“Excellent Experience”

My wait time was only a matter of minutes. The clarity of the video was excellent. Dr. Leighton listened carefully to my complaints and prescribed my refills. I would highly recommend them for your medical needs.

“Subpar Medical Care”

H P.
10/2/21

I called to request a prescription of a medication suggested by the hospital and my PCP because I was unable to get in to see my PCP for 3 weeks. After giving the healthtap doctor the diagnosis given by the hospital, he wrote down a totally different diagnosis and refused to write a prescription because it was too soon to get one according to him. He said to come back next week to request another one. Why? Only to charge me again? That makes no sense. Don't use this service unless you want to be out a lot of money, while continuing to be sick.

Made an appointment. Got a link. Logged in, was told to wait for 15 minutes. Waited. Then was told that the visit was in progress and the doctor was on his way. I had the option to start texting the doctor, which I did after waiting for 10 minutes and then 20 minutes. No response... crickets. Do they even have doctors? Is this a total scam? Signing up and giving them the payment went super smoothly. Actually getting service... nothing. Still waiting for a refund. Beware!

Paid the $10 - set up the information on it's Mickey Mouse website. I wanted a prescription for Trazadone to help with sleep. Trazadone is a very safe, non-addictive SSRI. Was told I could use Benedryl or Melatonin -- I have both of those over the counter medications. Canceled the subscription immediately. What an effing joke.

They took my payment for multiple months before I noticed and I had canceled. I canceled and they told me I didn't have an account. Then I got billed again, they assured me it was canceled. Still getting charged! Had to lock my credit card to stop payment.

I eded up tapping into HealthTap when I was in between full time college work and actual work; needless to say I hardly had the time to drive to the hospital and wait in the long line with other MediCal insurance holders...
With HealthTap the doctor was able to "see" me right away (most GP's are available 24/7) and called in necessary medication to my pharmacy, unfortunately, he misspelled my name, so my insurance declined me coverage and I ended up having to cough up $79 out of pocket.
However, the online doctor strictly advised me to go in to see a GP IRL, perhaps because virtual hospital visits are still far from being standard practice.
So, depending on the case and health history, HeathTap can be either very effective and efficient way to get well, or a complete waste of money.

Hi Julie,

I hope this message finds you well.

I'm sorry that it's been so long since we have located this review in order to reach out. We read your comments, and would like to ask some other questions related to your experience if you have the time.

You noted that the doctor misspelled your name during the consult or on the medication? This would not be possible because all account details are controlled by the user (you). Would it be possible to share with us the email address you used to create your HealthTap account? Changing the name under your profile is as simple as selecting the "Health Profile" tab in the main menu.

Also, regarding your comment about needing to see a doctor "in-person," it is simply a reality that not all use-cases can be handled best virtually. There will always be a need for in-person evaluations, however we aim to remove as many inefficiencies as possible by taking the best use-cases that can be treated without in-person contact.

Although a lot has changed in the past 1.5 years, any additional feedback you have to help us improve our platform would be much appreciated. If you have the time, I invite you to check out the website again and try out new features like Dr. Ai.

Let us know if there is anything else we can do to help. We hope to remedy this relationship and improve your experience on HealthTap next time.

Thank you.

Regards,
The HealthTap Team

Dr. Was very professional. I was sent reminders of the visit and logging on was effortless. She was punctual and very thorough. She prescribed necessary medications and offered aftercare as well. Very satisfied with both visits. Glad I didn't listen to all of the negative reviews.

So I called with a cough and the doctor prescribed medication but the pharmacy said they couldn't fill it because the doctor is not active. I thought they would straighten it out but it's day 2 and still no medication. Which means the doctors are not real doctors.

I specifically stated the names of my prescriptions that needed to be renewed while creating my appointment, explained that I have medical records that are available to share if needed and the appointment began. I was greeted by "Dr. Elvia A Greathouse" with a message that read "Good afternoon"... whoever this so called Doctor is seems not to be a very well practiced "health professional". I then reiterated my disorders and the medications I needed as well. Dr. Greathouse then responded

"1:57 PMDr. Elvia Greathouse
I'm afraid that HealthTap is unable to prescribe any of those medications."

One of the medications was BIRTHCONTROL PILLS... I'm completely at a loss of words.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ON EVEN THINKING THAT THIS COMPANY IS ANYTHING REMOTELY CLOSE TO A COMPANY THAT CAN PROVIDE TRUE HEALTH CARE.

I added the PDF of the "transcript conversation" between Dr. Elvia pro life Greathouse" below.

Went to healthtap after episode of ketoacidosis and stay on the hospital.
The hospital kick me out on insulin and heart drugs to follow up with my pcp which I didn't have.so I chose healthtap. Explain my situation to 2 differant doctors. They did basic blood work and my numbers were all good but my sugar kept bottoming out. My a1c after 3 months was at 5.5 yet I'm still a type 1 diabetic? So I canceled my subscription because for 1 year 2 of your Doctors wouldn't address the questions of how a 57 year old with numbers like I have is type1 diabetic. The answer is there is no way I could be type1 without an underlying condition. Which they should have known and tested for but didn't. All both doctors did is look at the bad numbers on my blood work and add prescriptions. So I've been using insulin needlessly for a year because they failed as Doctors. When I tried to communicate with my latest Doctor on Heathtap about concerns he just completely ignored me. Now heathtap won't let me talk to anyone. Went to them for guidance on hypertension and diabetes pre-diabetes. My fasting blood sugar is100 or less and never spikes after being off insulin for 7days and my BP is 120/80. No thanks to heathtap. Pill pushers

I felt I could trust the service to prescribe an effective dosage to treat a simple UTI (bladder) infection. The doctor prescribed 250 mg of Cipro, 2x per day, for 3 days. Didn't work and I was told I'd have to pay another $49 for another consult to have the prescription filled at the level it should have been filled to begin with. Went to urgent care and the doctor said to effectively treat the infection would be 500 mg, 2x per day, for ten days with the Cipro. Checked with my primary care provider and his past prescriptions were of the same 500/2x/10 days as prescribed by the urgent care doctor. In addition, I asked the original pharmacist as well and he said he was surprised of the initial prescription as well. They must make their money by ineffectively treating so that you must come back. I spent $49 when I could have had the proper diagnosis done at no charge through health insurance but I was in extreme pain and am on bed rest with a broken ankle healing from major surgery and figured this should be a siimple prescription to take care of the problem and $49 would be worth dragging my ankle around town. Not so!

Hi Christine,

I'm sorry to be reaching out so far beyond the date of your experience, but I thought I'd give it a try.

I'm sorry you didn't have a good experience using HealthTap! If you have the time, it would be great if you could provide us with the email address you used to create your HealthTap account. That way, we can have our Medical team review/assess the doctor's treatment from the consult you completed. Obviously if a doctor is prescribing incorrect or ill-advised dosages, we want them evaluated in accordance with our Standard of Care.

Besides that, we would love to have any other feedback you're willing to share about your experience. A lot has changed in the past 10 months, but regardless we are always trying to improve on our practices and software.

Thank you.

Kind Regards,
The HealthTap Team

Poor support staff response when a billing error was made. Website is not well designed and difficult to navigate and understand. Technical difficulties are common making a successful consultation difficult.
