“The only "real" Chinese dating site I've found”

John A.
6/10/16

There's loads of sites out there which claim to put you in touch with Chinese/Asian women, all of whom are apparently desperate to date Western men. From "Asian Beauties" which is pure 100% scam, to ChinaLoveCupid, which - in my experience - is pretty much legit. Yes, there are scam profiles on there, like on any dating site (Plenty of Fake Fish anyone?), but weed them out and you'll be onto a winner. The fakers are pretty easy to spot - they will either give their e-mail address, or want yours, on the very first communication. Even if they seem to pass the first hurdle, soon they'll be asking for money - drop them instantly, that's when you know you're being scammed. On the other hand, there are lots of real profiles out there. They're not all picture-perfect glamour models (ala Asian Beauties), and many of them won't reply to your advances. So just like real life in fact! As for fees - sure, they charge to let you see e-mails & communicate with the girls - but what dating site doesn't? Unlike some other sites, it's a one-off time-limited charge, and you can easily turn off auto-rebilling. Unlike the scam sites, CLP is open and up front about what they charge you, when, how much, and what you get for your money. Oh, and they have a clear termination route as well, once you've found your other half (if that's what you're looking for). As it happens, I've met my future wife on this site, so maybe I'm a bit biased... but believe me, this is one of the all-too-few honest sites.

“Account terminated”

I signed up for one day only. The next day it says suspicious activities were detected and my account is terminated. I emailed them, they asked me to uploaded my government issued ID. This doesn't sound right and not legal.

Scams abound - pathetic. The Australian government should permanently shut down any and all companies associated with these low lifes.

For all those who say CLC is full of scammers and doggy girls, guess what, the world is full of scammers and doggy folks! I have enjoyed the services of CLC for over 10 years now, before they were called China Love Links. What better opportunity to make friends over the internet land in a city and have a friend, tour guide, translator or more that is happy to take you around to meet all of her friends too. I have traveled through 50 cities in China via CLC, thank you! And have made many of friends and more. For those winers out there, stay home and complain about the world and go buy a lottery ticket. CLC is a great service, if you have any common sense or game.

I haven't even completed my profile and just browsed around the site. Then all of a sudden, girls I browsed to just started either showed interest or messaged me. I was overwhelmed with numerous messages and decided that's all I needed to realize this site like most dating sites are scams and money makers. It only takes one charge x millions of lonely men looking for love overseas = $$$BIG$$$ Revenue for this site provider. Next!

Please think twice before paying for a membership to this site.

Here's how it works:

You receive a steady stream of unsolicited messages from women with glamor model photos. You can't read the messages until you pay for membership. But if you pay, you will be disappointed to find that none of the women sending you messages are real.

Sometimes they will write you and say they are looking for a "serious relationship" but none of them is really looking for a relationship. They are all running some kind of scam. If they ask for your email, you can be sure it is going onto a spam list. Ask them to talk on QQ, and they will avoid the question, claim not have QQ or stop talking to you. If you are new, you will get a few messages from women expressing their interest who seem to have no ulterior motive but they will just mysteriously stop writing you after you've paid (hmm. Wonder what's going on there?).

It doesn't get much better if you take the initiative. Then you won't be dealing with scammers, instead you will just hit a wall. I have literally messaged hundreds of women on this site and received about five replies. After replying once or twice, nothing more. Statistics like that leave only two possibilities; either none of these women understand English (though they say they do in their profiles) or the profiles are fake.

That many of the profiles are fake is obvious, if you just read them. You will see many profiles on this site where the woman has only written one word under "overview" and "seeking" - or written something completely nonsensical. Some of the profiles also contain contradictions in information or nonsensical information. If you ask a woman who messages you about something in her profile, often she won't know what you're talking about. Makes me wonder who is filling out these profiles? Apparently not always the person who is replying under the profile's name.

At this point, I seriously doubt the women pictured in the photos are the ones replying. My guess is there is probably a team of people being paid a few cents to shoot off a message now and then--just enough to keep male members hooked and coming back for more.

