I like how quick we get appointments and they tell us what they need to get done. Warranty companies are able to call and tell us what the customer needs done, which is awesome.

REDUCING RATING TO 1 star. The issue involving Repairpal.com and Patriot Auto and Truck Repair began around July 2023, and still has not been resolved. The shop still refuses to honor the estimate, and Repairpal.com is not enforcing their contract with them. The response from Repairpal.com today by Chimene Navarro was as follows: "...our shops are expected to honor our estimator, yes, but they don't need to do work with a customer if they choose not to for personal reasons." WOW, I wonder if personal reasons include skin color, color of my shirt, or walking with a limp. Have they heard about a thing called "Discrimination"? I was shocked by her response. I've read their contract and there is no reference to not serving customers based on personal reasons. I would understand if a customer threatened violence or broke the law. However, I did none of that. BUYERS BEWARE! She also accused me of being aggressive in my emails to her, which was strange because all I asked her to do was read the contract that Repair Pal has with its participating shops. This was after she made some idiotic response to my concerns. I suggested that she get a job as a greeter at Walmart if she couldn't handle complaints from customers. It's apparent that Repair pal doesn't have legally binding contracts with their shops, or deliberately choose to not enforce the contract.

Hi Hubert. Thank you for taking the time to submit a review about your recent interaction with RepairPal. We take consumer reviews very seriously, and have opened an investigation into the series of events that led to your dissatisfaction.

From what we’ve uncovered, you first contacted us in July 2023. At that time, we were able to contact the shop in question and we learned that there was a new employee who wasn’t aware of the RepairPal Fair Price Estimator. We provided training around this, and the shop agreed to abide by the estimates we provide. At that time, we advised you to contact the shop to schedule an appointment.

We next heard from you February 2024, and you said “I have not received any contact from the shop. Can you provide me with an update, as they still are listed as a shop that honors your estimate” The shop agreed to honor the estimate discussed in July 2023, and we again advised you to contact them to schedule a repair.

After multiple interactions between you and the shop and you and us about the shop in which all parties were responsive to you and your inquiries, the shop declined to work with you. They’re an independent business and while any work actually performed must abide by fair pricing guidelines, they are able to decline work for any reason. In this case, they didn’t like the content or the tone of your conversations with them. Our own employees also had this experience with you in terms of tone and content of conversations; we wish to help and we wish our interactions to remain pleasant and professional. We wish you well and thank you for providing us with your thoughts so we can examine how we might improve in offering service in the future. We stand for all consumers receiving a fair deal in the care and repair of their cars and we are committed to being a force for good in the car repair industry.

REPAIR SHOP OWNERS BEWARE! RepairPal SUCKS!

Repairpal charges referrals fees for referrals they do not create! We had dozens of referrals that Repairpal was taking credit for that were not generated by their organization. They would charge us 10% referral fees for our own employees and employees family members vehicles. They charged us 10% for my childhood baseball coach that was texting and calling me (shop owner) directly about his vehicles issues. Historically, repairpal would allow us to dispute questionable referral fees that were charged. About a year ago this started to change, and they would charge us for repairs based on limited to no evidence that they were the catalyst for the referral. They customer service team was initially very helpful and thorough, trying to work with us to get to the bottom of the issue and credit us for repair visits that they did not generate. However, they now will charge us for any visit with an account associated with one of their preferred vendors (Agero, USAA, etc). Therefore, repairpal was charging for my close friends and even family to visit my shop.

At any rate, they over charged us to the tune of thousands if not 10's of thousands of dollars over the last few years. We cancelled our account, and they continued to bill us after the closing date and for customers and repair visits that they did not create.

I could go on and on, RP sucks, do not use them!

Hi Jake,

We are fully dedicated to offering high-quality service to both auto repair businesses and consumers. Trust and transparency are at the core of our business, and we are constantly seeking opportunities to improve our service for all parties. If we make a mistake, we would want to get it fixed because that's who we are.

We see that you had been with our programs since May of 2016. We do have partner referral fees and some of the fees go back to the partner - the portion that doesn't goes back into our business to help our shops earn more business referrals. In researching, we do see that we offered goodwill reimbursements even though our invoices were accurately reflecting referrals charged. If the prior partner programs were not a fit for your business, there may be others that you'd like to explore with us.

We'd love to talk with you about partners that would be a good fit for Everett Street Autoworks, message us at Shopsuccess@repairpal.com. Thank you.

