Started training the wwka program recently and find it fantastic, the detail shown in the check point tutorials is unbelievable and on top of that there is loads of fitness stuff as well 30 day challenge and loads of stretching videos and if you ask a question about anything you need help with you get a really fast answer, I'm really enjoying the training and have lost a fair bit of weight since I started and learned some really good karate

Since my training group was disbanded due to the pandemic, I was looking for a way to continue my training in karate. When I came across WWKA I was skeptical at first. Learning martial arts online requires very good instructions and a lot of personal discipline. However, the way WWKA teaches convinced me: for each technique there is a detailed explanation, as well as explanations of the points to pay special attention to. With the follow along lessons you have a good possibility to train the techniques until you master them. As soon as you have questions, you get them answered via chat or email in no time. Finally, you can take an exam via video upload, which is reviewed and assessed by Sensei John Bryan. All in all, I am very satisfied because now I can train whenever I want and repeat the lessons as often as I want. Definitely looking for becoming a lifetime member.

BMABA has already declared that they have no links to such ONLINE KARATE. So, how can online-karate.com advertise such a false guarantee that belts would be accredited through BMABA? I am posting the original link of declaration from BMABA here.

https://bmaba.org/instructor/an-update-our-policy-on-online-training/

Moreover, BMABA has replied to my email that not a single black belt has been issued to any course via online-karate.com ever.

The BMABA did support the WWKA online program but changed their policies regarding online training, below is the original email from the founder of the BMABA

"Thank you very much for taking the time to demonstrate the syllabus to us - it's clearly of the quality we're looking for.

Feel free to link back via the website if it will help with your club's progression, and if we have any inquiries on the program we'll be happy to support you."

Many thanks,
Giovanni

As soon as we had been updated on the BMABA policies we adapted our website and information

John Bryan advertises his karate style as Kanzen Ryu Karate, but I found his content, approach and kata the same as Go Kan Ryu, not surprising really as he use to be an ex Go Kan Ryu instructor. I have nothing against the instructor or style, but I do want to know what I'm studying, and if it's a legitimate source. On all of the Kanzen Ryu websites it states that Kanzen Ryu is a style founded by Shinan Varasteh in Iran, fusing the karate styles of - Shorinji Ryu - Wado Ryu - Goju Ryu.
Like any traditional karate teachings, a teacher should always be open to sharing their lineage and current teachings. In my personal opinion I would say that what John Bryan teaches is not Kanzen Ryu karate but a slightly adapted Go Kan Ryu syllabus, and therefore should not be promoted as Kanzen Ryu Karate.

Thanks for you feed back Adam, we are asked a lot about what the style we teach here at the WWKA and this is openly spoke about on our FAQ section of our website here it is again

"What style of karate will i be learning?"
The style of karate you will be learning through the WWKA is Kanzen Ryu this means complete school. There are many karate schools that train under Kanzen Ryu as it allows that school to teach a mixture of traditional karate styles. There are well over 40,000 kanzen Ryu practitioners worldwide leaning the universally accepted principles and philosophy of Karate-do that have been practiced for 1000's of years in Okinawa Japan. The styles taught through the WWKA are a mixture of Shotokan, Wado Ryu, and Goju Ryu Karate, you will learn a selection of kata from each of these styles plus strikes, blocks, and kicks that are also used by all three styles, hence the name complete school (Kanzen Ryu). Also Go-Kan-Ryu also use three style of karate which i have all so trained

So yes there may be some likenesses just like there is in any other karate style, of which there are many also all certification given by the WWKA internationally recognized
Via the BMABA, the BMABA is a leading worldwide recognized independent Martial arts and Boxing Association, all certification given through the WWKA is fully endorsed through the BMABA

Hope this clear any confusion for you

Regards
John Bryan

John is a great instructor and he responds to any questions you have usually within 24 hours. The online class is organized and easy to understand. All you have to do is go to your designated belt level, click on the training video, and follow along with John as he guides you through the techniques. It is similar to other work out videos but you are learning karate instead. I highly recommend this online course to anyone who is looking to learn karate and earn a black belt.

