not charge us the first time and an message saying they would not be honoring the warranty. So they called and asked permission to charge us AFTER they did it. Needless to say we are disputing the charge with the bank and will never ever use this service again. Buyer Beware!

Tip for consumers:
Make sure they have ALL the parts and ALL the correct parts before working on your car.

Sitejabber for Business

Gain trust and grow your business with customer reviews.

From the business

YourMechanic is the car mechanic company that comes to you – at work or home. Our technology platform offers an economical, transparent, and convenient solution to car repair and maintenance needs.

With our website and app, consumers get estimates on repairs, book appointments with mechanics, read customer reviews, troubleshoot car issues, and track the health and service history of their car. For mechanics, we’ve built a state-of-the-art app that fully equips technicians to perform mobile car services. Mechanics can generate quotes, book appointments, source parts, set their availability, correspond with customers, and much more. Our technology allows mechanics to focus on what they love to do: work on cars.

Business History

YourMechanic was founded in 2011 with the goal to make car repair and maintenance affordable, convenient, and transparent. We started YourMechanic because we believed that the auto repair industry was broken.

Keeping a car healthy and well maintained is often a time-consuming and frustrating experience, and it’s often expensive. Car owners often lack visibility into the expertise of their mechanic and the fairness of the price charged. Mechanics work hard fixing cars, yet they make very little money at repair shops (less than 20% of what consumers pay). Technicians working on the YourMechanic platform earn 2 to 3 times more than the standard market rate.
