Just had to plug in and allow it to boot up. After that ready to go. Unfortunately the people at Best buy including geek squad didn't steer me in the right direction in the beginning. Frontier and Verizon FiOS is very specific with a wood router you can use. These ones work. Ones from Best buy do not
I bought a router from this company. What arrived was a beat-up router (I'm not kidding, what did they do, throw it against the wall repeatedly?) with no instructions, no literature from the company, in an old box. I contacted them via email telling them I was sent the wrong product and asking for them to ship the new one I ordered. They told me, "... you knew you were buying a refurbished..." After three back and forth emails, I decided to call it a learning experience. They are the nastiest customer service I have ever experienced. They're not a respectable business and that's why I'm leaving this review. I'm out the money I sent them because they refused to send me a new modem. They operate the websites dontleaseyourmodem.com and buyyourownmodem.com. They probably have other domains they open up because of the terrible reviews. Within 30 minutes of posting this review, I got an email (they said it was from their "legal department"); clearly they're using intimidation to try to get people not to leave reviews.

Fast shipping. Opened up package powered up router and instantly connected to my Verizon site for activation. Guys save yourself some money by buying this quality router at a good price.

I bought a modem to give as a gift. I received it with multiple cosmetic defects to the point it was embarrassing to gift. Sure it may have "worked" but it looked terrible and wasn't even Verizon. I asked for a return or exchange and, because it "worked" I could return but would be charged a 20% restocking fee, pay the return shipping, AND be charged the original shipping THAT I ALREADY PAID TO HAVE IT SHIPPED (I paid for expedited and received it late by the way)! I asked to speak to a manager and was denied. They were EXTREMELY RUDE to me. I am disgusted and posting my review everywhere I can.
I bought the Arris TM1602A to replace the modem which I was paying Optimum a monthly charge for. This new modem came quickly and was a cinch to install. It works perfectly with my cable system.
Bunch of scammers that rely on restocking fee to make money. Bunch of scammers that rely on restocking fee to make money.
I absolutely love this router! I had the same thing that I leased from Verizon for 4 years until I got this one.
I installed it myself with no problem. In fact the Tech at Verizon laughed when I said I'd already done everything he was telling me to do to install it. He just had to activate it from his end, meaning he had me unplug the power su Read more about review stating Verizon Quantum Gateway G1100pply at the back of the new router and plug it right in. I already knew it worked fine because I'd tried it but I guess he had to do something there.
It was less than half the price Verizon was charging for the exact same router.
I can now get the internet outside where I couldn't before too.
I'm glad I did it!
The modem I received turned out to be a former leased model from Comcast. It didn't work. I sent it back for a refund. No response. No reply. No refund. They have probably already sold it again to another unsuspecting person.
Modem didn't work out of the box. Seller stopped responding to emails after claiming that the problem might be due to power surges. Wish that I had read the terrible reviews here and on other sites before purchasing.
I was very impressed with the price, timely delivery and performance (so far - as i have been using for about a month)
I was through giving Verizon more of my money. I decided to buy a modem instead. I was a bit apprehensive at first but I'm glad I used this site! The modem works great, it was an exceptional price, and I've gotten Verizon to stop charging me a monthly fee. Highly recommend!
Received unboxed modem that my cable tech laughed at. He said."I bet you got this online from ownyourownmodem"! It came wrapped in a USPS bag. No box. Unreal.
Obviously been bought and sold a ton of times. The back port was so loose it could be pulled out. Pure junk.
Contacted the people selling this garbage out of their trunk and they were rude, denying everything and making me pay to ship it back so they can look at it. Then they disappear and don't answer anyone. I sent it back with a signature required. Otherwise goodby money.
Paypal investigated and issued an immediate refund to me. They should ban these people.
2019came on time and was in perfect condition
Easy to install
Only thing I was surprised at was on how it was packaged, no box, just priority envelopes
Excellent customer service and tech support. Modem arrived promptly
With clear installation instructions included. Very good prices.