Sensei Bryan has created a fantastic program to allow people to train in traditional karate wherever and whenever they want. The instructions are clear and concise and there is a wide range of training resources available. Sensei Bryan is an excellent instructor and encourages you to push through your limitations. I have enjoyed the challenge of the black belt program, and look forward to continuing on my karate path with Sensei Bryan. Osu!

A great and useful martial art, made simple to learn, yet gets you to excel. MasterBryan who is so good and passionate about this breakers it down by multiple check points through which you should be able to guide yourself and get correct moves. He is very fair in grading and also gives you honest and precise feedback to get the best in you.
I appreciate this so much that I want to post a video review as soon as I can figure out how to post it.

For many years I had wanted to get into Karate as I send my kids to the local Dojo here in Melbourne Australia, but for me I could never commit as an International Airline pilot flying 24/7 shift work rosters its near impossible to make scheduled classes or belt tests. I have researched all the online Dojos and decided John Bryans WWKA would be the best fit for me. Since joining 3 weeks ago, I have been very impressed with the training material and Sensei Johns instructional technique a true professional breaking down techniques with the check point system. The flexibility of this unique course has allowed me to train all over the world whilst away on Layovers in Hong Kong with work to Honolulu whilst on Holidays. I passed my Yellow Belt Test a few days ago after working hard for it and am enjoying the training to Orange Belt. Highly recommended should have done it years ago.

I found John's website 3 months ago, I needed something that could offer me structure in the way I wanted to learn. The online karate is second to none they make it simple in a step by step guide, I rang him up before I signed up and told him of my needs and he said I assure you this set up is for you. I must say it's excellent. If you need simplicity a sensai who knows his stuff then he is your man.

I would like to say that this is a great online learning dojo. Being able to train in a way that you feel comfortable and in the privacy of your own home. The lessons are true and the checkpoint system that Sensei John shows you makes the training fun and easy to understand. And the feedback on questions and reply's are always answered in a timely manner. I believe if your looking for a online system that works and isn't a belt factory this is the place to go.

This program was tough. Don't expect to get your black belt in 12 months unless you have past martial arts experience and tons of time to train to perfect techniques. The reason I say this is because you test by video submissions. This means that your videos can be slowed down, and paused, to check that your technique is perfect, or to the level of proficiency that is expected. For training, you are given an online video curriculumn through the website. You can only access videos that are for your belt level, and you move up as you pass tests. There are pre-recorded classes that you can join in on, and you can even join in on real time classes on facebook throughout the week. Don't think that you will just breeze through this because it is online. Mr. Byan makes sure of this. He will spot every little detail that is wrong in your videos and make you do it over until you perfect your technique. This kind of critique should be expected for an online program though since you don't have 1 on 1 physical contact. Another nice thing about this class is that you can contact him directly anytime and get 1 on 1 ctitique. Mr. Bryan doesn't let you take shortcuts and he will make you earn it. I already knew most of the techniques and some of the kata from past training before starting this program, and it still took me 2 years to get 1st Dan. That was training 2-5 days a week and at least an hour a day. Also, to add, he gave me the option of taking my test at his dojo in the UK, and he also holds seminars which you can attend, even if you live in another country.
If you want to make the most out of this program, find at least one other person to practice with so that you have some physical 1 on 1 training. I trained a little with my wife and my son, but mainly with one of my friends who took Tae Kwon Do. Finding an abled body will allow you to practice blocking, striking, and self defense with another person. You can train technique and conditioning by yourself but you can't really train self defense without another person. You should also at least buy a punching bag, and/or a century Bob to practice techniques by yourself. You need a target to strike.

Edit: I took this program before Covid 19 hit so Mr. Bryan may have some restrictions on testing at his dojo or joining seminars. Also, since covid 19 hit.

I like the online-karate website and training because it suits my busy working schedule. I work within health care, and shifts are part of the industry, this leaves me unable to attend regular classes. This training course so far is very informative, friendly and easy to learn. Although it's not an easy route to gain belts, you still need to put the hard work and effort in yourself.
If you're looking for an online course in karate I'd suggest this one because it's great value for money, you can learn at your own peace, you are in direct contact with your instructor and the content is well presented and delivered.
I'm very happy in choosing this course so far and I look forward to my future karate journey.

