“They Don't Pay You for Articles You Write”

Danielle H.
10/6/23

I was asked to write something in transparent.ai. The platform wouldn't save my certificate (I received an error message), so I copied and pasted it into a google document. When I asked about submitting the article, I was told that I needed to completely rewrite the content! All of this for a $5 article and because of a glitch in the platform they use. I refuse to rewrite 500 words all because one of their tools isn't working. It's not worth writing for textbroker since they provide their writers with 0 support.

Textbroker is a great tool for quality content, however, I have found it to be trial-and-error in finding a good, quality writer.
I like that I can directly request my top writers for new articles, rather than put it into a pool for new writers.

Hi Kristine! Thanks for taking the time to leave this feedback! It's great advice to continue working with authors who you know you already like rather than putting your orders in the pool for any author to complete. We're glad you've found some authors to work with on an ongoing basis!

I found some very good writers here. But you have to give it time, or be very lucky :) Now that I have found some, I'll use TB more often.

I appreciate being able to get the content done quickly but I use Textbroker as a last resort. My work is very research-intensive and many writers do not fully read my instructions, which is frustrating. Some writers take the articles in completely irrelevant directions. It often takes a revision or two to get the work right. Overall, though, the work is satisfactory with some edits.

I was satisfied. They were fast by submitting the projects in a brief delay. Only I would love if they could separate the paragraphs with headings.

Hi Gudhealth! Thanks so much for your review! Our authors can definitely separate the paragraphs with headings. Next time you place an order, just be sure to ask for that in your order briefing!

The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday said that it might consider the recommendation of the Metro Manila Council (MMC) to the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) to ease Covid-19 guidelines for fully vaccinated individuals in the National Capital Region (NCR).
However, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that the main consideration for the decision is the fact that majority of the population is still not vaccinated "and hence it may lead to discrimination especially to those who don't have access to vaccines yet."
"We are carefully reviewing and studying these kinds of recommendations. Furthermore, DOH maintains that we still cannot differentiate between those vaccinated and unvaccinated as Covid-19 vaccines are not transmission-blocking," Vergeire said.
Fully vaccinated individuals, she pointed out, can still get infected and even transmit the virus.
On Thursday, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Benjamin "Benhur" Abalos Jr., also the concurrent chairman of MMC, said that easing of restrictions for fully vaccinated individuals in the metropolis would help the government's campaign to vaccinate the rest of the population, and that the move would gradually bolster economic activities, particularly industries and services greatly hit by the pandemic.
"With the NCR being considered right now to be the epicenter of this pandemic and the region with the most number of vaccinated individuals, we are confident that we can find the right balance between safeguarding the public's health and reviving the economy," Abalos said.
Abalos cited that the NCR registered around 56 percent of the eligible population or 5,492,344 individuals who have completed their doses as of September 8, while 84.21 percent of the eligible population or 8,262,558 individuals already received their first vaccine shot.
"Administering first dose of the vaccine is crucial, but approximately a month from now, since most of the Covid-19 shots have a three to four-week interval from the first shot, those who got their first jabs will eventually complete their vaccination," he said.
Abalos added that by October 8, Metro Manila is expected to reach 77.57-percent vaccination rate or 7,601,685 of the total eligible population.
"The more people who complete their inoculation, the sooner we can achieve population protection," he said.
"And since the AstraZeneca vaccine has an interval of 12 weeks at most between the first dose and the second dose, we expect 87 percent of the eligible population in NCR to be vaccinated in three months time or not later than December 8," Abalos added.
Metro Manila local chief executives urged the IATF to "consider the easing of the Covid-19 guidelines for fully-vaccinated individuals in NCR subject to the conduct of an inter-agency and inter-disciplinary study to determine the appropriate policy therefore based on scientific and empirical evidence," the resolution, which was unanimously approved, stated.
Metro Manila remains under modified enhanced community quarantine until September 15.
The MMC, composed of the 17 Metro Manila mayors, is the governing and policy-making body of the MMDA.

From other reviews, it seems that site is either hit or miss. However, in the past couple months that I have been writing for them, I have had a great experience. There are many different categories of articles to choose from. You can find articles that pay a decent chunk of money if you look and are willing to do the work within the given deadlines. They pay on a weekly basis and always have work from different clients to choose from. The only drawback is the time it takes for some editors to edit and accept content. Other than that, this site is very fair to their writers.

I am a part time freelance writer and have worked for a number of different "content farms" and crowd sourcing companies, and Textbroker is one of the better sites I've found. They have a lot of work available; their pay scale is decent, and their customer support is excellent. My only issues have been that some clients try to scam authors out of content by requesting revision after revision, and in those cases (I have only experienced two) TB has been unwilling to intervene on my behalf.

Textbroker is not the highest paying site around, for sure. Their four star writers get 1.5 cents per word (they charge clients a fee as well, so the client pays more than that.) However, if you write solid, well-researched, ORIGINAL content, you will get paid what you are owed. They use PayPal, and I have never had a problem getting a payout; it is usually in my account the next day. In fact, my only problems have been with clients giving poor instructions and then complaining that an article didn't meet their needs. However, now that I know that TB gives me the ability to look up a client's "stats"--the percentage of articles they have rejected or requested revisions on--I avoid that issue by checking to make sure the clients I'm writing for don't have a high rejection or revision request rate. (The client I had a problem with had a rejection rate of over 50% and a revision rate of close to 200%.)

As to the complaints by clients that the work is substandard--they are probably right about 60% of the time, but what do you expect for < 2 cents a word? What's more, I find it astonishing that these people think that the writers should not only write well, but also know about SEO algorithms, keyword density etc. That is the CLIENT'S job. American companies have gotten so used to sending everything overseas that they seem to have lost sight of the fact that they are not going to get the same amount of work from an English speaking worker in the USA as they get from someone in India or another impoverished country for $4.00 a day.

I took two writing jobs that paid a tiny bit of money for 500 words, same client, approximately. Client wanted a rewrite 4 times on one of the articles. He was only paying 1.80 and I am worth way more than 1.80 an hour.

He was unwilling to pay for more than 2 stars and I told him that 1.80 was not going to pay my bills. I advised privately that more stars would get him more rewrites. I saw at the end of the week that he had eventually asked for 5 star writers but they too put his job request back into the queue, as he was asking for too many rewrites.

The only problem I have with this site, is that the client can ask for 2 star writers and then demand that they write, re-write and re-write again if the client wants something different then what they originally asked for. People are cheap at heart and want as much as they can get for as little as possible. I wish there was a place on the website and under the jobs available where we as writers can put comments about the clients, so that everyone doesn't waste their time.

That way clients that are especially difficult, the potential writer knows what they are walking or accepting into.

I've just recently started but it's going along pretty well. Some articles require a frequency of a certain word or phrase, which is supposed to help for SEO google analytics, but, this can be challenging if you want to use them and write professionally. I've come across (without naming the actual product directly) an article that required me to write "Tylenol buy" three times. Not "buy Tylenol," which would be much easier to implement. So I had to figure out how to squeeze that in with some lame line like: "Make sure to check out the generic brands if you want to save money when you Tylenol buy."

So my advice is to be picky with your articles and save some face.

There is too large of a skills gap between 4 star and 5 star authors. An article from a 4 star author usually contains poor flow, flawed logic, and takes several hours of personal editing to get into a final state. A 5-star author generally has post-ready material. Considering the fact that a 5 star article costs 3x what a 4 star article costs, there is a huge amount of stratification in ordering. I would like a happy medium between the two ratings - I am happy to do some touch up editing and am willing to spend more than a normal 4 star article to get it, but think the nearly 3X jump between 4 and 5 star is too much.

Textbroker is a good site for writers. Though the pay scale is not great-- I am rated a 4, which is excellent by their standards, and the pay is just 1.4 cents, they always have work and they pay every week like clockwork. It is possible to upgrade to level 5, which pays a nickel per word, but you have to pass their proofreading test first, and I haven't had time. Good supplemental income for beginners or those who are self-employed as I am and subject to the whims of clients.

