Dropped off an iPad 5th gen that worked perfectly, but needed a replacement charge port (was charging intermittently). Was told 1 week, due to the part having to be ordered. It took 2.5 weeks. I sent my daughter to pick it up. She paid and received the iPad, only to find that there was now a huge bubble under the screen. She asked for them to fix that and was told to return in 30 minutes. She came back and found that there were now what appeared to be scratches under the screen. She called me and I had her request a refund while they fixed it, and that we would return the next day to pay for it and pick it up. We came back the following day. They had "reverted" the repair (by presumably de-soldering the entire charge port connector), and had somehow either disconnected the battery or discharged it completely (and added some "bonus" fingerprints under the screen). They said that they thought that she didn't want to pay, so they couldn't leave it repaired?! There is no way to tell if the screen even works now. I explained the miscommunication and asked them to complete the original repair and I would pick it up later that week. They said that the manager would not allow them to do any work on the unit. Very frustrating and very unprofessional. All we ever wanted was for the unit to be repaired, and in the same shape that we brought it in. We never asked for them to revert anything.

Do not ever use Ubreak Ifix. They give you a warranty and do not stand behind it. I got my Samsung Fold fixed in November last year due to the original screen breaking at the fold. They have a 12 month warranty. I also had dropped it breaking the back glass. Their Fold replacement screen made it until July. Then cracked at the fold. I went to have it replaced and They say because you can see it was dropped they will not warranty their screen. Yes it a as dropped and that was why I paid $220 for the rear glass on top of the cost of the inner screen too. The drop damage is on the outside edge of the phone. THE INNER SCREEN BROKE AT THE FOLD AND YOU WON'T STAND BEHIND IT. YOU WILL NEVER GET MY BUSINESS AGAIN. I WILL ALSO DO EVERYTHING IN MY POWER TO KEEP PEOPLE FROM USING YOUR BUSINESS! O

Tip for consumers:
Apparently, if you get your phone fixed they will just use the damage already showing to deny your warranty. DO NOT USE THIS COMANPY

I will not pay them to put another screen that will just break at the fold again.

6/29/20 -Took laptop to Mokena, IL store to have battery replaced. $60 charge placed on credit card. Told battery will take 2-3 days to come in after order and they will call me when battery arrives. NEVER called.
7/20/20 Received Discover card bill with $60 change posted.
7/21/20 called store. Battery is in, told to bring in laptop tomorrow
7/22/20 Laptop brought in early am, I came back, 5pm. Clerk said they didn't get to it today, Sorry blah, blah, blah. Promises to call next day should not take long to fix.
7/23/2020 not called
7/24/2020 not called, so at 5pm I called --still no one has worked on it. Told them i was picking it up on 7/25/2020 no excuses. Told it might not be ready 7/25 and that they were now leaving for the day.
7/25/2020 they called me to tell me new battery was "defective" so couldn't fix. I picked up product unfixed. Had then reverse credit card charge.
ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC SERVICE. Don't see how they can expect to stay in business long!

WARNING!
If I could give ZERO STARS I would. I took my computer in for a new battery. It should have taken 3 hours. THEY BROKE MY COMPUTER AND TOOK 6 WEEKS TO FIX IT. During the 6 weeks there was an extreme lack of communication. I had to call them 95% of the time to find out what was going on. Since the main person I was working with quit putting notes in the system after the second week it made it even more difficult to find out what was happening. Even though the main person I was working with said he gave me a refund in the first week, he didn't, they kept my money for the whole 6 weeks. I suspect I wouldn't have gotten it back at all except I discovered in the 5th week that I knew the owners mother. I have 7 pages of notes from every interaction with this company so I can't put all that here.

And they lost all my data even though they have 2 posters in the store about how they can recover any data.

JUST DON'T GO HERE.

When our 5+ year old Switch started having charging issues in late September it was clear the charging port had become worn or damaged, comparing it with my brother in law's newer Switch. Never having had to send a gaming console in for repair, I researched extensively and uBreakiFix seemed highly rated and reviewed. Little did I know I was about to embark on the most bizarre and unprofessional repair journey of my life.

At first blush, I was very encouraged. The storefront looked professional with a small foyer and massive LCD screens behind the counter touting all of the range of dynamic electronic fixes. The front desk staff (Patrick S) was prompt and assessed my Switch. At this point I had transferred some data off and the screen was still functioning which they marveled at but the console was down to 20% power with no way to recharge. The quoted $150 for HDMI port parts and labor with a 1-2 week with a 10/10/23 pick up date from 9/26/23 drop off seemed reasonable. I was hopeful when I received an encouraging tracking email.

After about 1.5 weeks of no news, I wanted to check in. The online tracker lacked any information beyond "Repair in Progress" The clerk informed me that the replaced HDMI port wouldn't allow it to charge and they had ordered an additional part for a broken screen and were awaiting shipment. Why hadn't I been notified to this change? Why was the screen no longer working when it did at drop off? There was no explanation. I was told I'd receive a call when the repair was finalized. An additional week and a half droned on with no updates from the team, no changes in the tracker. Finally I called only to be told it was declared unrepairable and the screen no longer powered on, which it had upon drop off. I understood that not all devices can be repaired but why hadn't they given me any indication of the status change? I pleaded with them to transfer my data to microSD at least so I can recover and transfer to a new device. I went there in person 4 hours after the call only to be informed my device was in pieces and couldn't be reassembled that day.

