I had pretty low expectations (just with online helpdesks in general), but TheKnot has EXCELLENT customer service. Everytime I had a question, someone responded via email within 20 minutes with a detailed explanation on how to do whatever I was asking. If you live in Canada, and can't do a cash registry, then they let you make a hyperlink to an alternative site! They're super helpful and everything I asked, they had a solution for. I don't usually write reviews, but I was very pleasantly surprised with The Knot.

I almost never leave bad reviews/leave reviews in general but I felt the need because if this review can save one other small business friend from wasting hundreds or thousands then it's worth it. It is honestly so messed up that this huge business takes advantage of small businesses the way they do. I have a small local home bakery and am trying to advertise towards the wedding industry more so turned to the knot/wedding wire. I was basically convinced into their lowest rate ($250 a month) by someone who worked for them who told me she had her own small business and advertised with them and it was the "best decision she's ever made." I think looking back she was lying to my face - which is so heartbreaking considering I took a huge leap of faith in saying yes - and the knot ended up taking over $3,000 from me and in return i got NO customers (lots of leads that went nowhere - which were probably fake). They also make you pay for 12 months minimum (because if you book a wedding and your spot on the website gets taken down then the client can't contact you -which doesn't even make sense because you could give them your contact info at any time) which is how you get stuck! Please please please if you are a small business don't get tricked like I did. It's a legit website but they list so many businesses on here that there's almost no chance you will get business, and will waste tons of money and time trying. Learn from my mistake- its in your best interest to stay away!

Ordered invitations and those came out great! But had to make a reorder and there is no way of doing so. I have done EVERYTHING their customer service personnel has told me and would STILL have to remake my entire design. There should be a reorder button right in the previous orders menu. THIS IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO FRUSTRATING and I wish I went another route now bc this has taken days!

Tip for consumers:
Just make sure to over order invitations!

Hi Abigail. I'm so sorry for any confusion. Our in-house design team would be happy to pull up your previously customized designs if you need to reorder more!

The best way to reorder your custom items is to just order through our site like normal, with your correct quantity (the minimum quantity is 15). You will click the Personalize button but won't actually have to make any changes in the editor. Once you are on the editor page, please indicate in the Design Note section that this is a reorder and you want to use the custom proofs we created for you before, referencing your previous order number. Then click Review + Save, and proceed to checkout. This will serve as a placeholder for your custom design.

After your order is placed, we will follow up over email to confirm that no changes are needed from your previous order. I hope this information helps. If you need any help with your order, please feel free to email help@theknot.com. We'd love to resolve this with you!

The knots website is great. Easy to use, many options, great tools, and tons of information. But their calendar events are wrong and their customer service is horrendous.

Currently when a calendar event is downloaded for an event on the Knot it gets set in CST not in your local time zone. We are a week out from our wedding and I just noticed this so all of our guests have a digital (luckily we sent emails outside of the knot and physical invitations) calendar event for our wedding that is an hour after it starts! When I addressed this with their customer service I was told our computers are wrong (myself, 2 of my groomsmen, and the mother of the bride all tested this and the time is wrong). When I tried to reason with the customer service team they told me I was being rude, that they were right and I was wrong and that I need to learn how to "Set my time on my computer". As they are saying that I am looking at my clock on my PC set to EST which is my local time zone. They finally escalated my request but told me it wouldn't be looked at until after my wedding because I "wouldn't accept that I was setting up my computer wrong" (apparently the other 3 people were too), so absolutely useless.

Bottom line. If you want a good place to build a website and have a landing page for your guest, the Knot is #1. But if you are outside of CST DO NOT utilize their calendar events, send emails, texts, and physical copies of your event times so your guests know. Also if you call their customer service be prepared to be told you are wrong even if you did nothing wrong.

Also a side note, if you use the honeymoon fund registry. They charge a 2.5% fee for every deposit that is incurred to your guest. Its not obvious but its there...

Would rather pay for something that is works well. Paying 15-20k for wedding, might as well pay a small amount for the main thing that allows people to rsvp

Although TheKnot is good in general, it really focuses a LOT on the commercial side of things (since that's how they make their money). Specifically, there is no way to ensure that your guests see your website before being able to go see your registry. For most people, this is ok, but we wanted to make sure that our guests were welcomed to our event before being directed to a place to buy us stuff.
Personally, if they were more accommodating with simple things like this, I would have rated them higher, but the response I got for all of these issues was - we don't support that.