Overall it has been a good experience with some bumps that are hard to forget. My actual rating would be 3.75 stars.

Here is why:

1 - I think some writers should have their work prescreened for quality by Textbroker at various author star levels because at the three star level for example, you will frequently receive texts that will either require various revisions or heavy editing on the clients behalf before using the texts due to a great number of gramatical errors, factual errors, structure of phrases, etc. Increasing the star level of the authors will decrease the need for corrections, but that seems no not be a good excuse to be allowing authors who are not yet ready for a comercial environment, on the Textbrker platform.

2- The UX design needs some work because of the problems stated above. It would be important to me to have access to the ratings given on each individual order, directly on the past/current order list, and maybe even provide a function to allow authors who I have rated 5 stars for previous work, to either be notified I have set up a new open order and have a period of 6 hours for example, where one of them could choose to take it before it goes in to the "public" area where "new authors" can "grab" the order. The "new authors" are like a lottery, and can be very good or horible.

I could go on, but then I would have to invoice someone for consulting fees.;)

Congratulations for the following:

"Thanks for donating to help impoverished children in Africa"

Hi Hilton! Thanks so much for your honest feedback! We definitely understand the frustration of needing to send multiple revisions back to authors. However, we wouldn't be able to implement a review of orders before they go through to clients without a large price increase on our self-service pricing. We do offer Managed Services if you are interested! This would take the workload off your shoulders. In lieu of this, I would recommend that you consider either going up to the 4-star quality level, or perhaps putting together a team of your favorite authors to work with going forward. If you would like more information or assistance building a team of your favorite authors, please email us at clients@textbroker.com and we will be happy to help you with that!

I've used textbroker as a client actually submitting requests for articles to be written. They provide a good interface for managing your article writing assignments and for defining the requirements that you have for the assignment (as the client requesting an article to be written).

There are other services out there like this. Textbroker is one of the better ones.

I've used Textbroker and had success on both sides, as a writer and as a publisher (content requestor). I've found them to be fairly quick and easy to work with. You get to work with the writer (or publisher) directly so you usually get what you want; Textbroker is just the facilitator. Sometimes the choice of topics is pretty slim but if you are a 4 star writer then you can access the vast majority of writing requests. Be sure to proofread your stuff before submission!

Been a member of this website for a while now. Really like them, and they are a good website. Decent pay for your writing too. Are a bit skimpy on writing topic descriptions though. But as writing for pay websites go, this is one of the few good ones that I have found. You sign up and submit a writing sample. They are pretty prompt to respond, and will rate your sample by stars - 2,3 or 4 stars. Your star level will determine what writing assignments are available to you. Don't worry, they usually have plenty to choose from. They now pay bi-weekly, amounts starting at $10 dollars. Good writing website.

Sitejabber for Business

Gain trust and grow your business with customer reviews.

From the business

Textbroker is the leading digital content creation site. We bring clients and authors together to create custom content, such as blogs, product descriptions, press releases and more!

Business History

The idea behind Textbroker is to satisfy the growing demand for custom content. As an SEO provider, Textbroker founder Jan Becker-Fochler experienced first-hand the increasing importance of unique content to his clients; after all, unique content leads to a better ranking in search engines, more traffic and more revenue. Then, in 2005, Becker-Fochler came up with the idea to search for authors, motivate them to write, rate the quality of their work and compensate them for their effort. To accomplish this, he commissioned the development of a preliminary version of the Textbroker platform.

Within a short time, thousands of authors eager for the chance to earn money with their writing signed up. In 2007, Textbroker launched the Internet’s first content marketplace. Today, Textbroker authors deliver high-quality product descriptions, blog posts, press releases, social media posts, news stories, and technical articles and a wide variety of other written content to clients around the world. In essence, Textbroker is a better, faster, easier and less expensive way for companies to get freelance written content.
