“Great resource for White Conservative Christians”

Finally a place that lets red blooded Americans speak their mines. Many sites cater to liberals or democrats. This forum appeals to real Americans not the Obama crowd. Trump supporting Americans can freely express their politically incorrect views without having to worry about offending sensitive snowflakes. Information is accurate and honest. No filter, just straight talk and none of that mainstream liberal garbage you see on other social media places. I love it. God bless city data forum and America.

Heavily censored site to push pro-Trump agenda. Criticism of him is considered trolling and will result in posts being deleted and the account banned. Pro-Trump posters can say whatever they want and personal attacks are tolerated. RW posters dominate the site 10-1 ratio, and they will gang up on anyone who disagrees. Horribly biased mods. Don't waste your time. The Christianity form mods allow atheists and universalists push their nonsense, and Christian posters are infracted for responding.

Fairly new to the politics forum and it's a joke. I like the economic and retirement conversations, but the political forum has right wing nutjob moderators that block any other views. It is just a right wing, conspiracy theory echo chamber. Waste of time and no real political value or discussions.

I finally walked away from city data. My issue was with political & other controversy. The mods favor left leaners if not outright Trump haters. They cheer on our present bumbler.

The senior areas are rife with self important elderly. Most are spouting about the trips they've taken or will take. Constantly one upmanship regarding retirement and how much $$$$ they will get when they retire.

They usually remove political sniping in other forums, but not always. They also will not respond to explain why your post was deleted except to tag it falsely

If you like to enjoy discussion, don't waste your time there

If you express any kind of negative opinion/question about a city you will be banned. Defeats the entire purpose of a forum that used to be dedicated to discussing the pros and cons of a particular city.

The above makes the forum worthless, and not to be trusted as a resource when you are researching cities in which to move.

I agree that realtors are probably on this site as well as those writing books or other articles on the best places to live in a particular state or country.

But what happened to freedom of speech and freedom of the press? You people bashing posters for saying what they want to say have a nerve and are promoting what many Americans and others in non-socialist countries are fighting against. You don't have to agree with the content of those racist or partisan posts you mention. We should be free to say what we want whether it's offensive to some people or not! Period.

I joined in 2008 or so and loved City-data. It was a fun place to connect with people who shared my community and interests. While there was the occasional conflict, discussions were productive and well moderated, at least in my state forum. Commenters could and did argue, but we knew where the boundaries were and behaved accordingly. Fast forward to today, and many of the posters I enjoyed in earlier years have been driven off by the toxicity, and I've joined them. It's disheartening. City-Data, if you read reviews, it's time to clean house. Your moderators, with a few notable exceptions (shout out to Mikefrombackeast), are terrible and drive off your most engaging and helpful members. What remains is a cesspool. The "discussions" are not edifying or even entertaining. They're just mind-numbing.

My assessment: Find another discussion forum. This one is very bad news and unlikely to improve.

I don't know about the other sections of City Data but their religious site is absolutely awful! There are some good people there but City-Data allows racist bigot people to post hateful speech towards people that are not right wing conservative. Several comments were made that Native American Indians should pay taxes before they have the right to speak. Considering the broken treaties, the stealing of land, and death march genocide statement that was made, this individual was insensitive, demeaning, and intentionally trying to make Indians look bad to prove a point.

Here is another quote from a thread titled: Navajo Indians object NASA moon launch on religious grounds:

"Considering the living conditions I have personally seen on a number of Indian reservations, considering the level of drug and alcohol addiction on many reservations, and the condition of cemeteries I have seen on a couple of Indian reservations, I don't think they have the moral right to lecture the rest of us on the moon."

This statement is so typical of demeaning a person or race to invalidate them. According to this statement Native Americans are drug addicts, that don't have the moral right to lecture people about religion.

I just gave a two examples of the hate projected against people of different faiths, but there are so many demeaning, bullying, and disgusting comments made on their religious site and especially their Christian one as well!

Instead of having mutual respect and tolerance with people of different faiths, they attack anyone that doesn't have conservative right wing views. Amazingly enough Christians attack Christians on this site and try to invalidate each other if people are not from their denomination.

In general, City-Data religious site is too toxic, argumentative, bullying, intimidating, insensitive, and disgusting it will make you disillusioned with religion and people in general. Please don't go to this site it will make you lose faith in humanity!

Tip for consumers:
This site allows racist comments and if you try to call out racism, you will be permanently banned from this site.

