In the past, I praised Zap2It. Then when the new (and hated) version came out, I slammed them, and rightly so. It featured an awful, glitchy 3-hour grid and most of it didn't work most of the time. Well, credit must be given where credit is due. I came across Zap2It again recently, and what a surprise. All the things I (and so many others) despised about it seem to have been done away with. The 6-hour grid I liked is back, ALL of my cable company's channels are back, and they're correct and up to date. No fancy, cutesy features that make no sense, but replaced by settings that work. Dare I hope that Zap2It will stay this way? Don't know. Stay tuned.
Why on worth would they spend $ on developers to change something that isn't broke? The display is worse and functionality has been removed - e.g. can no longer view favorites; 3 hour view now instead of better 6 hour view; can't view what's on single channel... etc I'm sure there's other functions removed but don't have time to list. Somebody needs to be fired for this.
Lets you view only your favorite channels. Shows entire day of any channel. Lets you search all listings. What more is there?

A few years back, Zap2It decided to go with a new "bells-and-whistles" TV grid that was positively awful. After tons of complaints, they went back to the previous format, which was great. Guess what -- they're going "bells-and-whistles" again and it's awful. I can't log into it, can't open a new account, can't do anything with it. It is, as other posters are saying, awful.
10/2/16 -- This is an update to my earlier review. After a long time away, I decided to check in at Zap2It and see how they were getting along with that awful website. Wonder of wonders, it's gone! They wisely went back to the clear, clean, easy-to-read, highly functional TV program guide they had abandoned. So glad to see it back, just hope they keep it this time.
Completely unnecessary changes. The old sight was friendly to all devices and most ages (of technological knowledge). The new sight is self-limiting and requires a new sign in every single time it is visited. EVERY SINGLE TIME. Come on - a simple "stay logged on" or "remember me" or something... jaysus H... WHY do the techies have to keep messing with GOOD things. HOW many CONSUMER complaints did you actually get that "inspired" these changes?
Easy to navigate. Not fancy. Delivers what I want. As I said it's the weakness and clunkiness of the other TV listings.
It loads very slowly. There are basically three views --- "all channels," your preferred channels (or another channel subset like sports) --- and "my shows." But it always opens in "all channels." If I could get it to always open in one of the other two views, the slowness would be somewhat more tolerable.
Go to "http://affiliate.zap2it.com/tvlistings/ZCGrid.do" - it's not a complete restoration of the Zap2it listings that I, and many others, loved but maybe more of the broken links will be restored to functioning.
The classic TV listings webpage is functional and logged me in automatically with my original username, using the current date and time, all my old settings intact, and the clickable drop down addtional information on any show on the grid.
What isn't functional (takes you to a page with the error "The requested URL /tvlistings/ZCGrid.do was not found on this server"):
- links to jump to another day or time (but you can click on the arrows to jump the grid forward or back);
- link to jump from the drop down information on a current show to another page with additional details on that show;
- links to jump to "This show on TV" or "This episode on TV";
- link to jump to "My Faves" BUT the button on the drop down information on a current show does add work to add the show (but you cannot delete it from your Faves).
Maybe someone can mess around and find a workaround to get these links working. I don't have the time - I only found this alternate URL because I had been putting off customizing a TitanTV login to match my old Zap2it setup, and I Googled Zap2it to see if Zap2it had come to their senses and restored their old version.

The Zap2it I've been using for a while has gone completely useless, but I find that the version available through the Albuquerque Journal works okay, at least for now.
And no way to reach them. IT shows Chicago PD on ION when there is the Spelling bee. Zip code *******