In short, I've lost my confidence that this is a real dating site. A real dating site would have real women on it. This seems more like some kind of fantasyland invented by an unscrupulous business man.

I am pretty sure the only real people using this site are the men paying for memberships, so that they can read messages from women who don't exist except as stolen photos.

Watch out! Many Filipinas are on CLC as scammers. Mostly, they give their locations as some city in Guangdong province, China (Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Dongguan, Foshan, etc) but their IP addresses are in the Philippines. Commonly, they give their occupations as Other, Nanny/Childcare and Academic/Education, and ages in the 20s and 30s. They have migrated from Filipinocupid to hunt in ChinaLoveCupid.

I caught one case just now. The profile MYLENE I/D *******, now in CLC is actually a monstrously fat Filipina who was on FC about 2 years ago using her sister's name DOHVIE. I found out when I eventually spoke to the sister Dohvie on Skype (who couldn't speak much English) whereas the fat scammer could (I had been speaking to her on the phone regularly).

I was tipped off by a Filipina living in London who was the ex-girlfriend of Dohvie's (and her fat sister's) brother, a bum and wastrel. While the ex was speaking to the brother on the phone, she overheard the fat one boasting loudly about her money scams using her sister Dohvie's name on FC. The ex then got a friend to hack into Dohvie's account on FC and found recorded conversations between me and the fat scammer, from where she got my email and tipped me off (forever grateful to her!).

Now, this MYLENE on CLC was careless enough to use one of the same photos as she had used as DOHVIE 2 years ago, all the other photos being different. That's how I caught her and reported the scam to CLC. This same Mylene (same photos) is also on FilipinoCupid and JapanCupid!

You can check up on MYLENE on CLC using the above Member I/D. Thing is, I'm not sure if CLC will actually take action or close an eye. SO WATCH OUT FOR FILIPINAS ON CLC CLAIMING TO BE RESIDENT IN CHINA.

Of course, you will also find your fair share of scammers on CLC posing as Chinese women!

UPDATE 1: I'm very glad to tell readers here that CLC has removed the scammer Mylene from their site. Their swift action has done much to restore confidence in their site and service. However, Mylene still remains on FilipinoCupid and JapanCupid (I guess that's for a different service to deal with).

UPDATE 2: Mylene has also been removed from JapanCupid (within 30 minutes of my report) and FilipinoCupid (took 4 days to act).

Tip for consumers:
Watch out for message senders who have not even viewed your profile. 99% are scammers. You can also spot fakers whose stated age is below 35 or thereabouts but aver that they are looking for males over 60 (some even go for the 70s and 80s!!)

Only two helpful? Aww heck sorry about that. OK, But i bought in for a platinum membership for about 150$ for a year and i can say i enjoyed it. Heck i would gone as high as 400$ and still be happy. Whether or not i was speaking to a man in north africa or whatever, it was fun. Did not meet a chinese girl, so... but it was fun. If they were not real they did a good job of the accent translated to english and such. I can tell you this because i am married to a chinese girl who speaks english but not very good. Over all i was happy... money well spent :)

I read good reviews about the website which were obviously fake now that I've tested it. I started doing the "send me a picture of you holding a piece of paper with I'm real on it" test. None did this even though I offered to start first. The website seems to be a complete scam, I even tried to get in contact with woman that didn't look that good since I don't care too much about looks. CLC seems to have just ripped off pictures of peoples social accounts and put them in there with some bogus information. The employees and scripts/bots try to keep people trapped in there by faking interest. The good reviews about this website are all fake so I suggest you save your money or only do a one month test if you need to find out for yourself. I've paid with paypal and am now trying to get my money back with the buyer protection. I suggest you do the same if you want to test them.