A lot has been made about so-called "troll farming" attacking Americans. But troll farms are not the only way that enemies of state and fringe groups have been sowing dissension in American. Foreign nationals and fringe groups have been opening and managing so-called "American forums" or US-centric sites for years to spread propaganda and spy on the thoughts of American citizens. For example, I remember not too long ago when a white nationalist site targeting Americans was shut down, because it was really based in Romania.

A lot of "Americancentric" sites are this, just fronts to attract decent American citizens to them and spread propaganda and agitprop to gaslight and confuse. City-Data is one of these sites. Upon research, I read through the grapevine that it's really owned by Eastern Europeans. I don't know how accurate this is, but having also been banned for calling out disinformation, this certainly seems to be the case. I was banned because, as a native New Yorker, I became suspicious of the "regulars" who didn't seem to have any familiarity with NYC culture or history. After several months there, one of the outed themselves as a disinfo troll. They posted a lie that housing rates had soared because Chinese people were doing anything they could to avoid blacks. As soon as I called this comment out, a mod edited my post then gave me a "warning." When I complained, I was banned, with the reason that I was a "troll." I had been a faithful poster there, giving out historical and cultural information about NYC, with photos and everything, because I am actually a New Yorker. The troll who seemed nothing but post racist dog whistles all day was allowed to remain.

If you, as an American, have evidence that this site is really Disinfo, contact the Department of Justice with your story, as well as screenshots. Get this site investigated. Don't just post at Sitejabber; contact your representatives.

Most topics on city-data are informative and you can have productive discussion's and get helpful info. That all goes down the toilet when you enter the politics forum

If you aren't a pro MAGA boot licker you will mostly likely be suspended and banned by the pro MAGA moderator.

She has suspended and banned people for simply having a opposing view that is not pro Trump MAGA she will either say you are off topic/hijacking or a troll for no reason just because you challenge the pro Trump discussions and have alternative views. It's pretty much a echo Chamber at this point.

She plays favorites and mostly Targets Democrats/independents she doesn't agree with. And is on a huge power trip.

There is no place to complain or report bad mods even the senior mods have given up and don't care and I'm not sure the Admin is even active or cares either.

Shameful such a great forum but seems to be neglected and going downhill by a few bad apples.

Still rigged by Conservative moderaters
July 24th, 2020
• Previous review

The site continues to be rigged by conservative moderator bias. Nothing fair balanced about the political forum they will delete your post if its not pro Republican/MAGA.

The Mods post pro MAGA stuff and you're not allowed to reply to it or question the mods motives as you can see by multiple reviews on here about it.

If the Admin wants city-data to be a credible site for discussion they need to remove the pro MAGA moderators on that political forum and perhaps do periodic reviews of their unethical conduct.

Intolerlant biased moderaters

I've posted in the politics section quite a few times unless you're conservative on there they will block and ban you for any opposing opinion.

Very biased intolerant forum you see a lot of regulars who been there for years get a pass to say and attack anyone but if you retort you get banned for no reason very petty and takes away credibility from the site the mod in that forum Ibginnie very petty, intolerant and censors non Conservative posts,

As an ex-New Yorker, living in Virginia for 32 years and now looking to move to another state I have found City Data to be extremely helpful in weeding out places I would not want to live. The forums are very helpful because they put you in touch with people who actually live in those places and the pages on City Data are overwhelmingly helpful when it comes to things like population and crime statistics. Real estate agents are by law not allowed to discuss things I feel I have a right to know before I move someplace. I check City Data for every city I consider. There are other sites I check also, and the truth is when I do actually visit those cities, while house hunting, I find that the majority of what is written, whether it is good or bad turns out to be true. City Data isn't just helpful, it's a necessity.

If you're planning on moving to a different state city this site is pretty good there are of course thousands of people on the site and they will help you right and left.

There's work, psychology, personal experiences and non romantic problems stuff like that general things once you get into the politics well some people say it's right wing some people say it's left wing some people say the moderators are too heavy-handed some say they're not heavy-handed enough.

This is also really good is that you can direct mail a message to posters asking questions and probably I'd say 95% of them happily respond with good information and helpful suggestions.

The rest are mean nasty cranky and ignorant...

