Get Movers in Barrie was truly a Nightmare, I would never ever recommend!
May 7, 2023

I want to preface this by saying this experience with Get Movers should be called Get Another Company. This company has made me physically ill with an arthritic flare and caused me post-traumatic stress. Me and my family moved on April 1st, 2023, literally down the street from our old house, everything was packed labeled, and ready to go, this should have been the easiest move of our lives, but instead, the price was hundreds more than what was quoted. When we arrived at our new address before signing our signature on the final amount we called get movers to talk to Sam whom I was in contact with before, he cowardly would not answer the phone or call me back and I was hung up on a good 10 times while time was wasting away, me and my family felt very uncomfortable and would have appreciated talking to someone from the office who knew what the hell was going on to discuss why the price was hundreds more than what it was supposed to be before signing. Long story short I started arguing with the guy I became visibly upset, timed wasted away trying to contact someone at the office the only thing unloaded was my dog's crate which was thrown like a piece of garbage in our garage, they closed the door to their truck and literally stole our whole house of furniture and belongings as a tactic to get us to pay more then the amount we were quoted, mind you we were not refusing to pay at all we were wondering why the quote was hundreds of dollars higher than it should have been. The Barrie Police were called who then contacted get movers the truck came back, and for the nightmare to end we signed and paid for it to all be over. The mover was rude and made it known they were working half an hour for free. Our boxes were thrown everywhere in the garage, we've never experienced such slow movers in our entire lives. My mother is a single parent and me and my brother have physical disabilities so when you're forking out money by the hour and movers are dragging their feet purposely it's upsetting. Were not alone as the police were involved a few months prior with another customer who left a review very similar to ours you guessed it the perpetrator get movers. The only furniture assembled was our beds all our other furniture was left as you see it in the photos. I have left a complaint with pictures and thorough detail, but no one has contacted me, and I don't think they ever will. At the end of the day, we paid a company $1,426 to not even assemble our furniture and to throw things labeled kitchen in the back of our garage so that we would have to carry everything back inside. I had to move furniture with my 60-year-old mother, and my brother has early-onset Parkinson's disease, so what choice did I have? What did we even pay for? I was sent into a flare for the next month as I was finishing school where my grade was reliant on my keyboarding and my hands the after-effects were more than just the way the place was left and the way we were treated by get movers. We found out on the day of the move the movers came from Toronto they are a contracting company accountable to no one. They do not have a location in Barrie, no logo on their truck their number comes up as spam and the United States. My first sign should have been when I asked where they were located Sam stalled for three minutes before telling me an address that is no longer available on Google. I would never recommend anyone going with this company their website is a lie, they are not based in Barrie, where's your address? What are you hiding? This company is deceitful, they make you feel like they are the best company with the fastest movers and are polite as can be until you end up in a situation such as ours and crickets, no answer no follow-up, no phone call, nothing. Save yourself from mental, physical, and emotional anguish. Our leather couches were scratched, and a 200-pound heavy mirror is still upside down against a window of all places. We now must find and pay someone to assemble our mirror which has now cracked the mirror behind it.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY
September 27, 2022

Absolute Scam. Two years of calling and they couldn't figure out how to change my business name. I paid $115 TWICE to have the former owner's business name listed in the Yellow Pages phonebook, and they refused to give me a refund even after they assured me it would be changed next year. There's no way for you to check what they're going to print, as all the information was correct online and on my invoices. It's also $35 a month to be listed online (and when you update your business information online, it is a totally separate service from the book, so beware that any changes you make online will not adjust the listing you pay for).

They never actually asked me to sign a contract or sent me any terms or conditions, they had a contract with the former owner. When I told them it's a sole proprietor business, and the former owner has nothing to do with me or my business, they basically said too bad. When I finally asked to just cancel service, they said I was already on contract for another year - although when I asked what proof of contract they had, they only had a verbal phone agreement with the former owner TWO years before I owned the business. When we called together when I took over Yellow Pages told me to just update the billing information - DO NOT DO THAT! Legally, you should open a new account. Finally they said "in good faith" they are letting me only pay for three more months. Literally they have no contract with me, and I can't get out of paying?