I posted a profile in English a month ago, standard, not premium. Most members are standard which means not paying membership so they cannot read messages. Nevertheless, they are all sending messages obviously to other standard members that cannot read messages. One explanation is that they are all stupid. Other explanation is that the messages and profiles from which they are supposedly coming from are fake. Third; all the girls writing to me can't speak English. What are they thinking then?
Assuming the first explanation is the case at first, I wrote clearly that I cannot reply to messages because I am not a paid member, then I wrote my website below just separating the domain name from. Com with space assuming that they would have a way of detecting email or web addresses, so all you need to do is delete the space, go to my website and find my email. Can't be simpler than that. I kept getting several messages per day again through their system where I can't read them. So, they obviously didn't even read my profile before sending a message, and they are interested in marriage? Wouldn't you take a minute to read the profile of the person you are considering for a spouse? None of this makes sense. I did not get a single email even though I made it so obvious.

I would say that this site is filled with fake profiles and that the messages are fake although I don't have physical proof since I am not a detective but based on the above mentioned, it is obviously so.

It is legit. There may be scammers to watch out for but a ton of the messages i have recieved are from women in their 40s and 50s who are not all that attractive, and a fake site would only show you pretty ones. It is owned by a company whose other sites in Colombia and Mexico I have used, and I met a number of attractive women there. It helped that I spent 6 months in Colombia so it was not distant. Those are legit sites. The thing is the site is legit but be careful about the women. All their sites have lots of scammers on them, mostly from West Africa it seems. Like on Colombiancupid snd they don't speak Spanish or the way they write, their grammar gives them away. And with China don't forget there are considerations such as a dowry, and a woman might ask for $50,000 for her parents if you want to marry her. Seems a more legit number is maybe 5 grand or better yet nothing.

The name of the game on this site, is making money. The standard gold membership is $35aud for a month, just to try it out mind you, and then rebilled automatically unless you take steps to login and change it in your settings. This to me, shows a devious marketing method in itself and it comes out of Australia, lol! How about CLC, you let your members choose if they want auto renewal or not, when they decide to part with their hard earned to try you out?

I am sure there are agencies involved on the China end. Many of the so called mail texts coming from the 'free' women is the same in content. Some women who are older and have paid or otherwise memberships, do seem more genuine, but beware the young gorgeous 27yo who writes to a man twice her age for love, that could be a disaster right there and simply a move to get her a better life and flick you later at her convenience, and take a whole lot of your asset value with her.

Beware of any free profile asking you to email them directly in the 1st contact, especially if they have a hot photo, any suggestive or sexy wording, and have not completed their profile, nor have it validated, and have NOT viewed your profile. Most of the women who write you, will not view your profile, now why is that? If they were serious about you, they would want to know what you have to offer wouldn't they?

CLC also will offer you a 2 day trial at some stage if you have not paid. I guess their model is that by offering it, you will generate a couple of contacts, start chatting, then your access to mail is stopped once the trial is up and then you will then pay. You can't read any of the previous messages once the trial stops. AND, the dialogue box of the offer means nothing whether you accept the offer or not, you can close it off, thinking you don't need it, and the offer still proceeds. Once the women see you with a Platinum membership, you will get contact requests guaranteed, even if you look like a train wreck.

Translation software is used on the site, which to be honest is not accurate enough. Chinese in any dialect, is such a difficult language to know what is being said verbally, let alone by a computer.

There will be a needle in a haystack that will be genuine, but for me, I am not interested in sifting through each one that sends a contact request to find out if they are real or not. I'd think it would be a lot less trouble, to visit China and then look for someone while there.

You can waste a lot of time on the site. Not many women have English ability and you will have to be patient with that. International romance with cultural and language differences will be a challenge. The logistics of setting up together will test the resolve and resources of you both.

Also be aware of something within the Chinese culture, its the 'lose face' deal. They will dishonour truth to save face, so if you are honest, you will struggle with this and it will be a very real problem at some stage.

I know, I was used by one such Chinese woman for a better life for her and her son, discarded like trash when it suited her. Don't rush in, and use your god given gift of discernment and be prepared to suffer if things go belly up later. She committed crimes in court, was not touched and got 60% of my asset value and I had to pay costs. Good luck guys!
