I have rented from U Haul many times. Their ecquipment whether a utility trailer, cargo trailer or truck has always been a great experience. From initial check in to final drop off customer experience always A-+++! They are always helpful with accessories or safety check and I appreciate that they always do hookup and release. I have traveled many times from state to state across America and locally. They are TOP NOTCH in my book! Keep up the good work people

Rented a truck a few weeks ago with excellent service from the clerk on Pulaski Hwy in Baltimore, MD. She took my license, made a copy and got me on my way in a few minutes. Today I tried to rent another truck, with the misfortune of getting a different clerk who insisted I had to take my own photo of the drivers license with my phone, and refused to help me when I explained I had no phone with me. She was rude and dismissive. White, thin, 50-60 yrs old. Will find another rental company from now on.

I had a very bad experience with uhaul and the way their people treat us customers like we're the ones taking food out their mouth. Last year I rented a big truck and they charge my card in advance over $178 the person clearly told me that that was not the final pricing and that when the final pricing was determined which it was close to $400 the $178 was going to go back into my account. I tried to talk to this people and all they could say was that I got the wrong info and that was it…,So no more U-Haul for not today not ever!

U-Haul will not guarantee that their trailers and trucks will not leak water. I pulled their small trailer in the rain. The trailer allowed rain water into the trailer and damaged belongings that were at the bottoms of the boxes…that part that sat in rain water. U-Haul and their insurer would not cover any of the damages to our belongings. RENTERS BEWARE THAT YOU ARE TAKING RISK TO RENT FROM U-HAUL.

Booked an appointment online for a hitch install at 8 am. I was on tight schedule so I had to drive 1.5h to the nearest available location.

I arrive there and they are not aware of the appointement, and did not order the necessary parts for the install.

They managed to find the necessary parts online by chance. It has been 5 hours and my car is still waiting in the parking lot.

This is ridiculous and will take by buisness elsewhere.

I was in Kingsville, TX helping my son move. We needed a 15 foot truck and I started looking at the U-Haul locations there in town. I started out at Farmer's Exchange on 14th Street. The gentleman was exceptionally nice and helpful, but did not have the truck that I needed, so he called around until he found one. Unfortunately for me, it was located at TCB. Here's my experience.

Upon arriving at TCB, I was informed by a woman at a window that I had to wear a mask even when outside on their property. Those rules obviously did not apply to the staff, because the maintenance man was moving back and forth from inside to outside without one. When I informed her that I didn't have a mask, she insinuated that she would RENT me one. I found that gesture to be quite unusual to say the very least.

Trying to talk to this woman was like trying to speak to someone who only spoke in a foreign language and her attitude didn't help.

Sure, she had the truck, but she wasn't going to rent it to me because it was a one way rental and she only did in town rentals. You see, she likes to maintain control over having all the vehicles. And she reserves the right to rent to whom she chooses.

She wanted me to give her a secondary phone number as a courtesy. I told her that I could not give her a secondary phone number and she basically rolled her eyes and refused to help me any further. When I started questioning her about what she was doing, she told me to leave the property or she would call the cops and have me arrested.

U-Haul used to be a great company years ago, but it seems that with the change in corporate, it has become a place of business where depending on your look, gender, attitude, etc., determines whether you will be able to do business with this company.

U-Haul really screwed itself by hiring this "woman". Someone needs to be checking her out; maybe a few corporate people need to swing on by as customers and try to do business with her and see what happens. They may be quite surprised at what they experience.

To say the very least, I was insulted and treated as if I were an enemy. IF (and that's a big IF), I have to do any moving again in Kingsville, I will see the gentleman at the Farmer's Exchange, if he cannot help me, I will find another moving company. No more U-Haul for me! It's simply not worth it.

