I was going to make a complaint. However, seeing what people wrote for their trivial reasons to denigrate a really good company and stores/staff I want to tell you Fred Meyer stepped up Alaska's game when they came in. We now expect fresh products, excellent service and variety in our shopping. I am shocked with the reasons people wrote for making Fred Meyer less than 2 stars on this site and will most likely doubt any star ratings this site gives in the future.
I was at the self-checkout line at the Orchards, WA Fred Meyer tonight and bought a few items including a 6-pack of beer. The checkout clerk wanted to scan my drivers license saying she had to. I said no and requested a manger. She refused to sell me the beer so I said "fine" and left it behind. I refuse to have my license scanned and send all my data to the Kroger Corporation.

They force you to use instacart, and will not reiimburse for their stupid $#*! charges. They are nasty PIGS!
Went into the Sacppose Fred mayer and wanted to buy a lego starwars had no price tag was told it was $39.99 then Scaned it at slef check out and somehow its $80 what the fork? Was treated very poorly by employees asked to Speak to a manager over the phone Told her I did not appreciate the way I was treated and would not be going back she hung up on me I would excpet that from a teenager not a manger Zero Transparncy Horroblie Is customer service Seems like fred myers Used to be a good place to go when I was younger not so much now
Usually the overcharge is not honoring the sale price. It happens on a regular basis. Customer service is generally good with the adjustment, but it's a pain to go to the effort. If it's less than $5 I generally don''t bother. Today it was two items totaling $4.50. This must be happening to other people. Surprised there aren't more complaints.
Specifically asked for pre- shrunk jeans because the kid working didn't know how to calculate the shrinking in shrink to fit. Got home and i had 2 pairs of shrink to fit. The line at customer service was 12 people deep with only 1 person working it. Fred Meyers is going down hill fast, unbelievable.

Shopping here, I was excited to see this sale on 3 lbs of Hill's bacon. I used the Fred Meyer app to scan the digital coupon. It blinked when I scanned it, but no coupon appeared on screen to clip. So I took this picture to show as evidence of the $11.31 sale price. Sure enough, the sale price we got at the register was $14.31, not 11.31. I showed the photo to the young cashier, who tried to find the coupon on my phone and could not, and then directed us to Customer Service.
After my handicapped wife and I stood in the Customer Service line for 30 minutes (only 2 customers were ahead of us, thank goodness), we were told by the middle-aged female manager that "corporate" does not allow digital coupons to be applied to meat at the Customer Service counter. I asked if other people had experienced this issue with the sale as well, and the manager said none had. My wife, quite exhausted by this time, opined that was probably because no one else wanted to wait in the Customer Service line for 30 minutes like we had.
The manager refused to honor the digital coupon. My wife then asked for a complete refund, and we left the bacon there. It seems silly that Fred Meyer corporate would accept the meat back in a refund, and not honor a digital coupon for it for some reason. Mind you, the meat had not left the store at all.
Anyway, I got the feeling that neither the employee nor the manager really cared about it either way. I assume they were just doing as they were told, and they probably privately thought it was just as idiotic a situation as we did.
Now, about that wait time at the Customer Service counter. 30 minutes to get through 2 customers is ludicrously unprofessional. And there were several customers waiting behind us, too. It appears as if not enough help is being hired at this Fred Meyer. In the past, we had chosen Fred Meyer because Safeway ALWAYS has too little help working, and their lines are very long. Now with Fred Meyer too?
In case anyone at "corporate" actually reads and cares about this event (and the ill will it has caused), the time, date and location of this event was approximately 12:45pm on October 1,2023, at the Wellsian Way location in Richland, WA.
Worker was slow to acknowledge and could be seen wiping face smearingly with paper towel and not washing hands before serving. And has a strange persona.
Customers, don't buy any gift cards loosely on racks from here. My Father-In-Law purchased an Amazon Card that had already been redeemed. 5 phone calls between Fred Meyer and Amazon, and the problem wasn't resolved. Why, because a thief redeemed it right there in the store and put it back on the rack. Fred Meyer doesn't have to pay for that, the customers do. After 1.5 Hours of being on the phone the only way they claimed they would fix this is if my Father-In-Law would call because he purchased the card. That is BS. He's 74 years old, 85 lbs., doesn't own a phone, pays extra taxes he doesn't owe, so the IRS doesn't bother him. I know he won't make that call because he hates dealing with businesses on the phone as well. Living on a fixed income, he was a victim of someone else's crime but the store won't take responsibility. That's why I say, don't buy Gift Cards off the rack unless they're locked up like they do the shavers. I don't care about my gift, I care that my Father-In-Law lost $100 by purchasing a Gift card from the Federal Way, WA Fred Meyer that should've been locked in a case to ensure he's getting what he paid for. I'm so disappointed in how businesses only help if they lose money.

