  • They have no real customer service, people to call.

First of all, I've been using Wix for about two weeks to re-design this, my current website: https://www.flightdeck1.com/ I should have the new one created with Wix live by March 8 or so. I started my business Flightdeck+Rogue Racing about 18 years ago. My company is the only attraction like it in the world, still. Our customers are tourists, local residents and businesses booking corporate private events. Since we opened I've created/designed our website and had an outside company do it 2 times. Our current website which was designed by a creative agency is OK, but it is very very difficult to make any edits and changes. So I finally got fed up and went back on the web to see what's out there for the DIY websites. I tried six different website builders in the last two months and settled on Wix which I used 7 years ago and it was meh. But the Wix today is volumes better than from back then. At least twice a day I'm blown away by what I'm able to do in creating a website and by the way, I'm no graphic designer. My plan is to create this and then find somebody on upwork or fiverr to go in to improve/polish it. I read a few of the 1 and 2 star reviews and I swear most of must be competitors, hiring people to write low reviews or they're just plain bots, In my humble opinion. (still a work in progess re: photos)

Now you can't get Wix support for free at all, even through chat. I pay hundreds of dollars fo premium plans and now they want $55 for the occasional support I need. I am thoroughly disgusted with their overall business model and I rue the day a "Consultant" convinced me to go with them. Another six months until my plan expires and i am gone. They will however be happy to keep the unused remainder of my other service payments. Don't ever pay for yearly, you can never change to monthly.

Wix for the most part is great for someone trying to sell the pot holders they make or for someone with a niche market but other than that I'd either build a DNN site yourself (much more up to date modules) or just use ecrater.com.
My biggest complaint would be is that they nickel and dime you to death and place ads on pages that you will be working on most of the time causing slow load and delays in your work. They don't just put ads on the dash board they place them on pages like orders or other important pages so do not be in a hurry.
My other complaint is they are trying to reinvent the wheel. Their modules are so old fashioned or were developed by someone else so long ago there is no reason theirs don't work properly,...stuff like you would have seen when IBUYSPY was put out there by Microsoft they can't get right or don't even offer. Simple stuff like the abbreviation for states being populated, just seems like a bunch of not so bright people work there in my opinion.
It is better than nothing and if you don't have the skills or time it's a good temporary solution or if you could go to ecrater.com they've been around since IBUYSPY...

Overall we are satisfied with the platform and could give a 5 star if they wouldn't keep the money for 7-10 days it's the biggest issue for us.

Initially, I was a huge fan of Wix. I've had my site since 2015. The website design tool is highly customizable, which is extremely important. But in the last few months, they have made major changes in the messaging system with this "Ascend" garbage they have built into the site to use for your contact forms. It used to be that the initial contact from someone would go through the site, via your form, but now, the entire conversation, each email is getting routed through the site, and it only shows the most recent email - no string, which is F-ing annoying. They seem to think there is nothing wrong with that. WTAF? Recently a client sent me a project list, embedded into a link that was no longer a link after being routed through their site. And I have sent multiple email responses to clients that have never made it. It's like they are trying to put me out of business. Additionally, they used to have great customer service, but now they make it almost impossible to communicate with them to try to get help. Guess it's time to find a new option...

Wix owes me $138 for duplicate payment. I have been chasing them for 5 months. Still waiting. Was able to verify duplicate payment. Instead Wix Support said that Wix will lock me out of my account. He was right.
Support hangs up, never returns calls, and is inept.
Wix Contributors are con artists. Reported to Wix. They did nothing

Tip for consumers:
Wix is performing fraudulent business policies against customers

It's not that free after all. You should at least say the minimum your users could pay for your services. About a year ago I used it for my website but it was so much, that I just left it half way. I recently saw a commercial about how "easy" it was for someone to create your own website, but that at all :(

With premium plan must give at least one business mail like all others, makes no sense to have to buy the separate business mail, also when you decide to leave you have to remake the whole website...

I haven't had a need to use customer service at all, so I can't speak to that aspect. What I can say is that I was able to put together a portfolio site with a gallery and an shop for printed items with my art on it quite quickly, as someone with experience with other WYSIWYGs. I do think people should know from the get go though, that a free site really just allows you to get things together- the "get your free site with Wix" banner over you site will otherwise scream at your public, pretty much killing your credibility if you're a freelancer or small business. I wish it were a bit more subtle... but that's how they make the moola! Still, I like the toolset... don't want to program the old fashioned way anymore!

