“It is easier than ever to build your website”

Muhiu M.
1/3/24

I am developing a small project, and for its purpose, I needed a website. My budget was quite limited, and since this is kinda of an experiment for me, I didn't want to invest a significant amount of money for a simple website. I have zero knowledge of programming, and I have never built a website before. Anyway, I decided to check WordPress because this is the platform I know as the best for websites. Long story short, I have a domain and website now. I did it all by myself with only 50$ budget. Their website builder is amazing. I believe anyone can build a simple website with their templates. However, if you want an online store, this feature is considered advanced and you will need to pay a relatively high price for it. That's the only downside.

“Critique on WordPress.com Support: An Unexpected Encounter with Subpar Service”

Jason k.
8/31/23

I recently had an unpleasant experience with WordPress.com's customer support. While I understand that challenges can arise, the manner in which I was treated was far from professional. I reached out for assistance with a CSS-related query, expecting a constructive response, but instead encountered a representative who identified himself as "Thorr." Whether this was his real name, I cannot confirm, as it was conspicuously missing from the follow-up email I received for rating the service. When I approached him with a request for a CSS code to hide a banner, he initially told me it was not possible. However, when I presented further details, his response shifted from it being impossible to a blatant refusal to help. He told me he wouldn't do it and I was welcome to try myself. As a paying customer, I expected more cooperative and helpful service. What struck me as even more disconcerting was when I requested to speak to a higher authority or manager, and was informed that no such tier exists above the initial level of customer service. Additionally, while the location of a support representative shouldn't be an issue, I noticed the IP from which my site was viewed traced back to India. This made me wonder about WordPress.com's hiring practices. I hope that they aren't compromising on the quality and training of their customer service based on geography. In conclusion, based on my experience, I can't recommend WordPress.com. The level of service I received was not up to par, and the experience left a sour taste in my mouth.

I have been using WordPress.org for over several years. I feel like uh I can do what I want with my website. The one good thing about WordPress is that Its security system is very high. Too many options to customize your back-end front end to do whatever you want. Blaa Blaa.

Tip for consumers:
Yes You should move from wix to Wordpress

I know it looks old and not very eye-appealing; sure it does not have fancy actions, but it works. Pretty much all plugins work on wordpress, and hey, more than 30 percent of the web is wordpress. If your only complaint is beauty, use Divi theme builder. I am working on taking my shop online. There is money there too. With all these restrictions on travel because of Coronavirus, shopkeepers have no choice but to go online.

I have more than one website but Wordpress is a favorite of mine. The only issue I have is that you have to upgrade for a better design or easier way to build a site. However, minor pricing compared to most.

I have had to use the customer service and it was easy with chat. I have a domain and no issues whatsoever unlike others I have used such as go daddy. I would recommend them for a blog or minor business site that you are not using for commerce.

They have been around for a long time and have lead the way for blogging and other website building and could not have much to complain about it except your knowledge for website building would require more than most.

I have had a website with them for over 15 years and have no signs of changing it plus I have my business with wix.com. I know a little overkill but now in these days what is one more. LOL I use this one for blogging and my sudo personal site that I enjoy sharing less professional things plus it is my gram's link too.

Happy hunting and always look for those deals! Never just jump to the first plan but get a promo price!

Tip for consumers:
Look for plan promos also that you may have to upgrade to a website builder or template for easier usage.

WordPress is a great well-rounded place where you have free will whenever you want to build your blog from scratch or just choose a theme you need. There are free and custom paid themes. It took me some time to get the gist of the way everything works, but after going through bunch of tutorials I could happily work with it. It does take some time, but I would definitely recommend this as it's a great platform to work with, very useful with lots of handy plugins.

Wordpress is the #1 CMS in the world. Wordpress core is highly secure so when you read reviews saying Wordpress is not secure, that's 100% false. Wordpress needs plugins to work for the average user and a theme. With that said, your Wordpress site does become more vulnerable because it allows the use of third-party plugins and themes.

Wordpress.org has a large plugin repository. All plugins are reviewed for vulnerabilities. You should be getting your plugins from the Wordpress.org repository. The plugins listed on Wordpress.org are free with some having freeium features.

Yes, Wordpress is safe. Just make sure you are cautious when using a theme or plugin. Research the authors of the plugins and themes, read reviews and stay on top of UPDATES! Easy right?

Tip for consumers:
Wordpress.org is the community driven version to Wordpress.com.

Good overall. But unfortuantley biased moderators such as Jan Dembowski who has personal friendships with developers. This moderator deletes and revises reviews for his friends which I see as corruption at it's worst. I am part of a development team and I had a run in with a horrible developer who likes all his stats but is a pig to deal with when it comes time for support. After Jan Dembowski Moderator revised my feedback and closed the topic. Two of my colleges then put their reviews in and they were deleted and I was muffled, unable to comment anymore. Seeing how a lot of revenue is made here and dishonest tactics are used... well, it makes me sick. Hope something can be done about these people rorting the system.

WordPress is a good starting point for blogging, web development, seo optimisation and just generally dealing with things on the internet. Its great to learn a lot, but after a while it feels slow and bloated. Any kind of functionality that you can't code yourself can be patched it with plug-ins, but the quality is not always good, they cost a bit and could really bog down your website.

I love WP, for it let's me create beautiful pages, has a lot of plugins, which really help out when you need something more. It's pretty easy to use and very customisable, when you know how to do that. Unfortunately for a beginner its not the easiest to use, but anyway, i like WP a lot!

If you want to start your blog, then WordPress is an excellent choice. I thought that this site would be "intermediate" in my career, but no. I still lead my first blog here since 2016.

Using Wordpress you can set up your own corporate website in a matter of minutes. The number of plugins to customize our web and the option to transform it into an electronic commerce, it a perfect CMS for websites for small and medium businesses. Plus, it's cheap :)

I have used Word Press since 2017 to share my travel experiences. Then it was tiresome and difficult to add photos. It was laborious. 2018 it was the similar and I stopped after a few entries because it was so time consuming.
I thought I'd try again this year but found the whole experience to be frustrating, not user friendly in fact it was TERRIBLE to use. A TOTAL WASTE of EFFORT and TIME. Especially when you are travelling who wants to spend HOURS working on a simple blog of text anda few photos. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SITE A TOTAL RIP OFF.

It is not showing the menu. I setup the menu, but it does not show on the page. I did figure out how to set the text color.

A little troublesome

I have created webpages before and I didn't find Wordpress to be that easy to use. I've had problems inserting blocks where I want them. Sometimes they show up at the bottom, not where I tried to put them. When I have put in new forms, it still showed the old form underneath the new one. But the old form did not display in the edit page. It was difficult to get rid of the old form. And sometimes the toggle menus do not open next to the pages. But overall the web development and hosting site is good to use.

Another good semi-automatic site creator out there! They have basic lessons on all the main aspects but anyway you need some skill in using the platform to create something valuable.