That's it.

They just stopped providing carts for their customers. I guess they want you to bring you own cart!? And now Kroger has launced one of those silly cards. Everything is marked up to full retail before giving you half the difference back when you swipe the card. I'm done with this store. Safeway/Haggan/Albertsons. Until they too merge with Kroger/FredMeyer as planned.
We purchased a set of zero gravity chairs which were poorly packaged and arrived broken. It took about a month to get a refund and they lied to us multiple times. They also didn't want to refund our sales tax even though we sent the item back. Here are the details:
Upon receiving the broken item, we took the set to our local Fred Meyer store. 3 staff members were doing nothing but standing at the returns desk. They immediately said they couldn't help us as the stores are separate from their website.
I then filed a request online to return the item for a refund. No response. Several days later, I called their customer service number. After a lengthy wait, the rep said they would refund us and it would take 7-10 days. That was a lie. On top of that she said they won't be refunding the sales tax! I told her that was illegal. She insisted they could not refund it.
On day 11, I called again. After a lengthy wait, the rep said she needed to ask her manager about it. She put me on hold. 20 or so minutes later, the system hung up on me. I knew they had my phone number and thought they might call me back with an answer. No.
I called again. After another lengthy wait...was told my refund would arrive the next day or at most 2 days. That was another lie. Pretty sure their customer service reps just say that to end the call, knowing that the long wait times dissuade people from calling back.
Finally, another week later I receive an email with postage paid label to return item and told I would be refunded for the purchase price, but not sales tax, when they receive the item. We send out the item the next day. I respond to the email to remind them that withholding our sales tax is illegal.
A few days later, nearly a month after we filed the first report of a problem, we were finally refunded including the sales tax.
We were never treated with respect. We were lied to twice. They tried to cheat us out of our full refund. It took too long. We hauled this heavy set downtown twice to try to resolve the issue. Their customer service phone reps are completely useless and a waste of time.
And businesses wonder why the lose customers to Amazon! I bought the next set from Amazon with no problems. I will never buy from Fred Meyer online again.

I live literally across the street from Fred Meyer. I have shop there for 6 years and ever since their remodel I have not shopped there very often. I don't get why they're Deli in the hot section does not even exist anymore. Why have the deli if you're not going to have it open. All you have is the Cold Case and lack of staff. Yet you have a cheese counter that is three times the size. Which I never see anybody at. If you are trying to keep up with your nearby competitors, you're not doing a very good job. Sorry to say but I have given up shopping at Fred Meyers. After about 6 months of putting up with your remodel, and then opening it up to half of what it was I failed to see why you even bothered. You have a wonderful staff, but you are definitely overpriced and trying to be somebody that you're not,. Will only be shopping out of desperation for small items. As far as your business model, you guys are terrible. But you do have a very kind and friendly staff. Thank you, Dennis M Dominguez
Was a great store five years ago. Just isn't anymore. Can't trust displayed prices for in-store shopping. The delivery service disregards instructions for NO substitutions. The substitutions that are anyway imposed do not remotely match ordered items that are supposedly out of stock. Call me crazy, yogurt is not a reasonable substitute for peanut butter. No confirmation for the $15 and $20 credits they offer for your NEXT PURCHASE if you call to dispute the substituted items. If you're insistent, a charge back to your credit card is available for disputed substitutions. I rarely shop at FM anymore because more often than not, it's an exasperating experience.

Attempted to buy sale item costing over $1,000 and was told local store was out but store in neighboring town had four. Drove 45 miles one way only to find out they were out too. Waste of time and gas. Employees refuse to help customers in the slightest.