Had the valve cover gasket replaced in my BMW 328 (2007) - by far the most expensive. The part was under $100-labor was $800. INSANE. For one hour's work. Hold onto your wallet. Worse than the dealer. Do NOT recommend.

Tip for consumers:
Very disappointed. Felt totally exploited.

I recently utilized the Repair Pal Online System to get an estimate to have the spark plugs in my 2006 Mustang GT changed. The shop located in Dover, DE, was featured as one of their participants. Repair Pal gave an estimate of $301 to $345 to replace the plugs.
When I arrived at the shop at the time and date confirmed by Repair Pal, I was told that my appointment was not in the system. After we resolved that issue, I was given a written estimate of $798.49 to replace the plugs and one hour labor to remove any broken plug ($150 each). The ucharge cost on the spark plugs is huge. They wanted to charge me $469.84 for 8 double platinum type. That's $58.73 per plug. Advanced Auto Parts, which is located accross the street from the shop offers the double platinum plug for $21.99 each. ($18.69 currently on sale) I respectfully declined the service. Repair Pal and the business need to honor their estimates. The difference between $345 and $798 is more than double. Although the Service advisor at the shop was professional, my day was ruined. I had finally budgeted $400 for service, only to be disappointed by this experience.

I used repairpal to estimate and locate a mechanic to replace my spark plugs. When I got the price it seemed fair si I booked an appointment. I dropped off my vehicle the next day and they told me the price was going to be $300 more!

I told and showed the auto shop the repairpal price. They laughed and said "repairpal gets a commission for sending you to us. They always quote around 50% lower than you'll really oay".

I left. Very poor business model. Quoted price and referral shop below in oics.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We're sorry to hear that you had a negative experience with one of our recommended shops. It's important to note that the quotes provided by RepairPal do not account for taxes, diagnostics, and other fees, which may vary depending on the specific repair and location. We take claims of inaccurate pricing very seriously and will investigate this matter. However, we understand the frustration this can cause and we will work to improve our services to ensure that our customers receive accurate and transparent pricing information. Please know that this quote was honored at 50 other nearby RepairPal certified shops, and we encourage you to find a shop in our network that will meet your needs.

Went to RepairPal Certified DNS/Central Bergen Auto Shop in Bergenfield for repair. They did complete break work including rotor, pads and oil flush and some other repair as well. Break parts was wrong and not even correctly installed. Went three times back to shop but the owner was not able to fix it. Finally Dealer repair and put new break parts to my car. Owner is dishonest and I don't recommend to no one. I would like to ask RepairPal how you certified this Auto shop if they are not qualified and not good mechanic. You should cancel their certification. I went their as your certification and trust your organization and now RepairPal looks bad. Very disappointed from RepairPal and never use your certified Auto Shop again. Thank you,

I've worked at an auto repair business and repeatedly seen RepairPal allow dishonest people to just make stuff up and submit it onto a repair business's RepairPal page. Stuff like people coming by for free air in their tires and they shop took 5 minutes to air up the tire and the customer submits a "1 star review" and then claims that it took 2 hours and tells everyone to blackball the business. It seems that RepairPal is like most services like this and as long as they make money they let people post whatever they want.

I'm sorry to hear that you received an untrue and unfair review on your RepairPal page. It can be frustrating and discouraging to receive negative feedback that does not accurately reflect the quality of your business.

It's important to remember that online review platforms like RepairPal rely on user-generated content, which means that reviews can come from anyone, regardless of their experience with your business. While the vast majority of reviews are honest and constructive, there are unfortunately some instances where people may submit false or misleading information.

However, I would like to assure you that RepairPal takes the integrity of its platform very seriously and employs a variety of measures to ensure that reviews are as accurate and trustworthy as possible. This includes a thorough review process for each submission, as well as tools to detect and remove fraudulent or malicious reviews.

I hope this explanation helps to alleviate some of your concerns and that you will continue to use RepairPal to connect with new customers and showcase the quality of your auto repair business.

This particular business associated with RepairPal is terrible and will try to rip you off. When you contact RepairPal about this business associated with it, you are ignored. They try to talk circles around you because they don't know what they are doing. My car has been at one of their facilities for over a week and this facility has tried to over charged me. My car is still under warranty. What they thought was wrong wasn't covered. Told me my car was ready. Went to pick car up, still broken. It was only then they took everything I told them at the time I bought the car in that was happening seriously. They have not kept me informed of what's going on with my car. When I call, just rude. I'm just going to have to get my car towed to another shop at this point. A joke. DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT use any repair facility associated with Repair Pal. The one I'm using is Benton Rd. Auto Repair.