WIX took $168 from my credit card without my knowledge. When I called the ph no shown in the billing statement, I was direct to a customer website that doesn't exist. They need to be reported to BBB for their fraudulent dealings

I initially was cool with my wix site but that was before I became a bit more educated on its limitations and my main and number 1 complaint is that you CANNOT get in touch with a live person for specific website related issues that you can't find an answer to in the FAQ's. It makes me wonder why they seem to try their hardest to avoid human contact. I really need some support regarding the mobile version of my website and I see absolutely no where to reach a person by phone, email, chat or other. Such a disappointment. So much so that I am now looking into another platform that offer support. I switched from a Vistaprint platform, of which I was able to speak with a live person to assist with questions or difficulties I had to Wix with NO SUPPORT. I dislike having to write these kind of reviews but I feel like something needs to be said for the sake of improvement.

VERY DECEPTIVE... Don't give them access to your credit card, hidden recurring fees will be taken from you. Horrible customer service as well.

EDITED: Due to the professional response posted by Wix after my initial review. Raised my review to 3 stars from 2.

Use WordPress instead. More responsive and aesthetically pleasing. Wix seems cheaper at first but the deeper you dig, you realize it will end up being more expensive with hidden costs for plugins. Even then it's not anywhere near as responsive- Wix doesn't look good on tablets... pretty much ever...

I have been using WIX for a few years and upgraded to Premium about 2 years ago. Happily plodding along doing the occasional update. HATE the new editor. Look at their service tickets for the last few months, mostly complaining about the new editor.
It is clumsy.
It is is slow.
It is non intuitive.
It is PAINFUL.
They will let you revert to the old style for a limited time. Here's a better idea, ROLL BACK, ditch the CRAP you have now.
Cheers
Steve

I have hosted several sites on WIX for several years without problem and have had no need to contact help. However, a new website requires connecting to an existing domain which has failed to happen. No one to contact.
Very disappointed. Otherwise, the site builder is pretty well developed.

The platform is good and convenient, and would be a great find for some smal business e-shop, for example. But its incompatible with the larger and most popular ones, so you can rely only on this one.

I'VE STARTED USING WEX OVER A YEAR AGO AND IN THE BEGINNING FELT BLESSED BY HOW EASY AND INTUITIVE THE EDITOR WAS. I COULD CHANGE THE LAYOUT OF MY PAGE IN A FEW CLICKS. NOW. WHEN I FINALLY READY TO SET UP MY STORE... I AM SIMPLY UNABLE TO MODIFY THE EASIEST OF THINGS... WHICHEVER ELEMENT I TOUCH OR MODIFY IT AUTOMATICALLY SHOWS ON EACH PAGE. WHY THE HELL THEY ASSUME THAT EACH ELEMENT MUST APPEAR ON EVERY PAGE. SO HAVE TO UNCLICK EACH TIME. OTHERWISE ALL THINGS OVERLAP. TOO MANY UNNECESSARY OPTIONS, TOOLS NOT INTUITIVE. OVERALL COMPLETELY DISSATISFIED AND NOW DOUBTING WHETHER SHOULD RISK AND START MY ONLINE STORE WITH WIX. AND WHAT IS MOST DISAPPOINTING IS THAT WIX TEAM, DESPITE OF SO MANY COMPLAINTS HAVE NOT DONE ANY IMPROVEMENT IN AT LEAST HALF A YEAR. EVEN THE MOST OBVIOUS ERRORS ARE NOT BEING FIXED..

We had an account with wix for 1 year and renewed. Next thing they suspended the shoutout service saying our company violated the terms of use without any proof. They refused to returm our funds. They want to keep the money without providing the service

I have been using wix for a couple of years by now.
They have been improving their options.
Price wise... well... there are better prices around. They should consider competition.
But overall, I'd say a good catch and choice.

I've been with, paid member even, for four years now. And I've really hated every year of it. The reason why I hate it, their customer service SUCKS, especially for paid members. They think their HELP boards can solve everything, when they solve nothing, and they are, overall, rude. This will be the last year that I use them (it is on auto renew and I missed the cutoff). They don't have the option of having a NON-FLASH site for iDevil users to default to since iDevil users can't see flash programs/pages (wix.com is FLASH). Also, their mobile site, which come free with membership, yeah, they don't work. Tried for tech support assistance, they were VERY rude and belittling. I programmed for years, did web design for years, was raised doing flash even, and it wasn't something that even I could resolve, and obviously they couldn't either.

Overall, for the bandwidth and storage space, and the idiot proof templates for those that don't code, the $135 and change a year isn't a bad price. BUT for the lack of customer service, and with a coding background, I could get godaddy for $45 a year and have iDevil applications be able to see my site.
