Thanks for the help... oh wait...
January 29, 2020

To the jerk at WebsiteBox who was mansplaining me left & right (DAN). A term that I do not use loosely and only reserve for the worst cases. Telling me that there systems could not see my changes from the 21st and thus they didn't exist... Ya, there were right there under the older revisions & I found them myself. Without your assistance.

Thanks for not helping and pushing blame on me left & right, telling me over and over again that I must have never hit publish on the changes. Ya, I hit publish on them OVER 30 times on the 21st. All I needed was help finding them and you tried to make me feel stupid. Over & over again you tried to push blame that it was my fault. Over and over again you told me those revisions DID NOT EXIST. Insinuated I must have not hit publish.

You told me the 16th and the 27th were the only revisions that existed as of recent. Ya, that simply wasn't true... and I did not misunderstand you. That is exactly what you said.

Dan, take your 20-years of customer service and shove it. You truly were no help today and deserve every bit of raised tone I pushed back on you for insinuating I was the dumb person who didn't make those changes. You deserve me injecting my voice into the conversation loudly when you continue to push blame. You deserve the choice cuss word I left for you right before I hung up the last time... Because honestly, you were abhorrent in how you treated me from the second I said I thought it could be a fluke in the backend of your system.

You don't immediately tell someone not to "blame WebsiteBox for this" Well obviously, if you can't see my changes there is an issue on the backend or you are incapable of deciphering your own system log. I just really needed help today and you tried to make me feel small from the get-go.

Oh, and btw... the issue was actually on your side the entire time. Thanks for that blame, Dan.

EDIT 1: I received this lovely response from what I am assuming is Dan himself. I have attached the screenshot for your review. Apparently writing someone back with the subject line "Do you need a hug?" is an acceptable form of communicating about the issue. About sums up our entire call from the get-go and his superiority complex.

EDIT 2: Dan continues to write truly lovely responses. Please see attached. I think this is very much a testament to how Dan does behave in his day-to-day business dealings.

Truthfully, this is very much how he was towards me from the get-go when I told him it might be a backend problem. His attitude turned from "how can I help you" to "we are not the problem here, you are." And that is my biggest issue with Dan. But now, he continues to throw additional insults that now extend into who I am as a person. Truly uncalled for.

And all I needed was help finding revisions from the 21st. Not to be made to feel like I didn't know what I was talking about. You don't want someones voice to rise, don't talk to them like they are the problem, Dan. Don't push blame on them. Find a solution to the problem without insinuating they are the reason it's not working. BTW, I wasn't the problem in the end, was I Dan? No, I really did make those changes on the 21st that you insinuated I must have not saved over and over again. In the end I just needed your help and it's obvious that you did not help.

WebsiteBox Delivers Great Value for DIY Websites, Blogs + SEO Tools
May 24, 2019

My initial, very positive review is for WebsiteBox's Legacy (former) Sites. However, because WebsiteBox does not yet offer iFrames (embedded content) on its New System Sites, we have not upgraded to the New System with the much more attractive edge-to-edge page headers/images.

From an SEO point of view, you should strongly consider buying WebsiteBox's $99 SEO Tool and $99 Blog Gadget. Together, with a modicum of time, effort and common sense, you can achieve shockingly high Google Rankings like we have done (essentially for FREE) on our website at www.MacLW.com. While we get high Google rankings for a number of key search terms, we still struggle, like everyone else, to convert "eyeballs-to-calls".

Our website is too wordy (text-heavy) and now looks long in the tooth because it's not an edge-to-edge site like WebsiteBox's New System Sites. We're having to wait to upgrade.

As for the IDX Integration Issues that I see other Brokers and Sales Agents complain about, I cannot really comment. We are 100% Commercial Tenant Reps and so we don't use a Local Residential MLS Property Database. We use a National Property Data Feed by 42Floors, which we integrate with a simple iFrame into our Search The Market page at http://MacLW.com/Search-the-Market. It works fine on a WebsiteBox Legacy Website. But it's one of the reasons that we cannot upgrade yet to a WebsiteBox New System Site.

In general, if you're willing to be patient, do some things yourself, with reasonable counsel from WebsiteBox's Team, and use their self-help/Support Tools, then you can accomplish a lot and gradually climb the Google rankings in your Home Market.

It appears to be a deal, but it's not worth your time!
April 7, 2016

Note: This review comes from real experience with Websitebox. Ok, so it's $99, right? My wife and I are full time Realtors and wanted something somewhat easy and reasonable in price. So we bought into it. Though it has some pics and basic content, you have to really put your own pics of your area and content that pertains to you and the area you work. The site is very buggy and quarky you have to constantly have to invest time chatting (no phone calls) to tech support, which takes added time. All together, it took me 2 full months of solid full time work to get our site up and running, adding and updating all the pics, content, meta tags and SEO to get it fully functional and operational. Now then, figure investing 40hrs per week +/- for 2 months total. If you say to yourself that my time is worth only minimum wage at $8/hr, that is a man hour total amount of $2560. Forget that your time is worth $25/hr or more.

Google Analytics says that the traffic is low. We have great content and pics and the only reason for the traffic we get is the fact that the website address is on our business cards and we have given out nearly 2000 cards in the last 1.5 years. It almost matches up with Google Analytics.

Also, they use to syndicate to Zillow and Trulia (the 2 biggest real estate sites). They no longer do that.

So here is the real kicker! After 1.5 years total of up and running customized website, we have not received NOT ONE SINGLE INQUIRY OR LEAD from our Websitebox website.

Bottom line, with a lot of hard work, you can have a great looking website. But that website will not generate no business for you and it will end up costing you about as much (in man hour labor) as a custom website that will have way better SEO and will generate you some business. Plus you can continue with your real estate business, making money that way and not missing out on opportunity in the RE biz because you are tied up working on your website project.

When I started building our Websitebox site, they used another agents website built using WSB as a testimony. It too looked good as ours (even better). They are based out of San Antonio TX (we are in a busy section of Florida where the business and economy are hoping!). So I called and talked to him. He said between himself and an in-house computer guy, the most leads they got from their Website box website was 1 lead per month. He claimed he spent $5000 with a company to customize a website for them and within the 1st month it paid for it's self several times over. We are tired of not recieving any business and have decided to invest the money and have a custom website that works, were we don't have to create it and it has real SEO to bring in the business.

I'm sorry to bust some people's bubble, but that is the sad truth about a site that you build using Websitebox. You are better off building something on your own using Wordpress or Wix (which are both free) and building it up yourself because it will take just as much time but the SEO is better and will generate more traffic. Otherwise, bite the bullet and invest in a good web that someone else does for you that knows what they are doing and you continue to work and make money, doing what you do best. With WSB, you have to learn all that SEO stuff, that's a total different world that is constantly changing. It's hard to be both (a programmer and a realtor). Stay with what you are good at and let someone else build your site since they are good at what they do best. Otherwise, forget about your personal time because if you're going to do both, you will have no spare time! Bottom line, stick with what you are good at and let someone else help you built your site because they are better than you to do that. It's worth every penny letting someone who knows how to do it right, do that for you!