They auto-renew without ad proofs or confirmation, or literally informing you of anything. It should be illegal, No other business does this!

They cannot change your business information in their own service, unless your phone provider AND Telus changes the 411 listing. And you have to call those third parties yourself (wait, what am I paying YP for then?) And if they don't happen to get the order to change it(they claim, although the other providers assure me they DID send it), they don't bother to let you know, even after you have called all those companies and them and wasted tons of time. So apparently if they "don't receive" an order from Telus to change it, their system reverts back to the old name, without informing you. So again next year you are in the same boat and basically they are charging you a very high price to do nothing, and if you complain, they just blame the other company and refuse to have any responsibility or accountability for their system or procedures. I spoke to two separate managers who told me tough luck. They didn't even apologize.

P.S. It's FREE to be in the phonebook, you DO NOT NEED TO WASTE YOUR MONEY ON YELLOW PAGES

P. P.S. Wasted junkmail is killing the planet, and every year when the phonebook comes out the recycling and garbage is full of mounds of them. No one uses them anymore. Let this horrible industry die.

P. P. P. S Google lists your business FOR FREE

P. P. P. P.S. Give your advertising money to Locals like newspapers, magazines, etc. Keep your money in your community instead of making more Billionaires who don't care about their customers rich.

Tip for consumers:

I wish I made the former owner cancel her account instead of being strung along with no information sent to me.

Liars, Cheaters & Swindlers
April 30, 2021

There is no way this company should EVER be in business. Don't ever use them, no matter how desperate you may be.
We cancelled a contract with them 10 months ago, we were well within our rights to do so, according to their own company wordings, and so thinking everything was finished, my company moved forward.

We continued to receive billing, of which every month, I responded that our contract was cancelled back in September of 2020, and that we hadn't even technically renewed our 2020 contract with them as it were, as we didn't sign off on any renewals. We refused to pay any billing that was over and above our cancellation date, but they still kept coming in.

Now, April 2021, they have FINALLY cancelled everything supposedly, yet refuse to send any form of confirmation of cancellation, refuse to release our domain name saying we still owe them all this money AFTER we confirmed cancellation.

AS well, they even changed our BUSINESS PHONE NUMBER on our website to a number we never authorized period, and we lost out on so much revenue as people were calling this number, and all it turned out to be was a "tracking number" that yellow pages decided to use for their own gain.

I have notes, times, dates and every single email from every single department of theirs i have ever had to deal with since June 2020 to get the contract cancelled. I have even been in touch with their own LEGAL department and even they have said they will not pursue any collections request from Yellow Pages because they were in the wrong, yet Yellow Pages will NOT give us our domain property back.

I am currently going to be seeking a civil suit against them, as this has actually caused damage to my business, and they have cost us way more in revenue than what they THINK we supposedly owe them.

Every single time I get in touch with someone there, they pass me off to another department, saying its not their job and bam, suddenly there are MORE charges on my bill that magically wasnt there before.

THis company needs to be fined, shut down, whatever... but they need to be held accountable for their terible business practices. They are preying on the small businesses right now with illegal practices when all we are trying to do is survive in this time of Covid. They are a digusting business with no morals and should be shut down.

Tip for consumers:

My tip, don't ever EVER use Yellow Pages for anything.

