I have been doing freelancing for 1.5 years now. I habe recently joined upwork and I am surprised by its wonderful policies. I was missing a lot and was facing pathetic customer service on other popular platforms but upwork always take care of its customers doesn't matter if the customer is earning them 1$ or 1000$. They value their clients equally.
I've found great clients and projects on Upwork. I have also learned additional skills through varied projects and a great way for freelancers to showcase themselves and earn money. The payment system also works very well and is secure.
It a great platform. I really love to work on this platform. This is one of the great patform for the freelancing website.
I've belonged to Upwork for years and have found their servicing to be excellent, and the platform an almost ideal one for freelancing professionals eager to work with serious clients.
My review of freelancer, never appear on his profile... hhmm wonder why, maybe because its not positive?
The reviews of freelancers might be fraud. First i hired a freelancer that onyl had VERY good reviews. It turned out, that the freelancer's ability was VERY limited. Sadly lesson learned and 3K dollars burned.
Freelancer was very agressive to get paid (should have know better).
There is for sure some good developers there. But they might offer low hour rate. BUT they take 3-4 times as long and you end up paying at least the same (often more). Its way better and cheaper if you use a professionel company in your own country.
Most say the have experience in alot of areas, but FACT is, most are self learned and only have very basic skills.
The work the freelancer did was VERY basic( could have dont that myself) often had to tell him and show pics many times, before he knew what to do... no wait... he never knew. When he could not figure out the work, he just in the end told me i had to do it myself. WHAT! Why even pay him to do it then?
Use your money on developer firms in your own country. Much easier communication and in the end faster and at least same price
I tried several online work platforms over the years and used a few of them.
Now I only use Upwork.
Yes., they have their issues, but no one is perfect.
Just because some people do not agree with a policy,,( I being one on the occasion), doesn't make it a bad policy.
Some of the clients can be out of line, yet I have always ended with a positive experience with the help of the customer service at Upwork.
Need work?. From home or even locally in an office, take a few weeks and try this platform.
Do not expect overnight results as a new freelancer, but once you get established with a good score,, people seek you out for work.
"try it, you'll like it"
Place to find experience and connections
Would recommend for any freelander, especially people starting out
I never thought I could but...
Within 3 days I got my first client and then 4 days later my second.
So the start was great.
Why I rated 4* is that Upwork takes 20% service charge. That's high already but they also make you buy "connects".
You need to buy "connects" to be able to send proposals.
I think this is unnecessary, given the size of their platform.
Not to end on a negative note, it is a great chance to build your portfolio and gain experience.
However, in the long run, I do not know how much of my earned money I want to throw at them.
I recommend it for anyone getting started and side hustling.
I started in upwork as a lead generation specialist it was wonderful of being part of this platform. As a freelancer they offer a secured payments on every project that I have. Wish to have more years on this platform.
Been using Upwork since eLance days (2014). My experience has been positive overall. Given the scale of the business and money involved, it's realistic to assume at some time you deal with unscrupulous people, both clients and freelancers. But IMHO they are a minority. Upwork does appear from time to time prune the marketplace, so overall they seem to be on the right track. Still it'd be nice to see more investment in customer support, especially for dispute resolution.
Besides the biggest plus point to me has been witnessing Upwork hiring freelancers for it's own development needs. That shows trust and deserves respect.
Thanks.
Great place for work remotely with different countries, different peoples and cultures. Highly recommended,
I am glad to writing about one of my great inspiring platform who allow me to ultize my skills from sitting at home without travel to abroad or leaving your love one in native country. Up work allow us to do some thing out of the box. Especially during these days it helps me allot when i loose hope and there is no way of earning so here finally i started worked on up-work or within 5 days i have started getting paid.
I must appreciate to this platform to providing opputubity all around the globe which could help a lot unemployed
Best Regard

Suggestion from a former loyal Upwork user - DO NOT USE IT. I'd been putting up with their high service fee (20%) charges as I believed that they were a reliable platform - but I was wrong.
Their customer service is TERRIBLE - rude and ignorant. If you did anything "they determined to be wrong" and that you aren't even aware of, next thing you'll find your account being suspended, and you'll receive an accusation email requesting you to write a statement like you have committed a crime.
If you don't follow their "rules", they'll do whatever they want to your account - for example, delete your information, terminate your account - because you are not "behaving".
Oh, forgot to mention their "conversion fee" - 12% of your 12-month earning. Don't know what they invented that for, but be careful as what you have been working hard on could be easily taken just like that. How convenient.
Great to create work opportunities for world wide, I say's just Thanks. This my first freelancing marketplace
It is an amazing platform, l am working in Upwork since 3 years and l am planning to continue.
It has sincere clients that pay on time. It is very secure not like the other platforms that are full of spams.
Very smooth system that allows you to create your own income. Nice experience and great way to network yourself.
Upwork is a great place to work on! Integrated business experience where I find all what I possibly need to work from all the tools and security standards till finding great clients from worldwide.
You are working on upwork but only system is win, it cost you 20% of yours and gets you connection money.
The plataform is great, but they do steal the freelancer and employers a lot of money. Not only they take 20% to freelancers (I'm sure they also take a cut from the employer) but they also make a microtransaction sistem to apply to jobs. As if we where rich. Wich makes it a very unpleasant experiences. Big bussines wanting to fill mor and more their pockes. Taking advantage of us. who are desperates to try rto make a decent living.
Sadly, is the only way I have to stil have an income, so I will keep using it.
Upwork is great place for both freelancers and clients.
I'm freelancers and joined upwork a while ago and found my success.
Thanks Upwork!
Answer: They are horrible. Every freelancer I've gotten from Upwork has cost me more to fix the small job they have done. There's absolutely no customer service! I would stay away
Answer: This is not the place to inquire.
Answer: No, just 20% of your job when we talk about fixed price, and same for hourly but after some week it's been 10%
Answer: Go to Settings › Contact Info › Click the Close my account link. If you meet the requirements, click the button to confirm that you want to close your account.
Answer: I am a customer and have had a really horrible experience. Upwork claims a 100% guarantee before you pay anything. That is not true. The process is actually quite horrible. You put money in escrow. You only get your money back after a bad contract if the freelancer agrees to release the money. If the freelancer refuses, you get a bargain offer to still pay them something but still you are paying for a bad job you can't use. Then, if you refuse to bargain over a bad job, you are told that it will cost you an additional $389 to arbitrate with a 3rd party affiliate that the customer (me), the freelancer (scammer) and Upwork (ripoff enabler) has to pay. I took it all the way to arbitration with the end result being that Upwork decided that I was just too uninformed to know their policy and that they would give me a one time only refund of my original amount. What they didn't tell me what that they just gave me a "credit" of my original amount and that was the end. So I am still out the original amount and can't get my money back. This sight is a ripoff. Plain and simple.
Answer: Because of their policy changes which are geared towards the client rather than the freelancer. They have dug their own grave with their policy changes of late.
Answer: Go to Get Paid on PC or Mobile, you will see 3 dots in front of your payment method, tap to select edit/remove to change them. Go to Billing Method on PC under Billing Section and tap three dots to change (edit/remove). Thanks
Answer: Be part and see, dont look at the sold mine reviews people, upwork can bush you to reach.
Answer: I agree with Sam. This place is a scam. They have bad reviews everywhere. Katrina is probably working for them!