I asked a simple question about tinted windows and they went on saying they can't answer this because they don't talk about stuff like "mods" on cars. Like I just asked a simple question all you had to say is "Yes, you can combine the two. Or No, Those aren't the same thing." Not "We aren't allowed to answer this because window tint is illegal in some states (Which as we all should know isn't true it's legal in all states just the % of window tint is what you would worry about.)" Simple question w/ a dumb answer. I highly don't recommend.

I figured my 98 beater needed freon but wanted an estimate first instead of asking for an estimate on freon. RepairPal suggested a repair shop that was nearby. I was able to make an appt online the night before & received an email/text to confirm the drop off time in the morning. The shop I dropped it off at has over 300 positive reviews with 4.5+ ratings out of 5 so I thought it the best choice.

When I received the estimate, I was pleasantly surprised that they didn't try scare tactics to upsell on other items I knew about, although they did give an erroneous estimate on 1 of 3 items that I questioned them about and they said it was a typo on the labor hours $3000 vs $300 is a big difference but that was not RepairPal's fault.

I used RepairPal to get other estimates and if the repair shop won't match the estimate for the same repair estimates they gave me, I will go elsewhere. Very happy with results, thank you Repair Pal.

The only reason I gave one less star is because they don't have all the items on their list to get an estimate. I think a wheel bearing replacement is common but they don't have it as an item.

Repair pal does not allow negative reviews on its site. Their certification means nothing. I used a repair shop with glowing recommendations from repair pal. I have never seen such poor workmanship, lack of professionalism and on top of that they did not fix my car they damaged it. They did not honor the warranty. There is no way on RepairPal to leave a negative review. I think the shops just pay a fee to be listed somewhere that on one can leave a negative review.

I finally found a way to contact RepairPal and they did respond. They are currently looking into my complaint and I am hoping for a resolution. I'll post the results once I have them.

Tip for consumers:
don't trust the reviews on RepairPal. they do not allow negative reviews.

Hi Patricia,
Our review process is of the highest standard - we pull customer data from the shop management system and do email and phone reviews with all their customers. We don't allow people to post unverified reviews on our site, and instead send 3rd party verified surveys after work is completed at the shop. In any case, I am more concerned that you get the service you deserve and that your core issues are resolved. I understand that we are in contact with you and you are working with one of our senior managers at RepairPal to get this squared away. We stand behind the work our shops do, and if for any reason it doesn't get completed correctly, we will help you to sort it out. Thank you for giving us that opportunity.

It is very hard to give any credibility whatsoever to a supposedly expert car site that gives a high probability for the cause of a diesel engine, Mercedes-Benz 300 SD, running irregularly to be either spark plugs or ignition coil. Maybe these people should either read a simple book on how diesel engines work, or maybe hire somebody who does.

Thank you for your review, and we appreciate your feedback. We want to assure you that our team of automotive experts is dedicated to providing the most accurate and reliable information possible to our users.

We understand that diesel engines work differently from gasoline engines, and we strive to provide tailored information for different types of engines and vehicles. In this case, it seems that our recommendation for the cause of your Mercedes-Benz 300 SD running irregularly may not have been appropriate for a diesel engine.

We apologize for any confusion or frustration this may have caused, and we want to assure you that we take your feedback seriously. We will review our content and ensure that it accurately reflects the unique characteristics and needs of diesel engines.

Received the estimate range for a listed repair to my vehicle. Went to a recommended shop and received a quote that was 2.25 times the high end of the estimate range. When I questioned the shop about why large difference I was told that RepairPal estimates are for Hondas and that they ignore the information i supply. I left a shop because they were higher then the high end only to be directed to another shop that was more the twice the cost.

Totally useless site. I estimated the repair I needed and start calling the affiliated shops. They almost laughed when I told them what was the estimate- they asked for price 3 times higher than the high end of the estimate. When I told them the estimated price in RepairPal site they just told me "They got it wrong". I wrote a letter to RepairPal explaining the situation and almost instantly got response from Sr. Manager of Partners etc. Mr. Hajjar, who asked me about the repair I need and make and model of my car. I was impressed, but in vain. Abruptly he stopped responding to my emails and did not pick up the phones listed on his message. Overall my impression is that this site is not only completely useless, but is just a waste of time and resources.