I purchased a MOTOROLA SURFBOARD SBG6580 DOCSIS 3 WIRELESS GATEWAY CABLE MODEM, it works great and the price can't be beat. No more renting from the cable company. Dontleaseyourmodem.com is awesome!
I bought this modem some time ago and have been fighting with Comcast ever since as they claim this modem is still theirs and are making me pay for it. It is still in their inventory.
I ordered a modem in 2016 from dontleaseyourmodem.com, it is still working great, dontleaseyourmodem.com did not rip me off, I got a great deal!
The modem I purchased was the property of Xfinity for lease only. They either stole it or bought a stolen one for resale. They have a sister company, own your own modem. Since I contacted them for a refund and filed a dispute with my credit card Bank they have already removed that site.
I received the incorrect modem... which should have operated without the router I had ordered... but it didn't. They lied and said the equipment I ordered was not approved by Comcast, when actually it was the latest equipment. They sent the equipment with no shipping enclosure, no instructions, just two roughly treated pieces of equipment that were never meant to operate together. I have no confidence that the equipment will last long term.
Their rude written response when I questioned their practices and asked for assistance was beyond acceptable. Would not recommend you do business with this shady operation.
I ordered an Arris TG 1682G modem from this seller and I thought I am ordering a new modem. But, a used modem came several days later and it wasn't working properly from the beginning of the installation. Xfinity couldn't help because it wasn't one of theirs and Arris informed me that they cannot provide the help with modems which are not supposed to be sold by third parties (This model is built exclusively for comcast). So, without any help from anybody I contacted the seller to return the item back and he was dragging the email conversation giving me different reasons without providing proper instructions to return the item. When I questioned him about selling a used item, he sent me a line in his product description which was hidden in an embedded advertisement. So, I realized that he is playing a game and decided to get my money back disputing the credit transaction. I was lucky to get my money back. DON"T BE FOOLED BY THE FAKE 5 STAR REVIEWS IN THIS GUYS WEBSITE. STAY AWAY FROM OWNyourMODEM.com.
These people won't be in business much longer if they keep up the same business practices. I ordered a TM722g and received a TG862g instead. I noted that the new 862 was an upgraded model and asked them if maybe they made a mistake. Their response was that indeed, they did ship out the wrong model, but "since it was our mistake, you can keep the upgraded model". Only problem: it didn't work with my equipment. I asked to return it for the model I ordered (and I paid the return shipping). The as-of-yet-unnamed individual who provides tech support insulted me because I asked for what I ordered. They sent me a TM722 which was clearly used. Note that nowhere on their website do they offer that the equipment they are providing is NEW... because it isn't. You know, one of those things that most people would just assume... if it doesn't say "used" or "reburbished", it's a new product, right?
Further, when I hooked up the TM722 and contacted Comcast for activation, Comcast shared that the modem couldn't be added because it was already registered with another customer. Hmmmmm... I wrote the tech back and got a scathing reply that I didn't follow the proper procedure (in the 2nd modem's box, there was only a number to call if you had problems. Given that the number was manned M-F from 9-5 CST and I was installing Friday night, I just continued working with Comcast until discovering I wasn't the first person to own this modem.
Upon contacting support again, the tech offered "no matter what we send you, you won't be happy", and then emphasized if I wanted a credit, I would need to ship the 2nd modem back (at a cost to me), as well. I did, and I stopped payment with my credit card.
I'm disappointed that I couldn't make this work, but I wasn't about to continue with these folks.
A little tidbit that I think supports my assertion that they're not on the up and up: Read through their reviews on their website. There is NOT ONE even remotely negative review. Here's why: They email you a survey that you're supposed to reply with, after answering the questions. How difficult would it be to simply throw out the surveys they don't like? And based on everything else that happened here, that would be consistent with the other things they said/did.
Stay away from these people.
Tip for consumers:
