“Outstanding Value and Service”

WJ R.

My first use of AutoSlash was outstanding! They found me a nice car at half the price I could get at the corporate contracted company I normally use. I was apprehensive about renting from Fox and almost panicked when I couldn't find the reservation AutoSlash had made for me, but AutoSlash responded quickly to my evening email and resolved the problem. The rental the next day at Fox in Denver was fast and efficient with a wide choice of cars to choose from, and the return 11 days later was just as easy. I will definitely use AutoSlash and Fox again.

“Double the check the original receipt with Rental company against theAutoSlash for the extra charges”

I booked through Autoslash for 5 days. The charge on my credit card is: $696.01; I checked the original receipt from Hertz Autoslash only paid the supplier $511.66 for 7 days of service, including tax and facility fees. It is clearly stated that AutoSlash provides a free service and only charges a small commission for the booking, which is not true. 6.8% commission is taken and charged for credit card usage, which is not mentioned anywhere. They claim to have paid the supplier $627.04+ credit card usage charge of $24.58 + commission. 6.8% [not disclosed in the final receipt] It would total up to $ 696.01 [[ 5 [days]* $60.94 [daily rate] = [total] $304.7 (not including tax or miscellaneous charges) not close to the charge I got charged on my credit card. Pictures attached Autoslash used a voucher to book for 7 days instead of 5 days.

I've been very happy with all my car USA car rentals when using AutoSlash - they have certainly saved me money.
However, do not use them for Mexico car rentals. They don't include the Mexican mandatory liability insurance in their price quote and it's very deceiving -- they hide a disclaimer in very small print -- and the result is that you show up in Mexico expecting to pay a low price, and you are forced to pay 5X that amount instead. Other sites like SIXT are much more transparent and give you the correct and complete quote, so use SIXT for Mexico.

I don't normally write negative reviews. However, in this case I felt the need to do so. I used this site to rent a car on 3/9/24. My flight was scheduled to arrive at 2:00 pm. We arrived 1 hour late. My first surprise was that I called the phone number I had to listen to a recording telling me that I had to find a shuttle bus in order to get to an offsite facility. That took 45 minutes. When we arrived, there was a line of people being told that their car was not available with no help finding another one. I got up to the counter at 4:05 and was told that they did not have my reservation. The gentleman behind the counter looked at my paperwork and determined that my reservation had been canceled because I was more than 2 hours late, Keep in mind that this was a prepaid reservation. I was willing to take any car they had. Turns out they didn't have any cars available for anyone. I had to go across the street to Sixt car rental where I was able to get a car at an additional $200.

When I contacted About this I had to jump through several hoops in order to get my prepaid amount refunded. This site is just a broker and has no connection to the car renters or any ability to fix a problem

Needless to say, I will not be using this company in the future.

I booked a rental through Autoslash, paid for it and showed up at the Avis the car was booked at.

There were hidden fees that weren't mentioned by Autoslash and Avis wouldn't let me get the car unless I paid them. I was at the Avis desk when I called Autoslash and Autoslash said to just pay them, send the receipt and I would get refunded.

Did as I was told, sent the receipt and they said I would get my refund. Waited a week and heard nothing, upon following up they told me they decided to deny the refund and they would not help me further.

In the end I have to chargeback my card and file with the state attorney general. It would have been cheaper and easier to just book directly through the car rental company.

Has a hard time booking a Fox auto rental that came up in my Autoslash search. Reached out to Autoslash and within 5 minutes I had a response and my auto had been booked!

Used this service many times - this was the first problem I ever had booking (also first time trying to book with Fox).

Autoslash EXCEEDED my expectations with its quick response and solving the problem. (Problem on my end with Fox not "liking" whatever my computer security settings were - or some such the Autoslash person explained.)

Love the ease of Autoslash and how it compares numerous car rental agencies in one easy to navigate search.

Without a way to add known traveler info on prepaid reservation, it negates savings and makes for an unfortunate trade off of value and convenience. Contact us takes you to the nether world with neither.

Hi Paul, thanks for your feedback. I, too, wish that our prepaid booking vendor supported adding frequent renter information. As a frequent rental car customer myself, I highly value the ability to skip the rental counter and go directly to my car using my frequent renter loyalty program details.