We've been a TheKnot advertiser for about 5 years and I can say that their services are legit. We've spent months working on our profile and getting the best pictures possible and we do see a small return. The only problem is that The Knot costs nearly twice as much as their nearest competitor and from a web development standpoint it is filled with glitches and problems. Their tech team clearly has no clue how to build a fully functioning website of that size. We pay around $1,000.00 a month and I know other vendors that pay as much as $3,000 a month to advertise on The Knot. We currently pay about $500.00 a month for similar services on WeddingWire and elsewhere.

theknot.com is helpful but could include more areas for interaction between readers. It is very comprehensive in the topics that are available and lists tons of resources, advice, articles, etc.

I ordered 2 personalized items for an engagement gift, after waiting about 10 days and still not receiving any sort of confirmation email saying my order had shipped or anything, i called in to get some answers. The "supervisor" from California named May was the rudest, most unhelpful and unprofessional people I have ever dealt with. She refused to help me and said they did nothing wrong and basically that I was "$#*! out of luck." I was very excited about my purchase and after this experience I will never order from this site again and tell everyone looking for wedding stuff how terrible this company's customer service is. What a disappointment and still cant get over how disgusting May's behavior was.

It was nice to be a member of TheKnot for the wedding planning tools and all the free offers and deals (we got our wedding guest book from Shutterfly for free through TheKnot). The planning checklist helped me initially as I got started with the planning process, but then I never used it again after I made my own checklist.

My complaint is that the wedding website builder was very frustrating to use. It was SUPER slow most of the time, and about half the times I logged on wouldn't even load the page I was trying to view or edit (This was not an issue with my internet connection. Every other webpage I would use during the same browsing session would function just fine). It was convenient for many of our guests to RSVP online and for me to get email alerts when they did, but for several guests the online RSVP didn't actually work. I was so glad that I created a Google spreadsheet where I recorded all the RSVP information from email and snail mail, because I frequently could not get into TheKnot's guest list manager to view RSVPs.

If you're considering using TheKnot for your wedding planning, go ahead and create an account for the details and planning help, but build a GoogleSite or other simple web page for your wedding website. It will save you a lot of time and frustration.

I am a vendor and i am very dissatisfied with the customer service I have received at The Knot. If there were another website out there that was similar I would leave in a heartbeat. I think they are able to take advantage of this and screw over their vendors. Really hate that I feel the need to continue using their services.

I think everyone starts with The Knot. It's huge, and everywhere. It's an ok source, but definitely not the best. The Look Book is fun to flip through, but go elsewhere for vendors.

In short, use it as a resource if you like, just not your ONLY resource.

I, too, had the same Christmas debacle experience. Had I wrote this review Christmas eve, I probably would've given The Knot a minus 100 review. However, I also realize that things happen and wanted to give the company a chance to right their wrong. I did a little research online and reached out to the CEO. He immediately put me in touch with the customer service manager, who immediately tracked down my package and had it overnighted. She and I emailed back and forth and they are in between switching warehouse companies. While I was beyond frustrated that I wasn't going to have my products for Christmas, I also understand that things happen that aren't always within our control. 100% the online/phone customer service department did not handle things how I would have wanted them handled; which is why I reached out to higher ups. I know that when I ran a business, people don't always handle situations like you want them to (like you are paying them to). So, in a nut shell, did I have a good experience? No. But I am not going to blast them out of the water because mishaps do happen and they did remedy my issue. The products were beautiful and I got them at a steal of a price. I just printed pictures of the products and wrapped those in a box instead. Once the gifts arrived, their quality was second to none!

So, I'm getting married soon. I'm at a complete lost of what to do, where to start, what's good and what's bad. Came across the knot from pinterest and I hated the site. I mean, freaking hated it. In order to see much of anything I had to sign up. Well, what if I don't want to and I just want wedding ideas? To my chagrin, I signed up and I didn't regret it, oh my gosh they're so helpful with lists and countdowns. I signed up with my facebook and they automatically put his name in the "groom" slots. I thought that was super cute. BUT they don't have everything, just some things to get you started a lot of suggestions on where to start and a few tips here and there. They even have an app. These are all good things, but what I didn't like comes next.

Call me bridezilla but I like everything to be in one place, super organized and details just right. When I want to take a quiz on which wedding dress is right for me I want suggestions on where to look, link me to some websites. When I say my budget is $6,000 be reasonable. How can I spend $38 on the grooms tux and shoes? When I see wedding ideas, share how they did it or link me to more pictures, maybe a wedding story link not just an option to like it.

Yes, I'm being a bridezilla I think. But I don't think it's the BEST site for weddings, just a good one. I'm a firm believer that if you want the best, you go to Pinterest. Where you can get it all from one site to a million other in one board, two boards, twelve boards if you need it.