Sunwing Vacations
March 28, 2021

In January 2020 I booked a vacation with Sunwing Vacations in celebration of my 25th wedding anniversary. We were to travel to Punta Cana and had booked in at a luxury adult resort with all the bells and whistles including our own personal butler. Our travel date was March 21,2020. On March 17,2020 the government advised that they were locking everyone down and nobody was to leave the country. Over the years we have not been ones to spend money on these types of vacations so needless to say we were very disappointed. However, not as disappointed as the treatment we have received from Sunwing since that date. When we were banned from travelling I immediately contacted Sunwing and was told not to worry that we would either receive a travel credit or refund. In the past year I have attempted several times to obtain a refund but have been told that I do not quality.
Most recently I have learned that Sunwing is to receive a $375 million dollar loan from the government as like many other businesses their business has suffered due to the pandemic. In reading the articles about the government loans it clearly states the following. Under the terms of the loan, Sunwing has agreed to maintain an account with the money it received from customers for travel that was cancelled due to the pandemic. The federal government has stressed that it will provide financial aid for the battered aviation industry only if airlines provide refunds to passengers whose flights were cancelled as a result of COVID-19. Upon reading this I immediately contacted Sunwing and again was advised I do not qualify for a refund. Their representatives informed me that the only travelers who qualify for a refund are travelers who booked since the pandemic. How does this make sense? These people are booking vacations during a pandemic when our government is advising us not to travel knowing full well that at any time we could be locked down again and their trip cancelled and they are entitled to refunds. I booked a vacation before anyone was aware COVID19 existed fully intending to go on that vacation, but my trip was cancelled through no choice of my own. I had no input in this decision. This was decided for me by the government. How is my trip cancellation deemed not a result of COVID19. I think Sunwing needs to stop playing with the wording in the terms of their loan agreement and step up and do the honest and right thing. They have now extended my travel credit unit 2026. How generous, but how do they know what shape the world will be in by then, how comfortable I will feel travelling, what my health will be like and if I can still afford this vacation because guaranteed the trip I paid for in 2020 is not going to cost the same in 2026.
If Sunwing has accepted a government loan they need to do right by ALL travelers. There must be others out there who are in the same situation was me. Please post, contact the media. Let's do whatever is necessary to make our voices heard.

Outdated, Not Effective, Predatory Pricing Schemes - put your marketing dollars elsewhere.
January 6, 2020

Gave them a serious 4 year run. Two ads in the local books, and their full digital package.
Just terrible, all the way through. Kept getting conned into signing on for another year via a combination of them juggling each service they give you on its own contract, on different contract lengths, that never line up on cancellation timing, yet their interdependent systems, so if you turn off one, it'll either deactive another system or magically quintuple (yes, quintuple) it's cost because its no longer bundled with the thing you canceled... and all the contracts are on different calendars... so you're trapped and the cycle continues over and over of trying to cancel and then they offer some huge upgrade at something stupid like 85% off, which sounds good, but really its just their usual price and they jack individual service prices by 600% so they can then discount them steeply for folks trying to quit and lure em back in... it just sucks.

1. Main issue - they don't get leads. They were our poorest performing advertiser by conversion. Literally not enough hits to even break even over 4 years. No-one is using yellowpages anymore. Everyone keeps saying seniors do, but really... they don't, their grandkids have them on tablets now, and they're on google and yelp. YP missed the bus and is running along after it, lying to folks to get them to use their service. Its sad.
2. Archaic web interface with terrible servers, awful load times and an unstable website, unlike other advertisers who present their analytics, yellowpages hides theirs, and only gives you basic stats that you can't play with to learn about your leads.
3. Abysmal reps: occasionally a caring person, but more often just slimeball sales types moving up the ladder, they can't retain staff cause the slime moves up, and the nice ones quit, so your liason/rep keeps changing every 9 months, so you have no relationship with anyone on your file, and every liason is always fresh to the job, clueless on how to even use their own YP system - which, see point 2, is a terrible system, that is glitchy, says it has functions, then doesn't have those functions. Its a tech nightmare, and the kids they hire fresh don't have any training or understanding of how to use it, never mind trouble-shoot it.
4. They keep getting hacked, and losing our data to who know who. This probably oughta be Point 1. Seriously, they say that the hacks weren't bad... but like, thats what all big companies say when they get caught losing everyone's data.
5. Their poor customer service peoples are reasonably nice - but you can hear the panic and shame in their voice as they read their scripts. They seem fully aware that the YP experience is garbage, but its all so well above their pay-grade, that what are they supposed to do? I assume they get yelled at most of the day. Their customer service managers are so accustomed to complaints, that when you escalate to a manager, the manager doesn't even ask what your concern is first, they just launch into a vigerous defense of the usual reasons people complain. I've quite literally just gotten off the phone with one of their managers, and he spent 5 mins telling me all the reasons that I shouldn't be unhappy with my account, before finally asking almost sheepishly " What was it again you were complaining about Sir?". I Hadn't Yet Even Spoken. He just picked up the call and had a 5 min defense speech ready. That's honestly unreal. It took us 4 months of calls to really quit. And they still have us on some tiny little service i can't cancel till the spring. Sigh.

