Buyer BEWARE!
May 19, 2023

I purchased all the doors and windows for my house in 1992. I was verbally told I would get a 25 or 30 yer warranty. At that time, they were really made well, as we looked at other homes with them installed. No pacstic anything! All aluminum extruded parts clad onto wood, and great seals. However, 5 years after we moved in we had an issue with our front door actually rusting through! From the inside outward! I called and they ignored me numerous times (stalling?). Finally after years of this, A "Field Rep. Arrived, looked at the issue and said he was from far away, but would get me a replacement front door the next time he was in the area. His business card identified him as an actual employee of Weathershield. Anyway, I pointed out that our patio door is unlockable, its screen door had no latch or lock and hardware was missing. All was to be replaced/repaired when he showed up next. Called for 3 more years to get him back, never any return calls or help from their "Customer service" (if you can call it that. We put EVERYTHING into getting into our first home, trusting their warranty and their good (at that time) reputation and they didn't even try to help a good customer. In fact we paid MORE (double) for their windows and doors than the Andersons and other brands at that time. Long story short, I asked a locksmith to help me find hardware to be able to lock ALL of my doors, and he burst out laughing. Said they never put in the hardware at the factory and that is why it won't lock. I asked why I can never open it easily from outside (heavy and always worked VERY hard from day one). He looked and said they put in the hardware upside down so that is why your fingers can't fit on the slider! It has rivets instead of threaded screws, so it had to be made by them incorrectly. We now have a steel door that looks like an old Wisconsin car that saw a few too many winters, a non-locking patio door, non-locking and warped windows, rotting wood window frames despite their "Lifetime warranted finishes, etc. Fortunately, I have not experienced seal failures like most have. Well after the seventh year, I was already told that my warranty was only a five year one-WHAT A JOKE! Today I was hung up on for the fifth time after already being talked to very rudely to start with. All I asked for was the hardware that was never put on my patio door, or a supplier that could help me. Was once again told that it was past warranty, so they wouldn't help. The last question I have for anybody out there is this; even if past any warranty period, wouldn't any honest reputable business bend over backwards to try to help a past customer? Wouldn't they say THANKS for your past support, lets see how we CAN try to help you out? I WILL NEVER EVER BUY THEIR PRODUCTS! And after hanging up on me for the fifth time now (UNPROFESSIONAL!), I will go out of my way to warn anyone that will listen to avoid them like the plague! Hope this rant helps at least one person avoid the bad experiences we have had and still endure from a company willing to overcharge you and treat you worse than imaginable instead of like the good customer you deserve to be treated as. I would give them negative or no stars, but that is not possible on this site! Weathershield, you have my address and number if you want to make things right. I will not hold my breath too long though! Todays "Hang Up" when I was civil and courteous was just too much and the last time for me!

Tip for consumers:

If only I was able to get past the "customer service" filters, perhaps I might get to talk to someone that gives a rip!
