“USA Job site”

T J.
9/7/20

I have used USAJOBS in the past and was unsuccessful. I believe that was before they updated the site slightly, after the update I was able to apply easier. I also spent a little time reading the helpful information and tips regarding the site. I successfully applied, received notices and a job offer. Just takes time and patience.

“Use this website if you hate getting hired”

Look at the reviews, they say it all. I'll never get the time I wasted on this site back. It's a front for government agencies that are required to post ads but will actually fill them with internal hires, incumbents and friends. Use other sites, become a contractor first, develop relationships with people in your industry, go to jobs fairs... do ANYTHING but waste HOURS for each application here which will end up a dead end.

As a military veteran very dissatisfaction you can put your resume as discovery mode for recruiters to contact you. You will most likely die before they do. This website is tailored for the impossible and VRE will not help you obtain any career on this website good luck with that even with a masters degree in the stem field

After applying for over 2 years I refuse to continue to entertain the USAJOBs Friends-Only Network anymore. As a Disabled Veteran who is tech savvy with a Top Secret, it is basically impossible to get even a GS-7 Human Resources position, or even a GS-05 Labor position which is absolutely ridiculous considering my skillset. It's a TRASH website for TRASH people. Not to mention, most of these high-ranking GS civilians do not do their job and stay home most of the time. They are cheating the system, and getting paid high dollars for it. If you wanted a worker, you would have hired me. Now all you have is a bunch of losers not doing much of anything. Worst resume-filtered job application website in the history of mankind. Stay away before it tries to suck in your soul. The Devil himself made this website.

Tip for consumers:
USAJOBS should be renamed to USELESS.

I am a former federal employee, 15 years with NATO. I have attempted the last few years to get back on board as I am a career employee with with no break in service limitations. The USA jobs website appears to almost be a dormant website. Rarely, if ever, are positions that one is referred for updated. I have called and emailed several times the hiring official(s), for a particular position, to be advised of the current status. I have absolutely lost count of how many times the hiring official/entity I end up speaking
To tells me the position was already filled or deleted for some unspecified reason. For those interested in a federal career and you are highly qualified, your opportunities are limited and rendered useless on this USA Jobs website. The best opportunity is to gain a position with a government contractor. I find that those people tend to be hired on into federal positions that are posted on USA jobs. Not sure why the jobs are posted in the first place, because they (the contractor) normally slide right into the position. The position will be immediately filled...however, If one applies for that position (that is posted on USAJobs) the site will eventually simply state/reflect "received" or "referred" even though it has already been filled. That notation will remain when you look for application updates for months, even a year... I'm assuming eventually it will drop off, but I've been at this for years... It's becoming a waste of time loop of uselessness. If you have applied for a position, look for that hiring official email address or phone number. Contact them, get updated...It will save you from waiting for the database to update since it probably NEVER will.

I read the comments here and am not at all surprised that people are describing USAJobs in a negative light. 13 applications deep and I arrived nowhere, except where others are describing in the comment chain. I am fully qualified, with 2 degrees, a disabled vet and still can't get a job. So, I am no longer using USAJobs as a source for employment research, nor applying through them. They should be shut down.

Its hard to search for positions, its hard to find if you fit the requirements, there is no feedback. Half the time if you email the associated support address you just won't get a response, and if you do get a response they will give you a generic response and say that there is not much they can help you with.

I have never gotten a single interview from USAjobs, despite the fact that I have 10 years of relevant work experience. My advice go literally anywhere else.

I think you're generally better off just going elsewhere for your job hunt (if online). The sign in process is not user-friendly. The two-factor authentication only provides options for calling or texting your listed number. If it fails to be received, you can click again, but after a few tries, your account will be locked (for 10min at a time). Their only solution is to delete your account and start over as the only means to "reset your preferences". I say, "absolutely useless" and "where's the 0/5 option". Unless someone else can provide me with a solution, I can't recommend USAJobs.gov. Thank you.

The majority of people who have GS jobs is through internal connections. Either they know somebody in their military chain, and beware, they're many haters from the military to see you go over them in positions to get a job. I have 2 degrees, and over 24 years experience in management and Human Resources and know all the political bull $#*! in certain people getting the job, you can trash the Equal Opportunity department since they're there to help the ones in charge of hooking up the organization. Never tell someone of your past that works HR about you applying unless you're a grease ball like them kissing up the ranks. USA Jobs is a joke, good luck in finding. Thank God, I retired and did my time, enough with the BS, and happily retired.

Just like many of my applications "not being considered for this position" or "qualified, not forwarding to selecting official" with no explanation of what was "considered" or why I was "qualified" but being forwarded on to a selecting official. USAJOBS is a Firewall that the Federal Government hides behind. I have several first hand examples. I would have given a no star rating if possible.

Tip for consumers:
USAJOBS is only helpful to someone applying that has an HR employee in the agency the applicant is applying for waiting for the application. It has been a fixed site for years.

USAJobs.gov is the worst job application site that exists. Plan on spending a few hours just filling out the application on USAJobs.gov only to find out that all the information you just filled out is irrelevant because the department or agency website will make you fill it out all again. You're better off filing for unemployment than applying for a federal job. They make the job requirements so specific that unless you have made such a niche career path choice, they don't want you.

