I've been sparsely posting on this site for 12 years. (recently briefly active again) One just HAS to leave after repeated attempts to find sanity. This is the dumping ground for banned Troll rejects fromother message boards who are much better moderated. Behavior is condoned here not allowed anywhere else since non-Moderated Yahoo mbs.

A few even called it 'Stormfront light", but that website has much more sober/sincere posting than USMB, and would NOT allow the juvenile Trollling that goes on USMB every minute. SF knows alot of outsiders read it, and they wouldn't tolerate the embarrassing childish clownery/trolling on USMB.

One simply can't even post in the Environment section (Climate) without being hounded off, WITH management's silent complicity. The Two mods who post in the section are Warming deniers and condone the Rampant Trolling there. (Flacaltenn, and the dim bulb 'westwall'). Trolls, Namely skookserasbil, jc456, Billy_bob, etc, mock every serious sci poster there.

With great effort, and after four or five reports to specific senior mod, I got Climate Clown/Troll skookerasbil banned for 5 days. He came right back doing the Same thing.
I reported it to same mod, and he got merely thread-banned.
That's right DE-escalating infraction penalties!
Any other board would at least double his ban time to 10 days or Perma-ban him.
He does it Every day. No content trolling posts with 3 or 4 Juvenile baiting emoticons.
No adult posts like that.

One can put up a serious OP/thread starting with a WSJ or PNAS (proceedings Natl Acad Science) article and get overwhelmingly "Funnied", so that that is what one sees/is visible when looking at the section. And others in 'Politics' section etc.

The OP puts up a Washington Post article. He gets overwhelming "Funnied"(11) by Right Wingers. (one can see this looking at the section overall)
The first response (from a Rightie Troll) is nothing but a Picture of a young man wearing a tinhat, and it gets 5 Positive (no neg) clicks from the other RW Trolls.
This is just typical. And on it goes with stupid "Screw Yous" and emoticons. It's the NRA Junior High.

I posted a serious thread in 'Politics' and was Mocked into oblivion, so one amateur mod moved my serious thread to the 'Badlands.' After hours of debate, threats/counter-threats, I got it moved back to 'politics.'
IOW, it was so badly Trolled, I was blamed for a Flaming topic and it was flushed!

This board doesn't want to give up any posters/pageviews as it is filled with ads, and that effects their bottom line. Also doesn't want to dump Paying Trolls.

As far as I can see NO one gets banned, as trolling is the pastime of 30-50% of the posters BOARD-WIDE.

I see a mgt person responded here to "sourgrapesBannees", but that's hardly the problem, (they must have shot someone). The problem is the board is 50% Unbanned trolls, and mods who know NOTHING about their jobs. Nada.

I'm a member of multiple discussion/politics forums including World Discussion Forum and Historum.com (both of which are excellent), and I've been ousted from one Christian Politics forum and one World Politics Forum, but as of yet have not been banned from US Message Board (USMB) as 'Abishai100' (though I have received a few warnings --- but hey who hasn't on the anarchistic World Wide Web?). USMB offers surprisingly well-educated moderators, some smart/savvy regular members/bloggers, and some very intelligent (and beautiful!) American women! It really has something... for everyone(!). I'd recommend it to anyone looking for multi-faceted pedestrian/professional perspectives on all kinds of modern issues relevant to American society and global culture (commerce, celebrity, culinary arts, whatever).

The only drawback is that the opinions are strong, so be prepared to be shunned and/or criticized shrewdly about the intentions/intelligibility of your comments. And I disagree there are many biased bloggers on USMB. I've been blogging now for over 15 years (retiring soon!), and USMB was by far one of my favorite memories (I keep a memento toy-briefcase in honor of it), which is why you might even discover that a Hollywood actress such as Charlize Theron --- star of "Atomic Blonde" and "Mad Max: Fury Road" --- is on it (using an alias of course --- are you cunning enough to decode?).

USMB deserves some kudos/honors for those responsible for organizing/coordinating/choreographing it. There's even fun sections (e.g., Flame Zone) for those looking to blither and offer gibberish about why Trump is not Jesus.

If you're a Stormfront reject and/or Trump voter, you'll love USMB. You'll be allowed to threaten to kill all liberals. The more openly racist you are, the more applause you'll get from your fellow conservatives there. You'll be allowed to break board rules with impunity, being how rules are only for liberals. You'll be allowed to troll the board with every new FOX/Breitbart/Trump/Stormfront/AlexJones conspiracy theory, secure in the knowledge that anyone who debunks your cult nonsense will be banned.