Why are some/most of the movie descriptions like jokes or like someone trying to be witty or funny?
Movie descriptions should be an easy to understand synopsis.
Why mess with the old grid? It allowed you to see so much more on your screen. It was invaluable to scanning days and weeks for programs.
God-awful redesign, just terrible. Nearly useless to me now.
I use this site daily and I love it. Today. There is no sign in, no name, no channel numbers. No company that you use, such as Direct TV. What is going on?
Also, the feedback doesn't work. Please advise!
Patsy
It is now almost useless. Slow, confusing. Old login id won't work. Please go back to the previous version. At least that worked.
I will give websites a couple of chances, but eventually, I will simply stop using websites that habitually lie to me.
Why is it that the developer community seems to have absolutely no integrity?
Why do they always claim that their new versions are better, greater and more intuitive when in actuality, the second you try to use it you find that: it's not better, it's not greater, it's not more intuitive and it simply does not work?
I went to /titantv.com and will be using that site for a while.
I am fed up with IT lying to me,
Zap2it.com was changed a while back and became unusable. I found the Yahoo version which was how Zap2it used to be. The only problem that I encountered was that the HD channel numbers would revert to SD when I saved my preferences. I bit the bullet and penciled in the HD channel numbers on my printout that I would do for a week. That worked for over a year. Enter a week ago. When I called 'print' the software seemed to cycle but then went back to the grid. I tried this several times, even went back the next day, some result. Now for the big joke on me. I went to 'help' and was advise to '*******@zap2it.com, wow what results. I received a canned reply saying how important I was blah blah. The problem is still there and I have not gotten anything back from Zap2it.
NOTE: I moved my rating UP from one Star to two Stars because they at least made the site more functional; however, I still hate the new interface as a whole.
Thank you Jabber for this opportunity to speak. First, sincere thanks to pj b. (4/8/14) for the link to Yahoo! Tv's "powered by zap2it" tv guide page:
http://tvschedule.zap2it.com/tvlistings/ZCGrid.do?aid=tvschedule
Second, this opinion and rating stands as long as the "new" Zap2it remains in this format.
Third, Tribune Digital Ventures has acquired "TV by the Numbers" and with it, Zap2it.com (1). In doing so, TDV has changed the interface of Zap2it in what looks like an attempt to mirror that of TVGuide.com. For those of us who are not fans of that other guide site, this new interface of Zap2it (which, dare I say, is even worse than the other's to boot) comes as a severe blow to a great many of us. As for myself, I have been using Zap2it.com for well over a decade-and-a-half --- I saw it powering Channel 14 --- Cablevision's on-air channel-lineup back in the 90s and 2000s. I should add that Zap2it did upset me once back in the very early 2000s with an interface change --- but that was about their color scheme which was livable since its functionality remained intact and user friendly. And so, the site remained stellar. This radical change, however, is a different story. "This is genocide... the deliberate and systematic destruction of all life on Arrakis!" Oops, sorry, watching Dune. What I meant to say was that this time they killed the interface of a truly great site. It was easier to look at, preferences were spot on for such things as:
• 6 hour programming (sometimes I was blessed with 7 hours, no lie
• when I clicked on a program, the program details were useful for things such as cast and director
• the site looked professional and useful --- not cartoonish and overblown.
• most of all, I could change the order of my listings to group different classes of channels together
Lastly, the old site loaded infinitely faster... instantly for me in fact.
Thanks again to pj b (4/8/14) and Yahoo! Tv, because of them I can still use a decent online television guide again. Hope it lasts.
NOTE: I moved my rating from one to two because they at least made the site more functional; however, I still hate the new interface as a whole.

What possesses "smarter than you" people to think they can make something that is already great better? I only wish Zap2It was a paid subscriber service so I could at least remove my subscription fee. I hope all advertisers listen to users and run from Zap2It and their owner. Thanks for nothing. Try Titan TV folks.
The web developers at ZapToIt are at it again. Everything is redesigned and now one cannot login or create an account. It was wonderful before. I used the link at the bottom of their page to contact them, filled out all the information including my problem and comments about the change, and sending the form results in an error so it also doesn't work! TitanTV here I come!
Tip for consumers:
So much for "We've been working hard to retain the same great functionality"....You can now login but it looks like there's no way to show only the channels you want or change the channel order. You can "star" channels then only view starred channels but that setting doesn't stick so every time you go to the site, it will show all channels and you have to click "starred" again.
Why change what worked.
- You have to keep changing back to Favourite (star) channels
- Can't highlight my favourite shows on the grid
- On the old grid I could arrange channels in a preferred order
- liked seeing 5 hours at a glance
I have been using Zap2it for years. Loved it. Do not find this new grid very user friendly and very slow. Please let us go back to the old grid. I will be looking for something else
Also there is no where to change my email address. The one in my login has not been in existence for some time.
I used to recommend zap2it to everyone. It was by far the most efficient way to find what you want to watch, now it actually seems the opposite, which has made me wonder if theyre trying to slow you down so you see more ads or something? Id actually rather pay upfront, or very small monthly subscription to get it back the way it used to be (course, thats only if they guarantee itll Stay that way!).
Every once in awhile zap2it seems to ramp up its efforts to alienate all of their users. I've stuck it out through the many problems, including my entire account seemingly disappearing a few times, forcing me to start a new account using the same email I always have. And it has happened again: Another new site change and overhaul and redesign which means both accounts that I had are now gone. So congratulations zap2it. You've wanted me gone for a long time and you've now finally done it. Why don't you just shut down instead of making it so frustrating for users that they choose to give up? It would be more effective if you just packed it in.
If I could I would give 1/4 star for all the help available to fix this problem. I've had an account for YEARS. And suddenly I am not in their system. Hate what they did. What happened to" if it ain't broke, don't fix it"? Cannot login, cannot contact company. Cannot, cannot, cannot...
It was the best! It wasnt broken. They tossed it. Why not give us a choice...
Old or new? Seeking alternative, of course. Shame on designers. You should be
Embarrassed by your new site. Come to the light.
Is this site the project of a high school programming class? There is so much wrong with it I don't know where to start. It never comes back to how you set it, time is always off unless you go in and tell it what time it is, missing half the local channels.
All I want is to be able to select the channels I want to see, and see them at the right time, and retain some basic preferences - like "starred" (which it won't go back to after refreshing the page - and it dumps your starred list regularly anyway).
It used to be considerably better - the only reason I use it is because TV guide has even less of my local channels listed. You almost have to work at making a web site this bad.
The 'new' listings guide is totally immune to being user friendly. So many good features used previously, which could be accessed by users for their individual preferences and needs have now disappeared. This is now a useless TV listings site, so I for one, will be switching to an alternative