Nobody needs a 27 point inspection on produce, it creates mass waste and is prob just a marketing bs ploy anyway...and no human is that precious, spend more time on customer service and value and leave the fruit inspections to farmers...
Since the remodeling of the Eugene Store on west 11th, this store has gone from good to " What Idiot planned the new Isles ". The arrangement of merchandise is a preposterous. The isles are not clearly marked as to what is in each isle. Condiments was a good labeling for the isle, now it's just labeled mustard and ketchup. Baking items are scattered over several isles without any identifiable isle markings. This is thru out the store. It's really very frustrating to search each isle for a simple item bakery item. In addition, they have put items on the very top shelf that unless your over 6' 6" tall, you'll never reach them. Additionally, the shelves for a lot of items are generally bare. I know it's now from a supply chair shortage because Safeway and Albertsons have full shelves, so does the other Fred Meyer store. The West 11th store is or should be an embarrassment to the Krogers.
The WORST customer service I have experienced! I was forced to call because the card they gave me was not working! We have so many unemployed in the US, yet somehow Fred Meyer can only employ overseas people who barely speak English. Their App is terrible also. I probably won't shop here.
Tip for consumers:
So you don't have to stop at Fred Meyer or Kroger don't do it.

Just tried to register for the card on customer service because it wasn't working on the app. The customer service rep frustrated me so much and ended up hanging up on me.
They send you a coupon for X amount of dollars off your order if you spend so much. The cashier put that coupon on the bottom of the other coupons I gave her. I had spent the required amount but she scanned the other coupons first and then said I did not spend enough and could not use the coupon. I called and they said they train them to do that. Horrible store and not enough checkers.
Got charged for a bag by cashier at the University Place, WA store even after telling her none was needed. Called the store and front end supervisor ridiculed complaint for 8cents only. Grand theft if they charge many customers!

Fred Meyer is our largest store next to Walmart! Walmart seems to be able to stock their shelves and have enough unlike Fred Meyer. It would be nice if just once they had all the items they advertise. I can't believe that in our small community they don't have enough. Ridiculous!
Got to the 30th and wielder location with 7 minutes before closing (needed to grab cold medicine for my son) and got turned away by the manager at the front door after he let some blonde chick in right before me. What a double bag. I pleaded with him and told him my situation and still got denied entrance. So make sure you get there with a blonde chick if you're gonna show up with a few minutes before closing.

Customer service( front desk@3:50pm) Kelly no no eye contact, no greeting saying she can't hear what i said coz she was eating and talking to fellow employee she responds with non committal or vaque respond employee like that should not be at the customer service she gave a lil effort no other options or steps in helping out customer, she's very rude s focus more on talking to her co employee rather than to her customers —- it happened March 17,2022 around 3:40-3:50ish pm..
I placed an online order on February 12,2021 and was charged for items I did not received even though it shows on my receipt what I did get. I have called 3 times so far and was told money would be credited back to my card within 24~48 hours. I am still waiting. This is the first and last time I will ever go to Fred Meyer. Or order on line from them
Here's a review of Fred Meyer's new fuel policy. I pulled up to Fred Meyers to buy fuel after shopping. I have been buying fuel at Fred Meyer for about 10 years, never spilled a drop. Today 05/20/23,3 pm. (Gabe was Fred's attendant, he refused to identify his last name and cutoff my $163.28 fuel purchase before I was done because I told him to lift the boat tanks himself. He refused to lift my tanks for me, he also failed to give me a receipt for my purchase after he cut it off fueling before I was done.) I was at Soldotna Alaska Fred Meyers, Gave forced me to take all my boat fuel tanks out of the boat and place them on the ground. Fill them on the ground and then hoist 40 pound each tanks back up into my boat. I dropped one tank, dislodge the cap and spilled fuel all over the ground and myself. If there had been a spark you would probably be looking at a multimillion dollar law suit for everything and everyone who would have burned up or died. Ten years of fueling boat tanks produced zero fires m, pollution and health hazards. Five minutes with Fred Meyers and Gabe's new hazardous up and down boat tank policy polluted the environment, threaten to burn me alive and gave me a back ache. If Fred believes it's "safer" or cheaper to up and down move stationary fuel tanks he is insane. Five minutes of this kind of hazardous activity threatened my life more than it has ever been threatened. I will be forced to shop and fuel at 3 Bear from now on because I will never fuel or shop at Fred Meyers again because I value my safety, my life and I do not want to pollute the environment. I am sending the EPA a copy of this letter and a clear description as to how Fred Meyer's has decided to threaten my life and pollute the environment at the same time.
Tip for consumers:
Forcing people to heavy lift boat fuel tanks will eventually cost Fred Meyer’s millions in litigation. Just ban filling boat tanks so we can just stop shopping at Fred Meyer’s and shop somewhere else.

The manager and the red hair women of Starbucks are, I think they are russian, I heard when they were talking each other, but when they hear someone with accent, they not treat the person good. Russian people are usually like that, they think are superior to other nation. They should receive clases how to treat people from other countries specially Latin people.