A Novel, by Crystal H. Sorry, since this is just a review, it'll have to be a short story (as it can be).
OH virtue! Where hath you gone!? Certainly, not with the owners of the pair of companies I just so encountered! Warning, upcoming oxymoron! I'm a novice writer, and have no words...for the shenanigans (aka scam) that I just encountered on, Feb. 4,2023. Again, long story short, if you plan to use Uhaul as a tool for moving help, please reconsider! Oh sure, they set it up, send you a quote for a 3rd party (or "brokers") mover, who WILL, without a doubt, only a couple hours before your move, refuse to move you if you don't agree to pay more than initially quoted. The "movers" (aka "swindlers", otherwise known as movinghelp.com, specifically, a moving company I will not name on this forum, but is owned and operated out of Fargo, ND), allowed his help, we'll call him, "sweet as honey after getting the money", to hang up on me when I argued that this "pay me an extra hour" or else demand, at 8:30 am for a move scheduled to begin at 11:00am, was completely left field. I had no choice but to agree to pay it, and I stipulated, if we can't get it done in the originally agreed amount of 2hrs., after the owner of said establishment, called immediately after I emailed the "ghost" email address (movinghelp.com provides), with an SOS about his help, "sweet as honey after getting the money" refusing to show up and hanging up on his client, gave me a tirade on how he, "needs to fire this guy, but I'm gonna punish him by making him do the job" narrative, ‍ sent his crony. SO, "sweeter than honey after paying the money", shows up, and when my so kind brother-in-law, et al, (aka reinforcements) suggested we could get this done in allotted time of 2 hrs, he again refused to continue, stating in sweated fury, "I'll just leave if you don't agree to 3"! So I had no choice but to agree. (via yet another email agreeing to pay the extra hour, which must be accepted for work to continue). We stopped helping to some degree, as "sweeter than honey" (this is when he truly earned his title) assured us we didn't need to help. Uhaul, of course, dropped off the face of the earth at this encounter, and asserted they have no further duty to assist. In other words, sorry, YOYO, you're on your own, although, the owner of this establishment in Grand Forks, admitted he had had complaints before with theses characters. Well! Thanks for setting me up there Haus! Meanwhile, "sweeter than honey after paying the money", finishes the job in just 2.5 hrs, which could've been less if we'd helped. He did apologize, (of course he does after being paid the extortion money!) In conclusion, you will get a code that you release to the mover upon completion of the job, that pays the proverbial swindlers. I could have booted them out the door, preferably with me inside behind the locked door, and not paid them, but then, I would be no better than...you fill in the blanks.

Rented from there, drove almost six hundred miles. Fed more baloney than when a recruiter talked me into the Army. Read and get a hard copy of your agreement. Follow the instructions closely! I was told uhaul didn't care who was the driver. Not!

I used Uhaul twice recently and was shocked at how many things went wrong. Either the company does not have service standards or is terrible at hiring workers. When I reserved the truck in Palm Desert, CA I had a great experience, but when I went to get it, I've got a worker who was rude and even though I had asked for a tow dolly I got stuck with an auto transport thing, which I had to hook up – the worker said he couldn't touch it and didn't even watch me do it.
Then, when I returned it in Gallup, NM, I've got a man who kept talking on the phone and wasn't paying attention to what he was doing. I admit I played a part in this return's disaster as I have brain damage: I left with the truck's key. I did ask before leaving if he needed anything from me and he said no so it is not my fault he didn't do his job right. When I got home I was exhausted and went to bed. Since my phone was dead, I didn't get the phone call from UHaul, telling me about the key. The following morning, the worker showed up screaming at me and although I called and left a message, he did not return the camera I dropped in the cabin. Talk about being dishonest and rude.
Then I rented another truck in Casper, WY and said I wanted the 30-day storage space offered. The girls at the facility were super helpful and friendly. Best ever, really. When I got done unloading the truck, I called the place I was supposed to return it and they didn't answer the phone. I called twice and left messages but aparently, they didn't listen so I called the place where I got the truck. It was Black Friday and the worker said she would call the place in NM to solve this and call me back.
That didn't happen. I texted the store's manager who apologized and kept trying to figure it out, also without results. I called UHaul, whose recording said I could go drop the truck, that the facility was open all-hours.
Obviously not true, otherwise they would have answered my calls or returned them. There was no way to do anything else so I didn't return it that day. The following morning I went there and the worker said she must have missed the call, that she was there the previous day. I told her I wanted my storage and she said she didn't have any available. Amazingly bad work ethic. Either UHaul workers do not know how to use their systems, which the worker there complained about or simply do not care. Avoid using UHaul if you can.