That said, I'm a little confused about your feedback, because we do try our best to make it abundantly clear that our prepaid rates unfortunately don't support frequent renter programs. When you click the "Pay Now" button on our quote, we designed a pop-up screen that explicitly says, "Frequent renter membership numbers can't be added when booking, and program benefits may not apply." As well, there's no box to put a frequent renter program number in. We try to do our very best to be 100% transparent and help everyone make the best decision for their situation when renting a car. I apologize if you feel that we didn't do enough to that end.

As for the contact us "netherworld," I'm quite stymied about that because it appears you had quite an extensive conversation with our support representative Michael, who responded to your inquiry within 10 minutes, and then you responded back to him 11 minutes later (along with some further responses from both parties, so quite obviously we did receive and respond to your inquiry (and you responded back to us). If you need any further assistance with your question, though, please don't hesitate to reply again and we'll be glad to help you with anything you need. Safe travels!

I've used them twice and had no issues with my rentals either time. They saved me $100 for my last six day rental. You need to pay in advance (that's how they can discount so steeply) but it's totally refundable until 48 hours prior to your dates. One time I had to cancel and they quickly refunded, no questions asked.

I reserved a car the same day I had to pick it up because I needed a rental I prepaid for it and then quickly
I canceled it and because I didn't cancel within the 48 hours cancellation policy they're saying I cannot get my money back I told them I reserved the car for the same day I was going going to pick it up so I had no chance to cancel before the 48th hour policy not once did the website warn me that this money was not refundable not once did it tell me that if I cancel I will forfeit my money and now they're saying that I cannot get my $402.42 they told me that they don't accept debit cards that you would need a credit card yet I use my debit card and they charge me knowing that I can not use my debit card so I was never going to get the car in the first place because I used a debit card basically once they charge my money on my debit card I lost all that money because I was never going to get a car because I use the debit card in the first place. And plus it doesn't help when employee I talk to threw email was no help and rude! Basically telling me that's what I get. Oh well that's not his problem, be careful when going threw them. YOU HAVE BEEN WARN!

Chris L. – AutoSlash Rep

HI Jesus, I'm terribly sorry you had a negative experience. We make every effort to make it abundantly clear when you book that reservations are nonrefundable within 48 hours of the scheduled pick-up time and that reservations must be canceled at least 48 hours prior to the pick-up time to be refunded. As we mentioned via email, this is shown in at least five separate places during the booking process; in addition, there's a checkbox that we require our users to check indicating they are aware of the booking and refund policies. This isn't an arbitrary decision we made but rather a policy of the suppliers we source our highly-discounted prepaid rates from, and we regretfully do not have any ability to overrule them and force them to approve an exception to their policies.

The travel industry (and especially the rental car industry) is known to have a lot of gotchas, and so we work very hard to be 100% transparent on our site and in all of our communications about cancellation policies as well as other rules/requirements/restrictions (such as debit card policies set by the rental car agencies) so our customers have every opportunity to be aware of these policies and potential issues.

I've used AutoSlash every year since i first learned about it. Each time was effortless, and over the years AutoSlash has saved me hundred$ of dollar$.
Mind you, each rental was domestic: i will try Autoslash in Europe when quarantine restrictions allow Americans back. And i'm a very basic and undemanding traveler who's learned that a teeny bit of flexibility is rewarded with outstanding customer service.
Several years ago I had a bad accident with an AutoSlash car, and the AutoSlash person i reported to was extremely helpful. Since then i've always opted to get car rental insurance (Allianz is my favorite provider). Since i save so much $$ with AutoSlash i'm happy to pay a little more for insurance.
I've tried to convince friends to use AutoSlash, but they're boomer little old ladies who can't wrap their heads around the e-mail business model. As a boomer little old lady myself i find AutoSlash's methods to work just fine.
If you can love a company i love AutoSlash, and i don't know why more people don't know about it. AutoSlash still seems to be a best-kept secret of sorts.

I priced my car rental at 579.00 (Thrifty) after shopping and shopping. Pick up in L. A., dropping off in Phoenix 8 days later. I stumbled upon Auto Slash and inputted my information and every few days I would get an email saying they found a cheaper rate. The Autoslash rates when all the way down to 174.00 (Hertz) and I pulled the trigger. I prepaid, and called Hertz to confirm everything was legit. It was. I just got home from vacation and very happy I saved 400.00. I am really still shocked. Thanks Auto Slash!