I had to get my AC fixed for the third time on a car I bought from Carmax, and was referred to Andre at RepairPal. He was very helpful and knowledgeable, got me referred to a local repair place, so I didn't have to drive the car back to Carmax, 30+ miles away. I was amazed when I went to pick it up and was told it was paid in full by Andre and RepairPal. Andre's help and support had already sold me on him being one of the "good guys!" Way to go, Andre! My son was away at college and car wont start. I go to Repair Pal and chose one of their 5 star review auto shops, All Auto Repair in Tallahasee Florida. Towed car to shop and was told it needed a new alternator. They supposedly put one in, as well as 2 belts. $610 later my son started the car and left. Next day he goes to Walmart and same problem. Car wont start. He and I both tried calling both oh numbers for this business but neither worked. After 1 1/2 hours of this my son took an Uber to the shop. Garrett tells me the problem is the battery. He tells me TODAY it has a bad cell. He offers a new Autocraft battery with charges for $135. He says the battery checked out when he finished repairs day before. Now I'm thinking I paid $610 for a new alternator I didn't need because of his missed diagnoses. He even charge for the tow back to his shop. To make matters worse he claimed his "card reader" wasn't working and I needed to pay another way. My son had to go to his bank to get the payment. I will never trust Repair Pal or use them again.

Hi Cynthia, We always do our best to be as accurate with pricing as possible. Our estimator is based on OEM parts and provides a range for each repair because we understand pricing will vary based on labor rates and the availability/pricing of parts. Occasionally, the estimator range will include additional repairs if they are necessary for completing the original job, which may be the case here. Would you mind sharing what you needed to get repaired? We would be happy to look into this specific repair to ensure we are correct with our pricing ranges.

My 2000 Camaro was well maintained and I have receipts to prove it. It didn't have any major problems and ran great. At about 120,000 miles it intermittently (3 or 4 times) cut-off upon entering/exiting driveways over the course of 2 months. Yet, it would start back up immediately and did not cut off while I was driving. However, the last time it cut-off the check engine light came on. A co-worker told me she used Wayne & Dave's Automotive for some of our clients, which is why I took my car there.

I described my car's problems to Tina, when the shop opened. She recommended a full diagnosis of my car. I agreed and left it there. I called the shop around 12 pm because no one called me. Again, I spoke with Tina and asked if they diagnosed my car yet. She said yes, but the repair bill needed to be written and they'd call me back.

Later, Tina left me a detailed voice message stating, "If we did everything that needs to be done, its $915…That's all four O2 Sensors, Top End cleaning, clean Mass Airflow Sensor, and the diagnosis time. So, give me a call back & let me know what you want to do, *******924. It's about 1:30 pm, thanks."

I called the shop and spoke with Chris (Manager). I asked how they diagnosed my car and if there was a warranty for the repairs. Chris said they visually inspected, test drove, and used a machine to diagnose it. He said it would take 2-days for the repairs and I'd have a 2-year/24,000-mile warranty covering all parts and labor if I agreed to have all their recommended repairs done. I agreed to all the repairs.

I picked up my car a couple days later during my lunch break and paid $993.90. I drove about 1/2 a mile to the gas station from their shop. My car smelled like something was burning and it cut off upon entering the gas station driveway. I opened the hood of the car but did not see smoke or fire. Several times, my car hesitated, cut off, then started up as I entered and exited the gas station. I called the shop and spoke with Tina again. I informed her of how poorly my car was running. She asked me to bring the car back in 2 days due to them being "backlogged". I did.

Again, I spoke with Tina and also pointed out that the invoice showed a 1-yr/12,000-mile warranty but Chris told me I'd have a 2-yr/24,000 warranty. Tina informed Chris about the discrepancy in the warranty in my presence. Chris laughed, said "diagnoses are not warranted". He then stated "It's going to cost you to repair whatever's wrong with it". I suggested that he looked at the car before trying to charge me more fees and left my car.

Later, Chris called me and tried to charge another $379 to replace the Master Airflow Sensor. I pointed out that part was supposed to have been taken care of. I suggested he check the invoice and told him about Tina's original voice message, which included the Master Airflow Sensor. Chris said he would check the invoice and call me back.