Days rolled by with no call. Now my device had been held hostage for a month. Calls to the store no longer rang through and I waited on hold for nearly an hour. My wife started to call repeatedly later that week only to have the line completely disconnected. She drove out in person to see a store closed for maintenance. Any calls to customers? Zero! Any reasoning given? None! Any timeline for resolution? Absent!

She escalated the ticket to Assurion corporate, they had little else to share. It was only through other reviewers that it became apparent there was a cockroach infestation and likely they had to completely shutter their operation for an extended extermination. Just yesterday my wife liberated our still busted Switch.

I maybe among the few able to articulate how unnecessarily stressful and unprofessional this repair process has been but I'm certain there were hundreds of customers impacted that I'm speaking on behalf of. If you think, as I did, that a local repair shop with corporate quality assurance is enough, think again. Better to ship directly to the manufacturer than to deal with this store's uncommunicative approach. Will never return and hope you can avoid this place as well.

I just got my iPhone 8 today from uBreakiFix it Matteson IL, and it is still broken. I attached pictures. The first picture is one that I took today in the store to show exactly what I was showing the employees as I picked up the phone after it was "repaired" by them. I expressed how disappointed & unhappy I am with their "repair," but they think the phone is fixed. I will not use my phone in the unacceptable condition that it is in, so I feel they have stolen $416.08 from me, which was the full cost of the repair including tax. I know I'm not the only one. I heard plenty of other people coming in and complaining while I was in their store waiting.

Full Experience
3/1/21 I brought my cell phone to uBreakiFix to replace the battery & the back glass. I was told it would be a 24-hour repair
3/2/21 I called for a status update & they told me they needed until Wednesday
3/3/21 They called me at 10:30am to say my phone would be ready in an hour. They called again at 11:00am saying they needed "a little more time" and that they were going to charge me an additional $50 because the charging port was not working. After not hearing back, I called at 5:15pm, and my phone was ready. When I picked up my phone, the front screen was broken. They agreed that it must have been their fault & to replace it for free. After waiting an hour, I got the phone back and the new screen was protruding out from the frame. The employee said that they must have forgotten a screw to secure the screen. After waiting 20 more minutes the employee came back and said the phone was "fixed." The screen was better, but it was still protruding from the frame. The employee told me that could be fixed and that they would need to repair the phone the next day
3/4/21: I called at 1:00pm to get a status update. They told me the screen was fixed, but the new charging port was having issues. They said that I would have to wait for them to order a new charging port, which would be on Friday or Saturday. I told them I need my phone for work and I can't wait any longer for the repair. I asked for a refund, and I was willing to give them back the parts to the phone. I told them that they could do whatever they needed to get the parts back, I just wanted a full refund. They only agreed to refund $143.58 for the battery and charging port, but they would not refund me for the back glass which was $272.50. I told them that doesn't help me out because I wouldn't be able to use the phone without a battery or charging port, so what good would new back glass do for me. I called their main customer support line at *******237. I spoke with a corporate employee who put me on hold after hearing my story to call the Matteson location. When the corporate employee got back to me he told me the same information that the Matteson employees told me, but he added that he would open a "case file" for me, and assured me the phone would be 100% fixed without any issues.
3/5/21 Of course I did not hear anything back
3/6/21 I got a call around 3:00pm on Saturday that my phone was finally completely ready, but I was not able to pick it up that evening, so they said I could pick it up the next day.
3/7/21 I finally was able to pick up my phone, but as I picked my phone up I could feel that the screen and back side of the phone were not sitting properly in the frame of the phone. It's clear when you look at the phone that the screen and back side of the phone were not installed properly. As you can see in the pictures I'm afraid the back glass may completely fall off at any time. I told them that they could have the entire phone if needed. I just want my money back at this point, but they are completely unwilling to do anything. Now I'm left with a phone that I will never use because I can see the inside of the phone, and the front screen and back glass don't feel secure at all. Also, the phone got really hot while I was examining it, but I wasn't using it. The phone wasn't even unlocked. It just got really hot, and that just gives me another reason to never use the phone again.

