“What's the problem?”

I have purchased over 500 movies on Vudu and I've never had a single problem. Zero. Some of you are doing something very wrong. Hahaha

“Sold me a corrupted unplayable series and then ghosted me!”

Jessica K.
2/1/24

I've bought a lot of series from VUDU. I love to add my all time favorite series and movies to my permanent digital collect. I purchased the complete series bundle of Walker Texas Ranger for nostalgia reasons. It's corrupted. The video stays playing but huge pockets of sound are replaced with LOUD STATIC. This is over multiple devices. It happens in the exact same second of the episode on my phone, iPad, computer or tv. VUDU asked me all sorts of questions about my home video setup…then ghosted me. I've tried contacting customer service but they keep giving new issue #'s. I argue to attach my original issue # and they promptly hang up or end the chat. This company is shady and corrupt as the digital files that they sell.

I've been pleased with the quality of digital movies I've purchased on Vudu. My only real complaint is the closed captioning, which I depend on. On many of my titles, the captioning comes and goes. On one title, it's up to a minute out of sync, a permanent condition for which there is no fix. I'm resigned to this. I delete and refresh my Vudu channel on Roky occasionally to improve its reliability, but that offers only temporary improvement. Assuming prices are the same or similar, I prefer now Apple TV Plus when buying digital content.

Had an incident where i thought they charged me 2xs. They froze my acct, took forever to respond to anything, forgot where we were in the conversation so i had to repeat everything, then instead of explaining to me what had happened they deleted the movie and threatened to close the acct if it happens again. Rude and a huge waste of time. Im paying money to use your services and your being rude. Dont threaten to close my acct when you could have just politely explained and i would have been happy to apologize and pay.

I've like Vudu except a tendency to have a lot of buffering and when you purchase something like Season 5 of Greenleaf, they don't list anywhere that the season is not fully out yet. I don't keep up on when seasons done on shows and I thought I was purchasing the full Season 5 of Greenleaf for $14.99. I find out only 2 episodes are available. The rest is available on a week to week basis. This info should be listed on the descriptors.

Vudu has a good selection of new release movies... and you're able to buy movies before they are released anywhere. BUT, who can buy every movie? AND they don't have captions. Even worse, it costs $5 to rent a movie in HDX... for only 24 hours. If they rented HDX for $3 for 48 hours, so it was more competitive with Redbox. I'd never rent from Redbox again. Vudu... you could put Redbox out of business. But, not at the moment.

We use Vudu for streaming rentals. There are times it does not work or has bandwidth issues and drops to 480 or lower resolution to keep from buffering, just like nextflix and everyone else. These issues usually happen on weekends and other high use times and are dependent on your IPS. If you are planning a night of anything more than casual watching, you'd be better off on purchasing (or renting) a DVD. Imagine having your 8 year old over with several friends with the promise of watching a movie just to find out the service is down or slow. Or that 3rd date with someone special and your Vudu keeps buffering! If purchasing from Vudu and keeping in your Vudu account, keep in mind they will have server crashes, server changes, upgrades, etc. Your account could be lost, deleted or damaged. They will be happy to reestablish your account but if you don't have receipts showing the movies you purchased, your out every purchase you made. To make things worse, they do not e-mail receipts of purchases, they keep that in your account... the same one that may have been lost or damaged! Bottom line, Vudu is great for casual rentals on any night that if things stop working you won't be upset saying, "Oh well, time to go to bed", but for anything more, you really should think about something more reliable. Keep in mind, these comments apply to any on line streaming service, not just Vudu.

I purchased the promotional offer of digital copy HDX on vudu 9/27/17 with sole purpose of recieving the copy and special tiara gift as it was advertised at the time. I waited for movie to be available in stores, then weeks for the movie/gift to be sent to me, nothing came. I sent an email to customer service on 10/27/17, but still did not get a response. I called customet service 11/11/17 and got MELISSA who repeatedly said the promotional offer had ended in June. My question was if it ended in June then why was it still being offered in September when I made my purchase. She told me to send in a screen shot of the offer then they would honor it... wtf... if I knew at the time I would have this problem, of course I would have taken a picture for evidence. She repeatedly said her team adviced her that the promotional offer expired in June... what happened to the customer is always right policy... I have been a customer for years and definitely am not trying to get something for free. If I make another promo offer purchase I will make sure to take a pic of the offer as proof, but reading some of these reviews, I am not sure if a problem did come up that it would be fixed correctly.