I am really enjoying the program, as it has given me back the joy of training along with an instructor, setting goals, and working toward them to continually improve on my knowledge and add to my techniques. In looking at a few different online programs that offer testing, I concluded that this program is the best for me, as I found the technique, teaching style and the instructional material to be what I am looking for to help me achieve my goals. I really appreciate Sensei John Bryan for putting together such a comprehensive program and making it available for anyone who wants to learn, or just get back to a previous level and excel.

Thank you,
Todd

If you're reading this review, you are probably where I was not so long ago: looking for an online, flexible and efficient Karate learning program. I'm so glad I decided to go for it, because it has been a life changer since I subscribed. Father of a 17 month old, it was quasi impossible for me to attend a class at a physical dojo (I tried) with most classes during the evening (exactly when I want to spent time with my daughter) and not compatible with my full-time job. That's why this karate online program has been a dream saver for me. The dream to one day reach black belt level. Before it was only a distant dream, but now it's a real goal from which I'm getting closer every day thanks to Sensei John Bryan's online Karate program. And because the courses are available to you 24/7, I can train at anytime, for me it's very early in the morning, before the rest of the family wakes up, and you can also continue to train when you're on vacation!
Another point that makes this program brilliant, is the quality of the teachings from Sensei John. Every video is a private lesson for you and you only. He his very specific and will walk you through every important checkpoints of every techniques to make sure you have solid foundations in your karate. He also encourages you and provide specific videos for warming up and strecthing.
Last but not least, Sensei John makes himself easy to contact and will answer any questions you have by email pretty quickly. This also makes it feel like an ongoing private lesson.
So here you are, if you want to benefit from the teachings of a private Sensei that will train you through all the belts for a very reasonable cost then join me and many others in this amazing program!

I have been practicing Karate for many years now but never been able to grade or reach any belt above the white belt because of life and its unexpected events. I've always moved to another place, stopped my practice because of an event or changed my instructor because of the unsuitable schedule and repeated all the program from scratch! In today's fast-pace times, it is very difficult to commit to a traditional program where we go to a fixed place and stick with a specific schedule... and places to practice karate are not always near where we live. Online-karate is the only solution to solve this problem and following the instructor via video is better, for me, than following an instructor in the class because I feel like it is a private course and I can pause, repeat as many times as I want. Online-karate is also cheaper! And the instructor is available to answer my questions and comment the videos that I submit very clearly! I really like it this way and I recommend online-karate to anyone :)

Tip for consumers:
Why not try? You have nothing to loose!

My name is David Zoppi and I am a student of the Kanzen Karate Academy. The online-karate platform is wonderful for people who work and do not have the time to attend classes because it provides the flexibility and convenience of learning at home while being able to access lessons anytime of the day or night. The level of instruction is extraordinary! Sensei John is an outstanding instructor, and he teaches you step-by-step in a way that is fun and provides comprehensive instruction, feedback and intensive training to help you to grow, to understand, to learn and to achieve. I highly recommend Kanzen Karate Academy.

Sensei John Bryan is the greatest martial arts instructor one could possibly have. He really focuses on performing the movements correctly and flawlessly. Everything is top notch about this program from the training, the video quality, and even the great Japanese music that is played during the training. Sensei Bryan even teaches the Japanese terminology for each of the movements and the number counting for each of the repetitions. It had been my lifelong dream to earn a Black Belt, but when I was younger it seemed that every time I began training in some martial art, the instructor would soon move to another city and I would be left without an instructor. So this is great as a online program, I don't have to worry about Sensei Bryan moving to another city. I also work evening shifts, which would make it nearly impossible to attend a local Dojo. But with this online program, I am able to come home from work and do the Karate lessons at 1-3 AM in the morning. So far this program has been awesome and I can't wait until tomorrow's training. Sensei Bryan always is so fun to watch and train with, and I can't wait to start on my next belt tomorrow. Thank you Sensei!

Hi. My name's Arllington. I'm from Brazil.

I had training Karate for some years in a school next to my house. But, my job and college were taking all my time. Searching online training methods, I found sensei John and his school of karate. Then, I began my thaning with his method. It is awesome. Although my English is not good, I can understand every class because sensei John explains and shows techniques and movements clearly. The pedagogy adopted by the sensei is very good too. Classes and contens are systematically and progressively prepared and sensei always gives online support.

I definetly recomend!
