“Botched”

Angie A.

Botched! Nice office friendly staff. Dominique did my tear troughs. I explained that my last experience elsewhere had been negative so she went deeper with the filler to negate that this time. After my service I had a lump under each eye. I went this way for three weeks because they told me that it was swelling and that I should watch it for a another week. When I went back in the office I asked for a refund and Dominique said oh no I paid for that product. She continued by saying that she would do everything to right' this which included poking a needle into the raised pockets under my eyes to dissipate the filler. I had to go into the office two separate times for this very painful procedure. Dominiques response was that "tear troughs are hard". In an email she told me that I should get my cheeks done to help with my look. This would be more money and another procedure by well medical will never happen! The final outcome is very unflattering. I have a raised portion and unsightly lines under my eyes. She will reply stating the education she gave me and the offer to right' it (she TRIED twice) but none of that fixes my botched face. I deserve a refund.

Dominique W. – Wellmedicalarts Rep

Hi Angie,

First off we would like to say that we stand behind our work, all anyone needs to do is return to the clinic for their follow-up appointments. We want to make sure everyone is happy and do everything possible to make sure of the best outcome.

For clients who have volume loss in both the tear trough and cheek area we advise to treat the upper cheek area as well as the tear trough to maintain the balance of proportions of the face. This prevents the tear trough from appearing to be on an even plane with the cheek. If we replace the volume in the tear trough without addressing the cheeks we run the risk of the tear troughs looking imbalanced or “puffy”. Keeping the cheek higher than the tear trough maintains the proper proportions of a face and this is a very common combination treatment for anyone with volume loss in both the tear trough and cheek area.

The treatment of the tear trough area itself is one of the most difficult and sensitive areas of the face to inject, many injectors will not even treat the area. We make sure we let every client knows the risks prior to undergoing any procedure. While there are risks to treating the tear troughs, the rewards are in most cases are even greater as we can alleviate the tired look that many patients complain about. In some cases multiple visits are required to achieve optimum results in the tear trough.

One of the most common complication to dermal fillers is swelling (especially in the delicate tear trough area) which normally resolves in a week or two but has been know to last up to 3 months in a small percentage of patients. We give all dermal filler patients complementary Arnica Montana to reduce swelling and bruising and speed recovery. We also teach the lymphatic drainage massage technique to help decrease swelling to every patient. You can watch a refresher video explaining how to do the technique at https://youtu.be/pwN6cU8Vp7w. This link is also included in the pre and post treatment recommendations that everyone receives with their appointment reminders.

We advise all patients and especially tear trough patients to let their swelling entirely resolve post treatment before we can accurately examine the area.

Many procedures, especially delicate areas can take more than one visit with healing times and follow-up appointments. We encourage all or our patients to be patient with the healing process and continue to follow up to achieve the best results possible.