Shocked at the way this site is run. Shared the horrific experience of moving to Rochester MN and having our apartment filled with heavy meth fumes from an adjoining apartment. The police and city inspector, and, worse, the mayor refused to do anything, the doctors at Mayo Clinic and Olmsted refused to put it in documentation or test for it, and the apartment management at Technology Park Apartments covered up for all the drug activity they hosted rather than keeping it safe as the manager, Jacklyn Hill, says she does when talking to prospective clients. This place is so corrupt, so citydata.com banned me for saying what I experienced. That's relevant because I checked citydata.com before moving myself and my family here. The fact that they've banned other people who told the truth about Rochester means that they were on the side of the criminals that gave me what appears to doctors as lung cancer, though I have never smoked or stayed around second hand smoke. Now, for the first time, I have asthma and cataracts that I definitely did not have before this. If citydata.com had allowed honest reviews, my son and I would have been spared the cancer risks, loss of everything we owned other than our now very contaminated vehicle, and two years so far of income due to physical injuries. Both the city and the medical clinics here are tainted with corruption. Yes, there are some good people and good things about the city, but when people learn what happened to us, they don't seem at all surprised. If citydata.com masquerades as a source for valuable information about a city and what it's like to live there but censors negative truths by banning truthtellers, they are fraudulent.

Tip for consumers:
Rochester, MN, is dangerous. If you come working for Mayo, you'll probably be okay, but if you come to apply to work there, you may end up fighting for your life and afraid of the police who protect the criminals. Very, very dangerous. We even got stalked after we escaped those apartments and the manager put collections on us as though we should pay for more rent in the very dangerous apartment after she put meth users/makers/dealers below us in the leaky apartments and it filled our apartment.

Products used:
Apartment (deathtrap managed by someone who hosts drug activity, changes records fraudulently, and ignores people being harmed physically by the condition of apartments), police (refused to accept criminal complaint, used intimidation tactics to get private info to give to the criminals, lied in records), city housing inspection (refused to come even for fire hazards and heavy toxins, but said they only came for health and safety), county (helped with some resources which I appreciated but would have rather not needed them so long if they would have allowed me to use emergency housing to get away before my lungs got damaged; they said, "It's not an emergency," and asked, "Why did you move here!!!!?" I was treated like a leech when I came here to work and volunteer. What is wrong with these people?

This USED TO be a very helpful site, back in the early days, for people hoping to find helpful advice and tips for relocation and travel. Unfortunately, it was taken over by people/moderators who worship at the church of Donald J Trump, and any negative comments about their messiah, are SWIFTLY met with bans. Proceed at your own risk.

I signed up last week, and made 4 posts (all in one thread, and all on topic, which was Trump speech on Labor Day) and in one of them I called Trump a 'whiner', and was immediately banned for life. Reason = Trolling. Reading some other posters with thousands of posts, they are getting way with all kinds nastiness, but I guess that's ok because its in line with the overall bias of the board. Looks like its a place for Trump fans to go and vent out their anger.

City data forum is basically just a bunch of middle aged White rural conservatives who hate big cities and everything they represent, diversity, liberal policies, nightlife, dense neighborhoods, etc. Doesn't matter what city forum you go to, whether it's San Francisco, NYC, Chicago, the members post the same garbage, that city living sucks and paradise is in rural red states. Ok, then why the hell are they posting day in and day out on city forums they hate?

There are a lot of regional sites for US states, these can be pretty good. Automotive section is also decent. There is also a politics forum, which can be pretty rough, as you might imagine. That's okay, but the moderation, at least the moderation by Ibginnie, is terribly biased, and is unprofessional. They are obviously a rabid conservative. They let all kinds of ugly misbehavior by conservatives go unchecked, but if you set one foot over the line with a liberal or anti-Trump view, you get an angry, snarling private message from moderator Ibginnie and you get your account suspended. That's one quiet, stealthy way of making sure that Trump looks good I guess, but they don't bill themselves as a bastion and defender of MAGA, they describe themselves as just a friendly, general purpose site. Definitely NOT fair and unbiased - rabid, Trump-defending dragons dwell here as moderators.

Not a pleasant place to be at all. The Politics & Controversies sub-forum is run by a moderator who goes by a name that begins with "I" and who runs the sub-forum like a little autocratic dictator who will ban you just for saying something innocuous that they don't like, but this person has no problem letting all sorts of horrible stuff from right-wingers through with no action. I was banned for "trolling" for 6 weeks just for making an innocent remark that I thought when the SC overturned Roe v Wade it would cause rioting. Stay away from this stupid place.

Moderation is arbitrary. Censorship rears its ugly head. A post had been flagged before offering to public. Cites negative reaction would be promulgated. Unless moderator of Elections is clairvoyant impossible for him to judge. I believe he flagged because he felt a negative impact to his thoughts on the upcoming PA election.

I just got a zero point warning on there for supposedly being rude to a moderator. However, said moderator was rude to me first in her reply to my thread. It's okay if she disagrees with me, but it wasn't okay in how she worded it. I guess being a moderator, a.ka. God, lets her get away with attacking posters, but the same can't be said in reverse.