Some of the jobs are ageist, ridiculous with qualifications required that don't align with the pay grade. They make you take long assessments, some want you to not submit your resume but create a completely new resume from their tool. Don't waste your time because no one ever got a well paying government job through this website. I have only ever been offered a hint of a morsel and it was a job with the TSA that I didn't apply for. No thanks. That's a high turn over, you only need a warm body to stand there type of job. I didn't go to college just so I can rummage through someone's luggage and invade their personal space with a pat down.

I've applied countless of times in the past, but more recently as I've had to move different states a few times. Im a military spouse now which makes it more challenging for me to find a job as I'm moving around. The VA states there's eligibility for military spouses, but I've applied more than a few times with no success. I've given up. There's no interest in supporting military spouses here.

I can't effectively filter jobs. To get anywhere with applying, it takes applying to about 500 jobs. That means you need to be able to view and sort jobs efficiently. Instead, USAjobs makes the applicant keep selecting "more jobs" even after filtering for "status," or sorting by "date applied." It only lists a very limited number of jobs. Sometimes that filter disappears if you try to select "more jobs." Given that this system is one big "numbers game," they need to fix this. Veterans don't get a positive response without applying to many, many jobs. Also, the status of "reviewed," is not informative. They changed it to generic "reviewed," when before, it actually said "referred" or "not referee." Now, the applicant bears the burden of clicking each of, say, 100 jobs listed to see status (about three clicks or even more, when Usajobs stops responding and makes the user click three times to get a button to work, which frequently happens.

The requirements listed in the position are not the requirements they ask for in the questionnaire. You waste time constantly tailoring resumes and find out you're not qualified based on the questionnaire. Put the REAL requirements in the job post.

I have used USAJOBS.GOV for about 7 years, I have never once even recieved an email from any potential employer. Fast forward to now, I have been using Indeed.com and I have had interviews and have actually gotten a temporary job, but something is better than nothing.

I have applied for numerous jobs that not only was I extremely qualified for but should have had disabled veterans preference. I submitted not only the requested documentation but extras like licenses and certifications.

When I get denied it not only won't tell you why, it doesn't even say why exactly, simply that we can not determine if you are qualified or not. Thia despite the fact I submitted ample evidence of qualification for almost all the positions I aplplied. This is what interviews should be for.

I have seen postings up for one day implying they are not actually searching and likely already had a hire selected and just posted it to meet requirements. I sincerely believe most jobs you see come up have pre-selected hires.

Tip for consumers:
Don't get your hopes up here, it's a check in the block for organizations full of nepotism.

A time-wasting monster with poor authentication methods, obsession over security that comes at the expense of retention of federal applicant files. Constant resets, deactivations, and notices to delete accounts and rebuild federal CV usually leads people infinitely frustrated that they give up on federal jobs or advancement and just go elsewhere.

The website is difficult to navigate and when you finally get your information/application submitted for a particular job, it's 50/50 on whether the agency will receive your application. Do your best to deal direct with the agency or use Indeed. And don't bother trying to call USAJobs as there is no phone to get help. It's all by email and the "help" you get is pathetic!

This website's hiring process is the worse I have ever encountered! I am a 10-year veteran with a master's degree and I keep getting told that I do not meet their qualifications when I do! This website is a joke and until the government sector gets its process of hiring fixed, I will not be applying again! Come on employers, you need to do better for your veterans!

This job site is worthless and fake and run by inept people that waste jobseekers time. I've applied for more than 200 plus jobs in 2 years and receive no feedback either positive or negative. Had one phone interview by CBP and was mocked for being unemployed. Whole purpose of looking for a job is to get one? Correct? I'd stay clear of this sucker trap of a job site.

USA JOBS website is a complete mess.
They only cater to military wives who don't have any job experience. You never get referred for jobs, even when you are truly qualified for the position. They need to take this misleading website down.

I can't imagine a more ludicrous experience job hunting than USAJOBS.GOV
I have 28 years experience in my Nursing field with Master's Degree and I am Honorably Discharged Veteran. I applied to 39 separate Jobs and not a one yielded much. I had a get "Referred" but still nothing. The Application Questions are absurd and obviously not written by anyone who was acquainted with the Registered Nursing Profession.

This is the gateway to Federal Jobs so I said that was enough of that! These jobs must require an insider to help one out which I don't have. I finally gave up.

Learned that you are actually fighting against an algorithm, not a human. If your answers do not meet the pre-determined check boxes, be prepared to be disqualified. It almost requires your to BS your resume and answers just to even make it to a human response. The selection process is pretty beyond brutal and a lot of the jobs are asking for unrealistic levels of experience. A lot of the jobs are underpaid for those seeking to get their foot into the federal system.

Trying to log in after I changed my password. It keeps auto filling in and old expired password, then tells me it is not valid. I try to use my new password and it says it is not valid. So I sign up AGAIN for a new password and it keeps auto filling the old one and won't accept the new one. Ridiculous and a complete waste of time.
