“I have more respect for a burglar than these people!”

They called me in 2010 about a free sample and coupon/travel/cruise discounts. I was told I could cancel if I wasn't pleased. I DID CANCEL! MULTIPLE TIMES! I cancelled approx 2 months later when they didn't come thru on what they were offering me. I had to cancel over and over again for the last 6 years! I would cancel and it would no longer bill my account, then wham, 6 months to a year later it would hit me again! I even called them and told them in 2013 NOT to bill me again! From the email I received today it shows that what she did was RENEW it! I called in 2014, then again at the first of 2015 only for them to start billing me AGAIN in November of 2016. I had to call my bank and basically file a stolen debit card so I could be reissued entirely NEW ACCOUNT and CARD numbers! Then Bizshark sent me an email (first ever received back from them) advising me of the "membership date of 2013" and cancelled due to none payment! "But is I have any questions contact us at...". Don't know weather to freaking laugh like a crazy person or freaking cry from the lengths and hassle of stopping all the unauthorized debits on my account!

So, getting a $1.00 discount on a single lookup, gets you a 7 day free Trial... if you don't cancel within 7 days, you agree to monthly billing. RtFFP. Read the F'in Fine Print

Dear Burns,

I'm sorry for any misunderstanding and certainly wish to help resolve the issue. When you signed up you selected our Single Search with Premium Trial plan, which provided you with an initial $0.95 Single Record as well as additional free Premium access for 7 days. As long as the trial is cancelled within 7 days, the account does not continue. Because your trial was not disabled within 7 days, a recurring subscription fee began to charge. Accounts of this type automatically renew if left active to prevent any service interruption. We try to make this very clear by detailing this on our payment page, including it in the disclaimer which has to be agreed to before the purchase is processed. In addition, the information is included in the confirmation receipt sent immediately after payment, as well as in our Terms of Use. I do apologize again if this was unclear in any way.

Sincerely,
Spokeo Customer Care

After finding this mysterious charge listed on my checking account: POS DEBIT SPK*BIZSHARK *******390 CA. I called the *******390 number around 9:00 AM Central time. The call was picked up by a representative almost immediately; I told her that I had no idea why I was being billed, and wanted to cancel any future payments. The rep. Explained that a few months ago, I used a "reverse look-up" phone number service and that I had [allegedly] agreed to some type of monthly subscription. I told the rep. That I was unaware of this, and she not only cancelled future payments, but refunded all payments for the past few months. I was very happy with the outcome, but WHAT A SCAM by Bizshark and/or Spokeo! Be aware of using any online "free" service for background checks or looking up phone numbers - they're NOT free.

Dear Liz,

I understand your concern and wish to assist in resolving this issue. In order for a Spokeo subscription to be created, a user must click on the "Sign Up" button or perform a search and click on the "Get Full Results" button. The user would then be required to enter in a full 16 digit credit or debit card number along with the card's matching security code, cardholder name, card expiration date, card billing zip code, and enter a valid email address that becomes the username associated with the account. Once this information has been entered, the Terms of Use agreement must be checked and agreed to and then the "Purchase" button must be hit. Once these actions are completed and the information is verified as valid and matching, the user must then fill out a brief survey and set an account password to begin using the subscription. Additionally, we provide detailed information regarding exactly how much, and how often a person will be billed on our payment page, as well as in the disclaimer which has to be agreed to before the purchase is processed. This information is also included in the confirmation receipt sent immediately after payment, as well as in our Terms of Use. Please feel free to contact us should you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you,
Spokeo

I find its charge on my checking account and I call. The CS person said it must be a mistake and she cancelled their charge. But I kept asking how I was supposed to have signed up for this and she could not tell me. I had a free 7 day with Spokeo. I signed up and cancelled it within the 7 days. I believe that when you sign up for one you automatically sign up for both. Accident? NO, its a con!

Dear Cameron,
Thank you for taking time to provide us with this feedback! Please allow me to explain regarding Spokeo. The website is designed to keep Spokeo memberships at the lowest possible price, we enable users to purchase only the products they need. When you need additional product(s), they will be available as Product Add-ons to enable more advanced search features only when you need them. This way, users can customize their subscriptions in any way they see fit, whereas in the past, if someone wanted to upgrade you had to purchase the whole thing. Please feel free to contact a member of our Customer Care team if you have any questions or concerns with your searches! They can be reached at 888-906-0850, or CustomerCare@spokeo.com.

This company is the biggest rip off on the internet. They hide behind legitimate contracts and clandestinely charge you without authorization to do so. I would NEVER recommend a company that is obviously such a scam

YOU REALLY GET ZERO STARS FOR BEING CON ARTISTS. I WANT MY MONEY BACK IMMEDIATELY AND A COPY OF THIS PAGE FULL OF COMPLAINTS JUST LIKE MINE WHERE YOU ACCESSED MY ACOUNT AND STOLE $14.95 FROM ME IS GOING TO THE CONSUMER PROTECTION BUREAU, BBB, EVERY SINGLE PERSON ON MY FB AND TWITTER ACCOUNTS AS WELL AS ANY LOCAL PAPER THAT WILL WRITE A WARNING FOR PEOPLE TO STAY AWAY FROM YOU THIEVES, AND DON'T YOU DARE APOLOGIZE LIKE YOU'VE DONE WITH EVERYBODY ELSE. I WANT AND NEED MY MONEY. To anybody who works for you, you can find a more ethical company to work for than this place. Terms and conditions, by behind!

I am gonna give 5 Stars so that the entire world will read this and BBB will give them an award for being the best "CON ARTISTS" for 2013 1nd 2014.

This award should go to both "Spokoe and BizShark"

Thay have been charging me for last 6 *******@14.95 and when I called the Customer Service person said... there was a promotion on spokeo when I signed-up for it and that's when it got activated. Apparently - I don; t have an account with them nor have used their services but they charged.

For all the folks who are reading this - please look at your credit card statements for charges like this. There are many companies that does this and their business model is this.