Vudu's services stream just fine. I have 14mbps coming down from them right now
The catch is this: you can't stream using a browser anymore and are stuck using their app. Their really poorly written app.

Don't $#*! about your T-Mobile Tuesdays $#*!, don't complain about conspiracy thoeries, don't moan and groan about buffering. It ain't them in those instances, it's you. Solutions:
Pay for your movie
Buy physical copies
Get better internet.

Their app sucks on PC and their lack of PC browser play support is horrendous.

Also, jaqueline, you're absolutely out of place review made me smile. Thank you!

Vudu sells 4K UHD movies that you cant play anywhere with their app. I recently purchased Geostorm from Vudu online in 4K UHD format. I get ready to watch the feature on my Samsung 4K 65 TV. I bring up the Vudu app, and low and behold, the max resolution setting in the app stops at 1080p.no 4K setting. I go the web and Google the issue thinking maybe I am doing something wrong. What do I find, lots of posts stating that Vudu claims Samsung is blocking their 4K streams. Samsung claims the issue lies with the Vudu app. Well, guess what? It is an issue with the Vudu app. Here is how I know. I first tried the app on my 65 inch Samsung as mentioned previously, and the max resolution setting in the app was 1080p. I then went to my Samsung 40 inch 4K UHD (late 2016 model) with HDR and load up the Samsung appsame issuemax resolution setting is 1080p. I then load up my Apple TV 4K which just hit the market. I bring up the Vudu app, and guess what, max resolution setting is 1080p. So finally, I go to my new Sony XBR 4K UHD blu-ray player, load the appand you guessed itthe max resolution setting is 1080p. So here the deal, if Vudu is going to sell 4K UHD movies at a premium price, they better get on the stick and fix their app so that it is capable of streaming 4K UHD pronto. I think it might be time for us to band together and start a class action suit against Vudu.

I have been a Vudu customer for approximately four years. I have over a thousand movies in my cloud account. Everything works fine unless you have an issue and try to contact online support. They do not provide a customer service phone number. I had purchased some movies about four months ago in order to obtain a discount movie theater ticket voucher on a recently released movie. I never got the voucher and went thru several E mails with Vudu online customer service with no resolution and finally gave up. They were totally clueless. Then I purchased "The "Mummy" with Tom Cruise to get a $3.00 credit. I got the credit verification code but it was invalid. I E mailed a copy of the verification code as a word doc. And they said they needed a JPEG photo. So I took a picture of the Verification code with my Android phone and E mailed a picture to them., They said they could not open it and to send another one. This is to much hassle for three dollars. I am seriously considering buying my digital content from another provider. I have spent literally thousands of dollars with Vudu, and this is how they treat their best customers. Shameful!

Its good and all but. When you go and purchase a dvd from the store that has the digital download, JUST BE WARNED, when you redeem the code for that one, you get SD. SD PERIOD sucks with vudu because its like the worst quality and its not because of your internet. Its like stepping back into the 1990's. But if you invest 5 to 10 dollars more into the blu-ray, dvd, digital HD bundles, you redeem the code and you will be given either HD or HDX versions and they are so much better and the quality is exactly like your dvd!

Again, its an ok service just not please with SD
And you are better off buying your own copy at the store and be happy with what ever version (depending on how much you invest for either SD or HD) and enjoy the free part of it.

I would never buy my movies just digital. You never know if digital programming movies will be around that long in life... just my opinion

Tip for consumers:
Remember! Buy the hard copy from stores always!!

invest in 5 to 10 dollars more to get the Bluray, dvd, digital hd bundle to get the best quality from your free digital code