Chris didn't call me back. Instead, he called my co-worker, whom I later found out was his friend. My co-worker told me I could pick up my car and Chris stated it had been repaired without the additional $379, as a courtesy to the place where I work. I mentioned to my co-worker that it was unprofessional for Chris to call her instead of me. I said I'm not her client and our job did not pay nearly $1,000 for the repairs…I did.

When I picked up my car, Chris used a black marker to color over and voided the warranty in front of me. I asked him why he did that. He said because 2nd repair was unrelated to the 1st repair. I pointed out the Master Airflow Sensor listed on the original invoice, referred to Tina's voicemail, which also talked about the Master Airflow Sensor, and mentioned that his shop supposedly ran a comprehensive full diagnosis. I asked Chris several times if he was going to honor his warranty. He didn't respond to my question but told me to leave because the shop was now closed. I left.

I drove my car about 3 days. Then, parked it because it was still running poorly, smelling like something was burning, and cut off more than it did when I originally brought it to Wayne & Dave's Automotive. I attempted to have my car smogged shortly thereafter but it didn't pass. It never failed smog before Wayne and Dave's so-called repair. I eventually had to sell my car at below market price because those problems didn't go away and I informed the buyer of the problems. My job checked with our clients that utilized Wayne & Dave's shop for their vehicle repairs, which my job previously paid for. Our clients were still in need of repairs for their cars, which were supposed to have already been fixed by Wayne & Dave's. My job no longer uses Wayne & Dave's Automotive to repair our customers' vehicles.

This site doesn't validate car repair shops in any logical way, other than customers that can afford to go to these locations. They are in California. How could they possibly check reviews of a shop in PA, other than the high-paying customers? Are these people even mechanics? Do they know anything about vehicles? There are other locations in my area that could be on this site, but just don't get involved in these politics. I emailed the site about their data collection methods and never got an answer.

Hey K. H., we're so sorry about your experience and the difficulty finding information about our program. We want to assure you that every shop is fully certified by our Automotive team, which has ASE Certified mechanics up to the Master Technician level speaking with shops.

Our certification has multiple core components to make sure customers are taken care of. We verify the parts supplier of the shop to ensure only high-quality parts go into people's vehicles. We also check into the training of hired technicians and how long the shop has been in business. We have requirements for current training of technicians to ensure customers are dealing with shops that are using the latest technology, especially as cars are becoming more and more like computers everyday! Speaking of technology, we're also looking into how the shop operates day-to-day – computer systems, invoicing, etc. We also make sure shops offer a minimum one year warranty on all parts and labor. Standing behind your work is a must in order to be a part of the RepairPal Network. We also back up that warranty nationally, so if you find yourself stranded because something went wrong with the water pump you jump had fixed, we will ensure you get back in a shop and get it fixed under our warranty. And of course, the shop must ALWAYS honor our fair price, no matter who walks through the door.

The last aspect which you touch upon is our customer survey of the shop to ensure the majority of interactions with the shop are positive. Because most review sites don't have implementations in place for review padding or sniffing out fake reviews from people, we only speak to customers who have actually visited the shop recently through invoicing. This ensures that each and every review is truthful and the shop has no way of mingling with the process. Thankfully, in order to do this, we don't actually have to be on site interviewing folks! We do all of this online or over the phone, so we're able to certify shops inside and outside of California. If all of these aspects check out, the shop has the opportunity to officially enter the program with RepairPal. We know that's a lot of information, but anyone who is in the network has been through this whole process.

I hope that sheds some light on the process for you. I also want to apologize that your email to us slipped through the cracks! RepairPal is in no way automated, so we're real people on the other end of the line who always want to help. Occasionally, we get bombarded with marketing emails asking for data, so there's a good chance yours might have been marked with that. We're always happy to answer any questions either through email, but also through social media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn). You can email me personally at community@repairpal.com.

Thank you again and we hope you'll use RepairPal, whether it's for figuring out an issue, getting an estimate on work, or finding a shop close by. -KB

I recently discovered that Repair Pal was charging us a 10% referral fee on our regular customers who were using the Aergo tow network for a roadside assistance benefit probably related to their auto insurance policy. That is NOT a referral when our customer is requesting to be towed to us, their regualr mechanic. I hope other shop owners are aware of this, we were cheated hundreds if not thousands of dollars before I wised up to what they were doing. They never denied it and just said it was my responsibility to identify those "charges" and request they be removed.