U-Haul used to be good, rentals are easy and quick pick up. Recently they are trying so hard to catch up with the times, and is doing check in and pick up online. The online system is so slow and stupid it took 40 mins to "approve" my rental. I canceled it in the end coz I'll never want to rent from U-Haul ever again. And you too, don't waste your precious time at this $#*! hole.

Word to the wise: when they ask you how long you need the truck for, if you're wrong, and you bring it back later than you said, U-Haul will hit you with a second day charge. They don't tell you that, and okay, it's in the small print, where it says they "may" hit you with a fee, but when you rent a truck, Always tell them you need it for a full 24 hours. Losers!

This isn't a matter of inflation, it's a matter of thievery and price gouging. Oct 2020, sent a Ubox from Baltimore to Portland OR. $1200. We choose to use a tiny ubox because it's the AFFORDABLE option. That's literally the point. July 2022 (20 months later) Quoted $1800 from Portland, OR back to Baltimore. I said that's fine - summer was peak inflation and I have no issue with that price. However, I did not know where exactly in Baltimore I was going to living yet. So, Uhaul said, we can store it for $100 a month until you know then ship it.

FOUR MONTHS PASS AND THEY NOW QUOTE ME $2600.

20 months - $600 increase
4 months - another $800 increase

This is what they do. They have your $#*! and so you have no choice but to get $#*!ed. It's the third party shipper's price but Uhaul really needs to do something about this business agreement. People will stop using uhaul and slaughter the ratings because of this price gouging. Will never use again.

I originally scheduled to rent a 20ft truck from a U-haul location near me on July 13th. August 17th two days before I move they call me and tell me I have two options if I want the truck that I scheduled for. Both options are an hour away from me and they would not give me any way of getting the car. I talked to this Regional manager in Illinois named Gabriel. Who said that was the best he could do and did not help me any further than that. I hung up and call the customer service number who found me the exact truck I reserved at a location in my town. I'm pretty sure the regional manager just did not care and did not even want to answer phones. I don't know how you can have an organization that deals with people moving across the country and even around the that just don't try to help. The. Customer service lady that answered, her name was Autumn. She helped me with exactly what I needed and when I told her I was having problems with the regional office in Illinois, she scheduled me for the truck without making me go through them. She's the only reason I gave this company a two instead of a one.

Have checked online for the last 2hrs at every U-Haul within 15 miles of my house and keep getting sent down dead ends. All I wanted was a pickup truck for 1 day and the only stores that have them available aren't open the day I need and all the stores that are open don't actually have a pickup available. Whatever U-Haul we're done waisting time on you.

Used U-boxes. They did not deliver on the guaranteed delivery date, nor did they attempt to contact us; although we attempted to provide delivery instructions (website would not link our account and our reservation) attempted to reach them by phone, and finally reached them by chat where we were provided a DIFFERENT number. Called that number and were told it was too late to make it on today's delivery (Friday) but would deliver Monday. Okay. Got a call next day saying they can't deliver for another WEEK after they already said Monday and was told "that's what my supervisor told me to say" and that we could pick up the u-boxes ourselves otherwise. We agreed to the delivery date stating we have no choice, and were advised this changed the guaranteed delivery date so they don't have to pay us the $50 a day for breaking the contract and on top of that will probably add storage fees which were not needed as we have been at the new house 2 WEEKS prior to the guaranteed delivery date. On top of that, this rep had an attitude. You lied to us, did not do your job, broke the contract, are holding our belongings hostage, adding additional charges, and YOU have an attitude? I will NEVER use this company again even if I have to buy my own semi-truck to move.

I can't even leave a proper review on their website because the only thing they allow me to review is the pickup and drop off location. I can't review their service or the actual truck itself.

I had a long distance move. During which the app and website both kept failing, kept resetting while i was trying to use it, kept logging me out in the middle of looking something up. Customer service was a joke, everybody redirected me to someone else, only to find out two days later that the question i was asking "wasn't even a possibility." It was impossible to get a hold of my "local scheduling manager", whom I got redirected to several times. I was automatically put on hold after the phone stopped ringing and nobody ever answered.

So FYI - you can't upgrade insurance after you already have an uhaul reservation. Which doesn't make any sense. I would have paid to upgrade it. Even though their website claims you can "edit an existing reservation", all you can actually edit is where you will be dropping the truck off to. Nothing else.