My car rental experience lasted over six months, and I ended up with a great deal from AutoSlash. I used the cancel and rebook feature offered by them and the rates for 16 days on Maui went from $680 (cheapest rate I could find) initially to a final rate of $425 from Hertz - this is almost $250 less than the next lowest price I could find.
Every rebooking/cancellation activity was perfect with a fast refund on my cancellations. AutoSlash responded to my email questions quickly, which gave me a sense of confidence in them.
I picked up the car yesterday, and it went perfect.

I recently booked a rental car with thrifty thru autoslash. I did prepay and whe nIgot to the rental counter, at the correct time, I was told they didn't have and vehicles and it would be a wait and at leas 45 minutes or longer and could not guarantee. I contacted autoslash as per directed by thrufty and was told via email that I had to provide any documentation from Thrifty on their letterhead. At the rental counter they barely had staff working and iwaited on line for almost an hour to even get to an agent at the counter. I was told pretty much too bad by autoslash. I understand the cancellation policy but ths was no fault of my own as the customer and autoslash and thrifty should take that into consideration. I do not reccommend thrifty/or autoslash

Rented a car in France through Autoslash -- paid a deposit to Autoslash with balance due at rental agency. When I arrived agency had no record of deposit, after prolonged call to Hertz I paid the full amount. Contacted Autoslash and for 6 weeks was promised a refund by Chris for their mistake. It never came and he eventually didn't write me back. I had to dispute with my credit card for a refund. AVOID.

Thumbnail of user chrisl96
Chris L. – AutoSlash Rep

Hi Aaron, I do feel terrible about the problem you had with the prepaid rate in France and the trouble we had getting our booking vendor to process the refund. As you know, we don't sell any rates ourselves directly but rather contract with third-party vendors who have relationships with the rental car companies to offer their rates to our customers. I agree that the way they handled your refund was unacceptable and took far too long, even though we were constantly pressuring them to issue the refund, and we'll be speaking to their management team about the way this was handled. I did get a note from our booking vendor that the refund was processed on 10/9, so perhaps the refund and your credit card dispute crossed paths. In any case, I'm glad that all is settled now and the funds have been returned to you.

I looked at my email history with you and am confused at your assertion that I didn't write you back, since your last message to me was on October 2 and I replied to you about 6 hours later. If you sent a message after that point that I didn't respond to, I apologize--please feel free to send it again, as it didn't come through on my end.

Even though our prepaid rates come through third-party vendors, we always stand behind the product and work tirelessly to make sure things are made right. I feel bad that it took much longer than it should have in your case, but please know we do not rest until each and every one of our customers are made whole. As well, you still have the option to see significant savings on your rental by using our system to find discounts on *non*-prepaid rates that you can then book through major trusted online travel agencies. I know this incident left you unhappy, but I would hate to see you overpay for your car rentals by booking undiscounted rates, even if you don't feel comfortable taking advantage of our prepaid rates. As always, please reach out if you have any questions.

Autoslash rocks. Saved $170 for a week in Florida.

I saw this on US News & World Report and wanted to try it. As a test, I booked through my typical brand name car rental company for my Florida trip... 1 Week@ $466 (includes AAA discount).

Then I tried Autoslash. Their price (different rental company) was $380.
I reserved it.

I also "requested a quote". About 10 minutes later they emailed with a major rental company for $290 for the week. I re-booked it! AND, if the price drops, I will save more!

Super easy, big savings.

My previous post drew a response from AS and we communicated very clearly about the error. They were aware of the underlying problem and were already working on a fix with the rental agency. When we arrived at our destination, the car was ready and there was no problem with the car rental company. (Note: Hawaii implemented a marginal increase in the daily rental surcharge tax, from $3/day to $5/day, which confused some pricing offers made by car rental companies, resulting in lots of customer confusion around the increase.).
AutoSlash did yeomans work behind the scenes to rectify an error that was not their doing. They were great to work with and we will use them again in the future.

Rental Tax Surcharges.