Every dollar i've switched out of YP and put elsewhere has made me more money there. And all the other guys are giving me waaaay more business, and waaaaay more useful data about my customers, and miraculously, they haven't lost my data to digital criminal parties unknown. Please put your money elsewhere. One business owner to another. Save yourself the time, energy, and money.

Complete clowns
March 16, 2018

These guys are complete clowns, I don't even know what part of the crap job they did to start with, First the owner was my very best friend UNTILL I gave him my deposit check and than the games began chasing him around. My job was to take 5 days to complete and cost me $15,800.00. This job ended up taking 9 weeks and the work was so poor that he settled at $10,000.00 and I never should have paid that, I only paid it because I was trying to close on a bank loan that was costing me 11% interest and he was holding up the closing. Boiling Springs the day they "finished the install" wanted to be paid in full minus 10% on the spot before they would come connect the power and before the inspection was done. They said it was because they were having people not paying them once they had the job complete, this part of the job took three days. Man am I glade I stuck to my guns and didn't pay them here is the reasons why, so on Friday 2:00 pm is when they were complete minus hooking up the power, I called them at 4:00 pm and asked when they were coming back because this was June and very hot and I was told when I had a check in my hand. After a very heated conversation Jason agreed to come Saturday morning to hookup the power. I even offered to have breakfast for him and his partner. Jason never showed until Monday morning. After that he failed the inspection 2 times over a 6 week period and I had to have a general contractor go over the job to tell him what all needed to be fixed before my contractor would pay him, the best part, while my contractor was under the house he found all the old metal ductwork that they took down and replaced, they had smashed the old duct work than stuffed it under and an addition added to the house that I was told they hulled away. On the outside of the house we found two piles of insulation stuffed in the woods behind my house and than Jason the owner tells me that he cant trust the kids he has working for him. I could go on and on because I haven't even scratched the surface but I am tired of typing, I think you know where this story ends if not... good luck
And my name is Robert Battaglia and I live in Spartanburg I don't need to hide my name. I wish I would have read all the reviews on this company because there are a lot and all of them say the same thing CROOKS.

The company is focused on getting out of debt and looking good for their investors -
December 9, 2016

I used to work for the yellow pages - the company's main goal is to look good infront of their investors - the sales people are pressured, and have strict targets, and motivated with cash/commission incentives -
Watch this: http://bit.ly/2hdm6wF
Be cautious of how you spend money when the Yellow Pages commissioned sales teams come calling. Here are 3 tips to consider when purchasing with the yellow pages
1. The Yellow pages has commissioned sales people and this is their power time to sell. If you don't understand what they are selling you and they can't explain it - don't buy it.
2. The Yellow Pages sales people sell you on getting your business online - but really watch YOUR behaviour or those around you - when searching online on your pc or mobile - do you a) go to yellow pages and then search - or just search on the major search engines? The common and most popular behaviour is to go the major search engines to search -any other behaviour is secondary and more clicks to the web visitor. I recommend advertising where they search - the search engines like google advertising.
3. The Yellow pages offers to build you a landing page for SEO purposes - building another platform that DOES NOT DRIVE PEOPLE directly to your website is not a good option - when you have a STRONG WEB DESIGN.
4.SEO or search engine optimization - The Yellow page sales people keep telling my customers " we do it all for you" but the yellow pages team asks the business owner or the sales people to come up with the Key Words for their Search Engine Optimization. There is a complex process, software, and internet marketing experience that goes into SEO. I wouldn't stake the fate of potential leads and sales on people who aren't trained in SEO.

