“Unnecessary hold funds”

Charis F.

Wells Fargo Held my deposit stating the bank was written on did not have funds, There were funds in the account when the check was written and cleared the other bank. Wells Fargo told me to stop the check from the other bank as resolution. The escalation team did not assist in any way, definitely closing my account hopefully their is another law suit against them it's unbelievable how they to put the blame on their customers and don't address there flawed system

I'd been a long time Norwest Bank customer prior to the merger with Wells Fargo in 1998, so I was accustomed to a great banking experience. Since then I've seen a continual downturn in quality and value in products offered, and a severe collapse of provided customer services. Over time the company has even been found guilty of numerous unethical and even illegal practices. Unfortunately management seemingly hasn't taken the necessary remedial action to meaningfully improve these obvious shortcomings. After my recent unsuccessful marathon experience in trying to work with "Customer Service" representatives to obtain a credit for a duplicate charge on a Wells Fargo issued VISA card (that even the vendor acknowledged as an error) I will eventually be closing all of my CD, Checking, Savings and Credit card accounts with this firm, and moving on to another institution that is service oriented and that better fits my needs and expectations.

We have had Wells Fargo as our mortgage lender for many years with no problems and no late payments. Someone tried to hack into our account and within one week of straightening it out Wells Fargo sold our mortgage to a company that is not accredited, has a B rating, was hacked recently, and is facing a $3.6 Million Settlement Approval In Class Action Over Unlawful Servicing Fees. I know it is legal to sell out mortgage without our consent but I faal betrayed that they sold it to a company called "Mr. Cooper" with such bad history.

The bank itself is great but the bankers at the Harlingen TX location on hwy 77 are completely useless, one lady tells me I can set up an account online, why the heck are y'all even here then. Management need to get them ladies on the ball.

It should be a simple process to make payments using the app. I have not had this many errors and phone calls on trying to set up online payments with any other car loan. Next dealership that suggests Wells Fargo, I will tell to find another or not buy the vehicle.

I went to Wells Fargo bank in Florida at 1700 west commercial Blvd fort Lauderdale, around 3:15 pm 1/6/2023; the teller who waited on me made a huge deal over nothing, ( I wish I had gotten her name) if you work in a bank it should be the norm for you to see that there WAS"an alert on someone's account but it has been cleared already, I use my online banking app relentlessly and I have proof the alert was cleared before I went to this teller's line I didn't get her name but I needed to withdraw 1,400 for a deposit on an apartment I'm new in Florida and I had to be to the apartment office before 4:30p I didn't make it because she took about 30 minutes looking at her screen, I told her I was aware of the alert wellsfargo text me the day before and I cleared it by typing Y on my cell phone assuring them it was me paying for a hotel room, I tried showing her the text, I logged into my online banking and tried showing her my balance and that I am the owner of this account I read her my balance to the exact cent and, told her all my recent transactions, but she still stayed on that phone with customer service for at least 20 minutes not telling them I already verified my identity with my debit card, pin and driver's license but it wasn't enough for her, I finally went into one of the offices and asked for assistance, the lady in the office went to speak to her and finally after at least an 1/2 hour she finally hung up the phone and decided to give me my own cash, I believe she was pretending she was sitting on the phone with customer service because she was bent on making it look like something fraudulent was going on even after she had all the identification she needed she definitely over did it, wellsfargo customer service never kept me on the phone that long for verification so I have no idea why it took her that long, of course I have no proof but I believe customer service hung up with her long ago and she was still pretending to talk to them. Meanwhile the rent office closed because this lady decided to hold my money hostage, I am thinking of switching banks

Wells Fargo held my funds in escrow for 9 days before they released it into my account. For me to have waited that long for my money was highly objectionable. Also, the bank is full of service fees with zero benefits offered to their customers.

Tip for consumers:
only positive is there are many branches across the country

Why can't I talk to a customer service agent in the USA?. They made a few mistakes in 1 month. Some agents accents are so strong u can't understand them. Then they interchange he and she. Then they said gave me a wrong email which idk for 23days but I sent it where they told me. I was waiting on a response so I called back, then they said they stopped my debit card but didn't, so I was waiting on a new 1 that didn't come. Then they said I would get a ph call back but I didn't. They don't give out temporary debit card, they said. They want u to go paperless, I wonder why won't u call with ur findings. They were gonna send a letter within 7days, I was told but I still don't have it 3wks

Bank went downhill over the years. Seemed like a good and trustworthy company about 10ish years ago. Then in 2017 there was a huge security breach and lost 300 dollars and had to contact Wells Fargo to get the money back. A few years after that the overdraft fees started to go up without them telling us and lost hundreds of dollars as a result - that is unacceptable. Where are all those fees going may I ask? It's a scam. Just closed my checking and savings accounts today.

