Worthy

I had this ring reviewed by one of my moms friends who is actually a diamond dealer. He buys and sells diamonds way closer to the actual cost hat a jeweler or company who's it gonna charge you about triple the price of whatever something is worth. Most people don't know this until they have already had this type of situation happen. They spend a small fortune on a diamond that actually has no true value if ever needed to be resold. So if anyone is reading this. Find a direct diamond broker! They will sell you a diamond way closer to the price of the actual value of the diamond And you'll probably get a way bigger better clarity more awesome diamond from them than you ever will from any store and definitely more than any company like worthy. My mother's friend who's business is just that told me that even though yes the ring from the store cost around $14,000 that it should get around $2,500-! 3,500. I remember when I first heard those numbers that I felt they were so little comparatively to the original price tag. Jaw dropped! So why I understood his expertise I decided to send my ring into Whorthy to see what that market could hold and they suggested...$850 after their analysis which is absolutely ridiculous! That's before they're 20% fee cut btw. Save yourself the time and money and see if you can find an independent diamond broker for someone else because were they at this point doesn't give you much more than a pawnshop!

I can see others have liked this service and maybe it's because they're just surprised they got anything for their jewelry. But this is a similar service to "I have to sell my used car quick for cash" or going to your local Pawn broker... well, it may be a step above that I guess. But don't think for a minute just because they have hundreds of buyers as they'll tell you, that that means you're going to get top dollar. You won't. You won't likely even get what your diamond/jewelry is worth for scrap. Oh they'll rush to get your item, and then give you an "appraisal" (mine was ridiculously low=I know the scrap value of the diamonds... they did not even meet that) and then let the auction run and hey maybe you have an amazing one of a kind piece that will sell high... but even then I'd bet you'd do better on Ebay with good pictures and a great sales/writeup. (as I have) Also don't expect a quick return if you want it back after their auction. Diamond Buyers International is a much better/similar service. No slick sales team experience like I had with Worthy. Or well, some of the team I spoke with were more informed than others but none gave the explanation of what their service actually is in the way that I learned online and from the Rep I dealt with at Diamond Buyers International. I sent them my great grandmother's supposed diamond wedding ring. I knew nothing about the ring. It looked to be at least a carat supposed diamond. A friend who has bought diamond rings in the past said if it is REAL, it could be worth $4,000-$5,000. So I gave them a shot.
I quickly got a response that they were sorry, the ring would not be in demand at their auction, so they were returning it.
That is fine. But I had no reason why, and I asked if they can at least tell me if the ring was too old or even REAL. You never know. Great-gramps could have gotten her a cubic zirconia. I would have least liked to have known why it was not even auction-worthy. So I would have to give the process 2-stars for being 'incomplete' in my estimate.
** UPDATE **
Shortly after posting this review, a representative from Worthy contacted me and did confirm that the diamond I sent in was NOT authentic. They apologized I was not told immediately. Thus everything on their end was done appropriately and professionally.

I had never attempted to sell jewelry before. Over the years, I had lost my Diamond Certificate on my 30 year old ring. I didn't trust local people (without a recommendation from someone I trusted) so I looked online and found Worthy. I read about their Company, how they handled the selling process, and reviews from happy Customers...Worthy seemed very fair in their approach by all that spoke of them. Fair was what I was looking for. They made it very easy for me from sending a Fedx Driver to my door to pick my ring up (the whole process was insured by Worthy), keeping me in the loop on every step from the pickup, arrival, cleaning, certifying, and then gave me the final approval on my auction price (which I made my own choice that was close to their appraisal). I got the price I wanted at the end of the 72 hour auction credited to my checking account in just 2 days and my 18% fee was quite fair for Worthy doing everything for me! The Staff was kind and helpful through the whole excellent process. I would recommend to anyone with Jewelry they are considering to sell...you would feel comfortable and fairly treated with Worthy. This company is beyond incompetent. I sent four rings to be auctioned. Worthy listing them all together and wanted to sell all four as a package for $3500 minus their commission. When I was called, I asked if that was for just the Engagement ring or all 4. They said they were listed all together. I immediately told them no and to send back my rings. Weeks went by with me calling for updates to see when my rings would be returned. Finally got ahold of a human that was honest. They let me know my Engagement was accidentally sold already and that they lost my wedding band. Fast forward, weeks of back & forth. Worthy wants me to claim on my insurance. Insurance says that is not possible. Replacement cost of my insured engagement ring was $11,500 & $1,600 for my Wedding Band. Worthy has offered me $2,870 for my engagement ring they sold without my permission & $800 for my wedding band they lost. My replacement costs that have been insured for years equal $13,100, They want to give me $3670. 00. This story has only begun as I have reached out to insurance & attorneys. Lindsay at Worthy was asked to have a manager contact me on 11/17/20, as I am done with her attitude and disrespect for my valuables. It has been crickets!