DO NOT SIGN UP WITH YELLOW PAGES GROUP EVER!
September 29, 2016

DO NOT EVER SIGN UP WITH YELLOW PAGES GROUP.
THEY ARE A SCAM FOR ALL BUSINESSES.
THE CONTRACTS ARE UNETHICAL AND MISREPRESENTING.
This online advertising has been a total scam of my money and is proving to be detrimental to my business! Please read the following carefully for it may save you from wasting lots of money.

1 - Yellow Pages Group is the only one in the contract that can cancel the service. So if you signed up for $247 a month for 12 months and want to cancel after the first month YOU CAN'T. I am currently signed up for a contract that costs me the amount listed above and when I asked to cancel after the second month they refused to cancel. I am stuck with this contract and filing complaints with BBB because of it.

2 - The terms and conditions DO NOT need to be read, signed or agreed upon by you. So when you sign up for the services over the phone they just send you the terms and conditions in an e-mail, in which, get this, they actually list in the terms and conditions that they DO NOT need to be signed, agreed upon, or even read by you. You just sign up on the phone and that's it, your locked into their terms whether you like them or not.

3 - The contract may be described as what they told me as, I quote, "a monthly service which costs $247 a month and EXTENDS for 12 months" This is a really misrepresenting way to tell you that your signed up for a 1 year contract that you cannot retreat from and don't even need to agree to their terms and conditions. I thought this meant its just a monthly service in which if not cancelled or terminated will extend for 12 months.

4 - This 12 month contract gets AUTOMATICALLY renewed after 9 months. So lets just say you sign up, don't like the service, and want to cancel after a month. They say no your in contract for the next year. You admit defeat and decide to troop it out for the year. At the end of the 12 months you call and say my 1 year contract is over and now I'd like to terminate the services. They will respond with "I'm sorry we renewed your contract 3 months ago and your signed up for another 12 months that you cannot retreat from. Ridiculous.

5 - Lets just say that after only 1 month you call them and say I will troop it out and stay for the 1 year contract but I would like to cancel the auto-renewal. They will then respond with "ok, no worries, we've cancelled your auto-renewal". Your now seemingly happy with the situation. Then after the 1 year contract is up, THEY SEND YOU ANOTHER BILL!
You call them back and say WTF I called and cancelled the auto-renewal. In which they will respond with "We don't have any records of that" at this time unless you got the cancellation of the auto-renewal in writing, your now stuck with another 1 year contract that you cannot get out of no matter how much you don't want the services.

Please fellow business owners, listen to my warnings and take note from someone that has been scammed by this company and is currently fighting tooth and nail to have this contract terminated. NEVER SIGN UP WITH YELLOW PAGES GROUP EVER. TELL YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY ABOUT THEIR UNETHICAL BUSINESS PRACTICES AND MAKE SURE NO ONE SUPPORTS THIS COMPANY. I can no longer afford these costs for my small business yet the bills keep coming. It has been the single most difficult and frustrating scenario I've ever dealt with, with any company I've ever done business with in my life. I've grown to hate Yellow Pages Group and I assure you will also if you sign up with this company.

If you wish to contact me for any information on how to fight the contract that you may yourself have been roped into or wish to share your story with me please do.
My e-mail is *******@gmail.com