Do not bring your phone to this store to be fixed. Single handedly the worst experience I have had with customer service. I brought my S6 in for a screen replacement a month ago and just picked up my phone last night. Initially I was told a screen was ordered and I would have my phone back in 2 days. Two days later I am told that the screen that was ordered was defective and that another screen would be ordered. However, they could not order the screen until they could see that one was available in the system. I called every afternoon for an update. After four days of calling, I called again and the clerk looked into the system while I was on the phone at 3pm in the afternoon. Why wouldn't this be the first thing someone does every day? Had I not called, the part would not have been checked on. Thankfully, when the clerk checked, the system was showing one in stock. I asked him to order it, which he told me he did. Two more days pass. I called in to check on the status of the delivery and repair only to find out that the new screen never arrived. I was told that "it must have been a mistake with the system. There still aren't any in stock." More days of me calling the store to check on the status. The following week I'm told by either Jeremy or George that they have decided to order a 3rd party screen. Something "we are not allowed to do, but we want to get your phone back to you." The screen arrives finally, but now there's a new problem. I'm told my phone is not taking a charge and they suspect an issue with the charging port. Now we wait for this repair. Two days later, the charging port is found to be fine, so they suspect the battery. Now we order a battery and wait 3-5 days for delivery. The final call came this week to tell me that they have done everything they can to make my phone operational. I've had this phone for many years. It has never had an issue with charging. Something this place did, broke the phone. I cannot stress it enough. If you have made it this far through my review DO NOT USE THIS STORE! Mechanicsburg, PA

The main reason why I prefer UbreakIfix is because you can fix your phone and it will still be eligible for a trade in because they use preparatory parts. So I want to make a clear distinction. The company is NOT a problem. Unfortunately great companies, without their knowledge, hire unprofessional and forgive me for saying this (inadequate staff/management). I would suggest still using UBreakIfix, but possibly taking the trip to another location.
I brought in my phone on December 22nd. Told them what kind of phone it was and what problem I was experiencing. Almost immediately was met with unnecessary sarchasm. His exact response was "Cool" After asking about pricing and I was told that a diagnostics test would be performed and I should expect a call, just in case they need to order parts, either by the end of day or the next day the 23rd.
I waited until the 26th,No Call)
So I decided to call. Spoke to a lady.she was polite, she apologized and informed me that the tech called out and that I should receive a call by the next day the latest.
Unfortunately I did not receive a call.
So I waited until Thursday to call Dec. 28th to call. Asked for an update and told them that I am still waiting a week for a diagnostics and was met with an extreme cavalier response suggesting that there is nothing that they can do about it. (His exact words were Im sorry YOU FEEL that way.) After confronting him about his response and reminding him that I'm still waiting for a diagnostics he ifinally admits that my phone still has yet to be TOUCHED. And made a promise that it would be done at the end of day. I then ask how can you make a claim when you guys have to order parts. He becomes unraveled and says " we have plenty of parts we might have it." And tells me a technician will call me by End of day.
Later that day I received a cal informing me that they need to order parts.
12 days Later I receive a call informing me that they have received the parts and are ready to start.
When I asked when it will be ready they refused to give a specific date.
Instead of calling they emailed me telling me it was ready. Which btw they only had a record of my email because my girl used their services years ago. MEANING after it was completed they did NOT make an effort to call.

In Conclusion brought in the phone December 22nd.
Received my diagnostic 6 days later.
Took a TOTAL of 20 DAYS to complete
Every time I asked for an update was either met with scarshasm or was given responses that insinuated that I was inconveniencing them.

Outcome: Despite it taking 20 Days the phone was fixed. Fortunately enough for me this was my back up phone that I travel with. So it didn't have an impact on my life. However. They were unaware of that. Taking 20 days with very little to no Communication is unacceptable. I would STRONLY recommend to still use UBREAKIFIX but to go to a different location. Completely unprofessional. Even if the commute inconveniences you. Do yourself the favor and USE a DIFFERENT location. That slight inconvenience potentially may save you DAYS if NOT WEEKS of your time.

He put a new battery in my aged but well-cared for iPod (5th generation, mid-2006!) last night and you'd never know the case had been opened.

When the iPod finally started losing battery life, I consulted with Apple tech support and learned that they no longer support devices that old. The tech suggested I buy a battery online and install it myself, and I did look into it. A new battery would be about $15. Then I looked at the step-by-step instructions and... um, no. Let's leave it to someone who knows what s/he's doing.

I'd had a good experience at the East Side UBreakIFix when I had to have the headphones port replaced, and when I saw there was now a closer location I decided to go there for a diagnosis. They agreed it was the battery (and also that they'd never seen an iPod this old that was in such good condition--thank you, Apple Store guy who recommended this particular protective case 10 years ago). The charge for battery and labor would be $50.

All the websites warned I could lose everything on the hard drive and would have to re-sync (good-bye, old Car Talk podcasts that I'd deleted from my laptop) and I was warned at the store that the case might incur some edge damage in the process of opening it. Also, I probably would have to leave it overnight.

Instead, I got a call four hours later that it was ready. When I picked it up, you'd never know anything had happened to it from the case and I hadn't lost a single song or a podcast.
The use the hcqs screen is good
Best $50 I've spent in a long time!

Went to the Whitby location a month ago for a PS3 repair, I checked their website that claimed they do the work I needed on the model I have. Did the online support chat then called the day before and was told yes they do it. When I got there only then did they tell me they Don't do the work, which they're still advertising on their website. Sent me to another place clear on the opposite side of Toronto, over 80 miles from where I live to a fly by night operation called fasttech.ca that screwed up the work then skipped out. I just cannot trust what they say.
