I do not question the negative experiences that many other consumers have reported, but my own recent experience was very different from theirs. I ordered very hard to find Boulder Canyon potato chips with only sea salt added and I received them promptly. The bags were intact and the chips were fresh (with a "Best if used by date" more than three months from the date I received the package. World Market provided a valid tracking number so that I could track the shipment. All in all, I found the company to be reliable and trustworthy.
Englewood CO: We were ready to buy a table, a sofa and carpet but wanted to sign up for the card for %20 off.The cashier told us that only the manager knew how to do this process. The manager insisted on checking people out and left this poor cashier to sign us up...who didn't know how to do it. We waited 20 minutes for help.The manager ignored us and then disappeared. She finally showed up to say she couldn't help us...we looked at her and then walked out. Will never shop there again
You know my ambivalence in regard to corporate chains.
Nevertheless I do like World Market.
I have picked up some cool-vintage type pieces for a redo project: Grass rugs, zinc frames, cool sculpted towels as well as some interesting food items such as walnut oil and interesting yet inexpensive wines.
It's a fun place in which to browse plus they always have fresh and featured coffees for the customer to enjoy while meandering.
Plastic bags are horrible, but theirs are fun.
Four stars.
ETA: Aww heck -- as I write this, I note that WM has merged or been absorbed by a conglomerate. I just hope that it retains its original funky, vintage, ethnic charm. ~ MS
Okay I love this place and the most of the products... I always get my delivery on time as they say and I never had a problem with returning, refunds, exchanges... the one thing that is bad is whoever they have packaging the deliveries... all my packages had no bubble wrap and everything was thrown together... in every box I ever ordered I had something broken.
That's a loss when you have someone who does care about doing their job right! But I never had any issues with customer service on the phone. I've gone into the store but had better luck ordering online in finding the products I want. In the photo below is a flimsy box which was heavy bcuz they put everything in there without any bubble wrap to secure from shifting. So I ended up with scratched up pan and a broken marble lazy Susan.
World Market is awesome. I love the eclectic selection. Bought a wonderful quilt that was my favorite for years! Just purchased some beautiful lamp shades, picture frames, baskets, and of course some yummy food items. Sticky fingers scones are THE best.
Great store only one critisism and that is the sales ladies are not allowed to drink water if they are behind the counter!
What's that all about?
Ordered a food item on line, but before ordering I had a few questions. Ended up calling customer service 3 times regarding the order, and the people I spoke to didn't seem to have much knowledge.
My first question was to find out how many bottles to a case. They didn't know.
Second question was regarding the billing address. Since I was not able to use my own Canadian address and I could not leave it blank, what do I do.(The shipment was going to a shipping company in the US.) The girl did not have a clue. I ended up using the shipping co address. I had to make a third call when I noticed that the Zip code on the confirmation was wrong. Was told that they had the right Zip code in their system, but it was wrong anyway.
Now to the good part. A few days after promised delivery date, a lady from World Market called in random to see if I was happy with my order. When I told that we hadn't received it yet she put me on hold and contacted FedEx and sorted out the problem right away (It was a zip code problem). Two days later the shipment arrived, and we were very impressed how well every bottle had been individually wrapped.
Overall first line of customer service, nice but nor very knowledgeable. When you got to speak to someone higher up we have nothing but praise.