I was recently was pretty much wiped out by some savvy scammers. They actually reached to me via. 5 digit wf number that I had received texts from in the past! (Still in my phone). The wf rep even said this was new to her as well. Never been a victim of such before and I'm pretty vigilant. This trick was very detailed. Even got a follow up call the next day only to be gotten AGAIN! And I didn't even give any personal info! It's all about the phony "identity verification" codes and this "We declined 1k charge from account ending …was this you? Reply YES or NO. If yes, you will be charged unless you try again. If no, we will close your card and send new one". You must READ totally. Never assume it says what you think it says. They're tricking people everyday!

I got scammed out on my Active Cash credit card this past month. Actually Wells Fargo caught the fraud before I did and blocked my card. I discovered all this after the fact. A note on my online account wanted me to called in on their fraud line. The banker assured me the charges would taken off and they sent me a new card which I received a couple days ago. Im afraid to activate it or wonder if it's already activated. I toss and turn I can't sleep at night knowing the scamsters are on to me.
I suppose I could check the card out further but I put the card away and might not try to use it for two or three months because I'd hate to get caught up in a full blown identity theft hassle. The card scammers are probably not done with their caper yet. Will WF notice I don't activate or try to use the replacement card? I otherwise like the card with it's perks and 2% cash back.

I deposited a good a mount of money true the drive true machine, and it tells me that 4 50 dollars bills will not be accepted, so and the end the machine only returned 3 of the 4 bills, so i wonder if you not pay attention, they will keep the money, and you have to call the costumer service, the bankes will not able to help you. Thats the wors sistem ever. And when you call customer service they will tell you that it will take 10 working days in order to check you case..

I've lost my passport and driver license on a trip. Coming back I went to cash a payroll check which is from Wellsfargo. Using Florida smart ID I was rejected. When asked if the smart Id is from the state registered with dmv and holds the same image as a hard copy. Why couldn't it be used as identification when that's what it intended for. The teller answered because it's only for when you're driving with out your hard copy. So it's good enough to operate a motor vehicle but not good enough cashing a check. Nice

Wells fargo closed the main branches in the city that I live near. They say they are going to remodel and enlarge the only remaining branch. But they did not do that prior to closing the other branches close to 2 years ago. I have not been to the branch that ihave had to wait in excessive lines.

Their response is that i can go to one of tje nearby county branches instead. Typical of the now very large bank. Dont care for their customers.

When calling to check on a dispute that I had filed, the customer rep basically scolded me because I "interrupted" him. I figured out that he just wanted very brief answers to his questions. He did not want me to speak out of turn. I complied and sheepishly answered his questions. I would call him the credit card Nazi (like the Soup Nazi in Seinfeld).

I am happy to review this bank... it is where I have done my banking for more years than I like to count. At one time it was a local bank known as VNB... then Wacovia... now Wells Fargo.

It used to have that hometown / small town appeal and ease of doing business... I knew the managers and the staff; they were so helpful and personable. During its years as Wachovia it was okay, too. Now as Wells Fargo, it is a corporate nightmare full of red tape and bureaucratic BS... they require IDs for even making a deposit or ascertaining my current balance. The workers are snippy, smug and impersonal.

I have left there many a day with a terrible headache.

I stay because I do not want the hassle of changing banks or the associated potential failures.

It is just so awful... I have no words.

Two stars... because I do not wish to tempt fate.

Wells Fargo, you are no better than a "special needs" piggy bank...

The bank is ok, day to day service better than B of A. But loans are mercenary with some hidden fees, and their investment services could be better! The latter is composed of a financial advisors that only work about 3 days a week (don't count on them on a Friday or a weekend) They write short articles prognosticating about what path they think the stock market and economy will take. They said China was doing fine just a few months before China had its worst drop ever. On two different periods they made bullish predictions about the U.S. market & encouraged more investment, right up to prolonged dramatic downturns! And contrary to what the rest of the analyst community was predicting. I trusted them, much to my dismay and monetary loss!
Don't trust this group... they call themselves "Wells Fargo Advisors" (I think they used to be Wachovia prior to being bought out by Wells Fargo)

I had a checking account with wells Fargo for a few years and then I joined the Army, I was stationed in Germany so I switched to a military only credit union so I wouldn't have to deal with foreign atm fees and other charges from over seas spending. I had a few hundred dollars left in my wells Fargo account and decided not to close it. After a couple years in Germany I get a letter from wells Fargo saying my account was negative, since I didn't have the minimum amount in my account they nickeled and dimed my account until all the money was gone and then they proceeded to slap on over draft fees on top of that. I was never warned about a minimum balance charge and on top of that I had enough in my savings to easily cover the minimum balance requirement. Instead of moving 12$ from my savings to my checking to satisfy their minimum account balance they proceeded to nickel and dime away $488 and then try to slap on $60 in over draft fees. I'm only giving them 2 stars because once I explained my situation, they dropped the fees and cut me a check for the money they took. Either way I'm sticking to my credit union since they don't have random fees and they reimburse all atm fees.