Every liberal/moderate/merelymoderatelyrightwinger on USMB tells the same story. None of them have ever had any trouble on any other board, but as soon as they showed up at USMB, it's all censorship, mod harassment and banning. Mod Westwall, who got his mod position by donating/bribing the board admins with some seriously big bucks, is especially fierce in his Stalinist devotion. Wanting to get his money's worth, he spends his days looking for any possible excuses to censor and ban the mean ol' liberals who dare laugh at his cult conspiracy theories.

I suppose that's why USMB is cratering in the Alexa rankings compared to other political message boards. Conservative/Stalinist echo chambers don't have much appeal.

USMB is good for is for few things. You can go in and easily make the very delicate Trump-snowflakes cry for a little while, until they go whining to the mods to have you banned. And it's a good illustration of how creeping Stalinism has overwhelmed American conservatism.

It was early evening beside the lake and the sun barely above the crest of the earth. Two soul's had gathered outside their tent staring into the ember's of what at one time had been a fire. They watched the ember's as they cracked and glowed because those two soul's also cracked and glowed. Like a blessing from God a breeze struck the ember's and with it life as two ember's became two small flame's.

The very breath of God became life as the two ember's grew and started to dance. They drew closer together as if they were courting and the dancing became more intense. Once gathered they wrapped and they curled growing ever stronger and more alert to each other.

Alas their soul's touched and the tear's of angel's began to fall. But it was not damping the soul's of the two but bringing a hush of nature to this joining. The flame's danced and bonded through the night over and over. As the sun rose the next morning flame's now smaller the two soul's glowed and crackled together.

I was sent a link to this page by one if the reviewers. I was a very active member at this site for about 1 1/2 years and some of the comments here are very much spot on. Avoid USMB like the plague!

There was a time when it was a decent site. There were always trolls and it could get rough, but there were also good discussions on a wide range of topics and a real community feeling among the active members.

Several months ago it started to change. The head Administrator started going on incoherent drunken rants then vanishing for a week or more at a time. He installed his mistress as a co-Administrator who is woefully unprepared to handle a child's lemonade stand let alone a decent-sized political forum. It started to go downhill fast.

Established members started disappearing. The quality of discussion went way down. There were several waves of trolls, pervs and bigots who had heard if you'd been banned everywhere else USMB was the place to go. They'll let you get away with anything. And as traffic fell and they were hurting for new members, any new members, that started to be pretty much true.

I was hoping the members could turn it around, that it was just a down cycle. Two straws broke the camel's back on that one. First, I received a PM from a member threatening to "track you down and rape your kids till they bleed". It wasn't the first threat I'd received, by far. Most I never bothered reporting, since the Administration's attitude had become "STFU and deal with it". But this one was so vile I forwarded directly to the head Admin. Days later I got an incoherent PM in reply calling me a "f***ing leftist $#*!" and a "whiny b***h". Nothing was done.It sounds like someone else may have had a similar experience.

At about the same time there were a couple topics started denouncing the outright racism that was taking over the forum. The people who denounced it were called "bigots" by both Administrators and ordered to stop "infringing other members' free speech". There were even a few bans, and not of the people using the terms "n***er" and "k**e".

In the meantime, "debate" on the board had mostly degenerated into name calling, vulgarity and trolling. There are, or were, some decent folks there trying to moderate. Infractions or bans would be handed out, Administration would reverse them, and the members crowed about it on the open board. The level of... well, just garbage going on was horrible.

The site is a business, owned by a company that runs several other forums and seems to not care about how the place goes down the tubes as long as the ad money and "donations" keep flowing. I simply will not patronize any business that allows its customers and their family members to be threatened with rape and other brutality as a matter of "policy" or "free speech", nor will I patronize a business that not only condones but protects and even seemingly encourages racism. I left and never looked back.

And it may sound dramatic, but since I left there it feels like a weight has been lifted. It's like detoxing. Seriously, the atmosphere is that poisonous.

I've been on forums and chat since the BBS days in the 80's, I'm no shrinking violet when it comes to the internet. But I've never encountered hate, spew and filth like I did there in the last few months and it was headed even further down last I saw of it, which was several weeks ago. Unless you're a troll, bigot or stalker looking for a kindred spirit AVOID!