The air in our truck stopped working the first few hours of our trip and it was a very hot day. It started working again after 3 hours or so, thankfully.

I'm really disappointed in uhaul - they were shockingly terrible for having such a large presence.

Rented truck in Oakland California. Customer service was good and there was no problem with the truck. However when you see 19.95 advertise on the side of the truck you believe the rental is $19.95. What is not mentioned is that you are charged. 89 a mile, which is acceptable, except you are charged for 50 miles upfront even if you do not drive 50 miles. The $19.95 rental ended up costing $98.00. It is actually cheaper to rent a panel van from Enterprise, you get free mileage.

I tried placing my order for moving labor for 2 days on Uhauls site. I kept calling MovingHelp directly [Uhaul wouldn't help me at all] and was on hold for at least 20 minutes before giving up. I then went to the MovingHelp website directly and was able to finally book it through their site. HOWEVER. Once I actually booked it, their site changed my address automatically because it is a new-build neighborhood and their system didn't recognize it. I tried to change it on the site and it wouldn't let me. I went ahead and booked the reservation with the incorrect address thinking they could change it on the back end. I use the Live Chat, to avoid being on hold for another 20+ minutes, and they told me they couldn't change the address and to call their phone number or the mover directly. My credit card now has 4 charges showing from them because they kept trying to process the order I submitted that their system wasn't able to process. Seriously. Use their site to find the help you need and read the reviews. Then just call the mover directly. Such a WASTE OF MY TIME.

Tip for consumers:
Don't bother using MovingHelp. U-Haul, you have such a good reputation. Get a business partner who lives up to your standards. MovingHelp is definitely not it.

Recently purchased storage unit at U-Haul in Memphis off Illinois Ave. To sum it up the employees are ghetto and/or ratchet; didn't know their job properly enough so me ( the customer) was charged for 2 locks to my unit. Reason being I brought a lock that was meet for trucks. I would have just paid the difference but no it's a whole new fee. Not to mention what's purpose of access cards when the doors have been locked with a key to were here the doors trying to open but are locked. Took a lot more time moving into unit. The picture of lock below was told U-Haul no longer uses these locks; haven't for over 20 years.

On their emails- texts- website it says that if the store does not have the equipment uhaul will get the equipment to the store for you in preparation for your pickup. Well that was not true. We spent time that we did not have calling other stores, calling corporate and no one could locate us the furniture pads we had reserved. It was almost hilarious how incompetent people were. The man at the store gave me other stores numbers to call. Like how is there not a database with equipment? With no help there I was transferred to corporate and they were like "oh we will take them off your bill" and I was like "no I need them I don't want them taken off." Eventually I gave up and just never got them. On my account on uhaul.com I contacted them to make sure that the costs were taken off my bill and then weren't but they promised they were now. Guess what? At our destination when I paid guess what was not taken off our bill? It is just a mess. No communication across dealers and stores and corporate. You talk to one person and nothing is resolved. The whole experience made me so mad! I had to call corporate again and dispute the charge and ask for a refund because they made me pay for it in the store EVEN THOUGH I NEVER GOT THEM! Even after all the times they said they were taking them off my bill. At least at the end they were able to give me a refund. But my goodness, SUCKY customer service

I called a local Uhaul gas station to see if they had a car dolly available. They said yes, but that I would have to call the reservation number. I did and they said that location did not have a car dolly. I gave them another location to check which I was familiar with. They had one and made the reservation. I drove down there, filled out the paperwork and gave them a credit card. When they went to attach it to my truck, the unit was dagaged and couldn't be used. They sent me back up to Langhorne. They only had a car carrier, but would charge me what I would have paid for the car dolly. Somehow the price went from $47.65 up to $170. After arguing for 30 minutes, I finally got them down to $70.14. I was still overcharge. The female employee was very nice and tried as best she could with the reservation person on the phone, but couldn't get it any lower. I'd give you the contract number, but I can't read the paperwork since the ink probably ran out a month ago. When I came back two hours later to return the car carrier, she waqs the only employee there. My son and I helped her push the car caqrrier into a space to get it out of the way. My son worked for Uhaul over 20 years ago. Nothing has improved since then. My reservation number was *******.