Just opened up our car rental agreement from AutoSlash, as we are traveling next week. Went to the Alamo site (where the reservation was booked by AutoSlash, or Priceline), and when I reviewed the reservation at the Alamo site, it noted that everything was included, EXCEPT a $315.00 Rent Tax Surcharge. Notified AutoSlash that I would not pay, as our prepaid agreement with AS clearly states that taxes and fees are covered. Anyone else having this issue with Alamo or AutoSlash? AutoSlash responded with a form email saying they are looking into it, but so far no resolution.

I've been trying to book a car through Autoslash pretty much all morning and I have nothing to show for it but hours of wasted time! I submitted my request for a quote and within 10 minutes or less they got back to me with a fantastic quote, so no complaints there. I then clicked through the link, which took me to Priceline. Once a clicked through the Priceline button, every single time it comes up error. They do of course have a working link to a more expensive rental for my requested city, date & time. Then I come to find out that Autoslash is actually owned by Priceline. This is classic bait and switch, PERIOD!

Hi Jefferey, sorry to hear about the hassle! Certainly no bait and switch intended (and we are very much independent and NOT owned by Priceline!). It looks like there might be a glitch in Priceline's system. We already replied to the email you sent our support team an hour ago to help you get the rate we helped you find booked. I asked a friend about where I could save some money for a car Rental. I was sent here to AutoSlash. I'm a member of Costco too; I've done my comparing between the two. I've found that - there are no real savings with AutoSlash. Costco is much easier and quicker than AutoSlash. Yes, this is better than many other places, but Costco is just smoother and you can get better prices too. Thanks for reading.

Thumbnail of user chrisl96
Chris L. – AutoSlash Rep

Hi Marcus, thanks for the feedback! Note that we actually do search all of the Costco discount codes, so we're able to find exactly the same rates that CostoTavel.com finds. And while Costco indeed offers one of the best discounts, a good 50% of the time, there are even better discounts available. We're happy to help you save money and make sure you have the lowest possible rate. If you're finding lower rates at CostcoTravel.com than we're finding, there may be a discrepancy somewhere, and we'd love to take a look at it so we can ensure you have the best rate. Please reach out to our team at support@autoslash.com. Or, if you've found a better price yourself on any other site, just drop it into http://www.autoslash.com/track -- our free price tracking service will monitor your reservation and alert you when an even lower rate comes along, and there's no charge for doing that! If we can help with anything at all, please don't hesitate to let us know!

I've used Priceline directly in the past and had terrible experiences. I tried AutoSlash now and the booking went through Priceline. Only the links in the email from AutoSlash resulted in an error on the Priceline page that opened. It said "We were unable to complete your last request. Try your search again."

So I tried the 'Browse All Vehicles/Locations" link and it said 'We're sorry, the car you chose is no longer available due to changes in pricing or demand. But we've found these other great deals for you.' Those great deals were over $200 more.

I wrote AutoSlash on their website contact form and when I clicked submit it froze and didn't accept my message.

Thumbnail of user chrisl96
Chris L. – AutoSlash Rep

Hi Jason, sincere apologies for the hassle and for our contact form freezing.

I'm having trouble finding your inquiry from the information here (we've had over 100 different inquiries from Jasons in the past 48 hours, so finding yours is a little tough!), but if you can reply to the email quote we sent you or send a message to support@autoslash.com, we can definitely look at your request and see if we can help you book the rate we found for you. Sometimes the rental car companies' systems don't work like they should (trust me, I used to work in IT for one of the rental car companies!), but our support team made up of experienced travel hackers and former rental car employees is usually able to push the right buttons and get things working.

We look forward to hearing back from you and helping you get the best possible rate booked!

Forget this company. I booked a car through them which then went through Priceline to Hertz. The total with tax and fees was $475.63. I then sent up with their price watch system, and I received an email that I could get a better deal on my car for $690. WTF? I emailed them, and they told that was a great deal because the car I rented was really $979! I called Hertz and they confirmed that the rental price for the car was $979.82, using the same confirmation number. I told them I had a copy of the confirmation for $475, and essentially they said, not our problem, call Priceline. I called Priceline who tried to give me a bs story about higher taxes at the time I was booking, and essentially said, sorry.
