  • I have painfully learned why WS has such poor ratings for customer service and product delivery dates.
  • My delivery date was unceremoniously delayed to September 13,2021.

I just wanted to say THANK YOU for the free swatches I received! They are so pretty and thank you for the response telling me that u will send the rest later on... thank you for that! I can't wait to get them all to decide which one I want! Thank you again and keep up the good work! This is Jennifer Bowen

“Horrific customer service”

My wife ordered some WS products on their web site on 12/7/23. She used 2 different gift cards to pay for her purchase, which apparently confuses the system and every single Williams-Sonoma customer service person. It is now 1/20/24 and our order has never shipped and although 6-8 service reps have promised to resolve the problem, no-one has actually done it. There is no follow up, no courtesy, just BS promises to get us off the phone. We will never deal with this company again. Terribly frustrating!

I purchased a floor mat at WS on line and a few hours later cancelled the order and was told I could not cancel // but I never received the item or anything anyway -/ had to call them five times and by law you have 24 hours to change your mind even if this weren't a truly abusive retail attitude — what an awful place! You can't cancel hours later $152.00
Really? And they dispute my dispute with my bank? Just awful awful will never shop there — so I have to eat it?

A collection piece platter I ordered arrived in a huge shipping box, set at the bottom, with inflated pillows on top. The platter was shattered within it's poorly gift wrapped box. The platter had no protective padding within it's own box. The special "gift message" was printed on the receipt...
Customer Service was pleasant and refunded my money immediately, but were unable to ensure a replacement would be packed any better. Done with William Sonoma - not worth the money. Not the company I used to purchase from.

Verified purchase

For $103 I received a Buche de Noel that appeared to have been handled by a gorilla. The dry ice had completed sublimated. The much smaller cake box sat inside a much-too-large styrofoam container, which allowed it to literally bounce all over. The cake itself had completely defrosted, it was partially uncovered, and damaged. I'd planned to share it with neighbors on Christmas Day. Not happening. The only reason I decided on two stars instead of one is that WS's customer service was excellent and refunded my money immediately. The one star is for the worst shipping packaging I've ever see and that I can't bring what I promised to a Christmas party.

Tip for consumers:
There's so issue with the site. It's lovely. My issue is with the poor shipping practices with the most recent item I purchased.

WS's Reward Program is administered by Comenity Bank, the bank that administers WS credit card. There are too many levels of interface between the company and its Reward Program... not transparent at all. I contacted WS about an issue with my Rewards Certificate. Belatedly WS answered that I had to go through Comenity. After several try's and much hod time (over one half hour), I was finally told they could not help me as my issue had expired. The Rewards Program is designed to not be customer friendly... a very poor benefit.
WS has gone from a trusted and valued provider to a purveyor of cheap junk from China... lipstick on a pig at a high price. Let the buyer beware.

Was looking for a kitchen apron as a Christmas gift. The one I found on the Williams-Sonoma site was nice and pretty, which was what I was looking for, although expensive. I ordered it only because they promised it would be delivered before Christmas. Two days before Christmas, it hadn't arrived so I checked the order status. Backordered! New estimated delivery date was in February. No email, no notification of a late delivery. I tried to find a way to cancel the order on line; there was no way to do an online cancelation. Eventually, after much searching, I found the customer service number and called. The only reason I gave two stars instead of one was because the customer service rep was very friendly and the cancelation was quick and painless. But regardless, will not be ordering anything from William Sonoma in the future. This close to Christmas, it's unlikely that I'll find the sort of apron I ordered.

Tip for consumers:
Do not rely on an accurate shipping date!

And Couldn't Make it Right! Ordered a $100 gift card and a very small token/joke gift—a $6.97 egg poacher—through the W-S Bridal Registry. Long story short, they didn't include the note that indicated the gifts were from another friend AND myself—guess that's a tough thing to accomplish these days. What ensued were a few awkward texts between the bride & myself and me having to explain how I wasn't as "generous" as she'd thought. I called W-S asking if they could email the bride a promo discount code or a 20% coupon or something, Customer service agent said they had no way of doing such a thing. Is it so hard to get an order right? I guess so. Is it so hard to make a couple of customers feel as though W-S cares about making a mistake? I guess so. Disappointed.

I have ordered twice from WS. The first shipment of cocktail glasses arrived promptly. The 2nd order processed on 4/19/21 (a set of cocktail glasses for a May anniversary gift) was paid and my delivery date was originally scheduled for May 3. Cool! NOT! My delivery date was unceremoniously delayed to September 13,2021. SEPTEMBER 2021! WTH! I called customer service to cancel my order and have a refund issued. The rep was nice, but told me she couldn't cancel my order until it shipped! WHAT?! Are you kidding me?! I was not expecting a 5-6 month wait for an item. The website said it was in stock. I am so disappointed and beyond words for the audacity of this company to think its customers will just sit around and wait 5-6 months without any recourse, refund or the products they ordered. I will no longer order anything from Williams-Sonoma. They are untrustworthy and unscrupulous. Take your money elsewhere.

Tip for consumers:
Buyer Beware. You may or may not receive the items you purchased.

I love Williams-Sonoma's products and am a sucker for their holiday dinnerware. I finally decided to pick up their 'Twas The Night dinner plates/salad plates collection along with the red tartan tablecloth. It was so beautifully displayed in their store, and I wanted to create a similar ambiance for our family Christmas dinner. I ordered everything online and they promised me delivery by Dec 22 which I know was cutting it close but that's what they promised. The salad plates and table cloth were delivered on time. On Christmas eve, Williams Sonoma refunded my Amex for the dinner plates. In a panicked mode, I went online to discover the dinner plates were listed as no longer available. I called 2 local stores of which the closer one only had limited plates. The farther one 15 miles away had the plates so I paid over the phone and picked up in person on Christmas eve. I was flabbergasted that the large store had plenty of dinner plates left so I couldn't understand why did they cancel my order instead of shipping from that store. As if I wasn't already busy enough, I had to spend 2 hours of my Christmas eve just to complete the dinner set for an important meal in the year. For that, I give Williams-Sonoma a MEH rating for terrible and stressful online shopping experience. Otherwise, I love their beautifully hand crafted products.

I said in my review of in June, 2021 that that was the last and final time I will ever order anything from Williams-Sonoma; because they take your charge information and then let you know that the item is back-ordered days or weeks later!
And then you are forbidden from returning or canceling the purchase they lied to you about...
On 11/13/22, I ordered an All-Clad pan to add to my set, now they are telling me I will receive it on 12/13/22 - 12/16/22... I REALLY MEAN IT THIS TIME... THIS IS IT! NEVER AGAIN! I don't have a photo of the merchandise to upload because I HAVEN'T RECEIVED IT YET!

Several days before Christmas I ordered Croissants and Jams to be shipped to my sister-- a surprise Christmas breakfast, in fact. The website indicated they would be received by Dec. 24th. My sister called me on the 28th to tell me they received my gift. I'm not grousing about that. Stuff happens. What I didn't know was that she received an incomplete shipment. One jar of jam arrived at her house the first week in January and a second on January 28th. What the f@*k! No apologies. No explanations. The only reason I discovered this is that she called to see if I had signed her for some kind of "jam of the month" club or whatever.

I was a good idea: croissants and jams arriving together, as a package, suggesting a warm family breakfast. Now I feel like a fool.
