Scammers
September 1, 2024

In October of 2023 I was willing to give Temu a try. This was due to a lot of positive "feedback" claiming they were a decent site with really good deals. The first order I placed was for several items, some of which I only ordered because in order for the "Free Shipping", you have to spend a certain amount. Out of my order, one item was not there. I was sent an empty box for it instead. I reached out to Temu who apologized and offered me a refund for the $5 item. Hours later I was sent an emailstating that I had a credit at Temu for the $5.19, not an actual refund. If I ordered the item again I would just have to spend more than that for shipping, so I gave up. Move forward to August 2024. I decided, after multiple emails warning me about my credit at Temu, to give them another chance. This time, one of the items that I purchased was a building block set. The item was clearly advertised as a very specific set, with multiple photos showing the set being of a specific size (size was clearly shown in metric and standard), showing the buildings in it being of a specific detail and size, and even showed an overhead view clearly showing the layout and number of buildings. I placed my order and ended up having to wait the full 10 days for it to arrive, only to be sent a smaller, cheaper knockoff of what I ordered. I went to the Temu site, was only offered a refund and not the item I ordered and paid for, so I reach out to "support". Now, it has only been minutes since I received my package, and mere moments since I had gone to their site to try and get this resolved. Their agent informs me that since the refund (that I never asked for) is already complete, I will have to order again if I want the item. Now, I still don't have my money, and even if I did I would now have to pay for shipping on an item that they have already pulled a bait and switch with me on. This company claims that customers are important, but they have shown that only committing fraud is important. If you choose to order anything from Temu, be aware that if you get what you ordered you will be lucky. I will be taking all of this and submitting it to the FTC Consumer Protection, this company should not be allowed to do business in any country if all they are doing is scamming customers out of their money.
Someone from TEMU puts a response here to contact them through the website or app, but when I go there, I only have options to look at my order or leave feedback. So...they intentionally make it nearly impossible to actually speak to anyone. This is just a really bad company, my advice is to avoid them.

Tip for consumers:

Company pulls bait and switch tactics, and forces supposed refunds to prevent having to deliver what they actually advertised and sold.

TEMU AND THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE OF MY LIFETIME
August 16, 2024

I've always believed TEMU cops a bad rap. Sure there's some hit and miss, but in my case it's mostly a hit and then some. I've lost count of how many compliments I've received, especially TEMU'S. I received so many compliments in regard to my snow boots I purchased three more pairs in different colours! TEMU'S customer service is also exceptional and has that same warmth and fuzzy feeling reminiscent of my magnificent snow boots. That was until today. TODAY I RECEIVED THE WORST MOST PATRONIZING SORRY EXCUSE FOR SO-CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE. I have been ill spending time in hospital and to past the time I shopped. I ordered a leather skirt which wasn't leather which didn't bother me but it had creases that wouldn't budge and to was far too long fory five foot tall tiny self. I have spent THOUSANDS of dollars and I naively believed that even though the return window had closed TEMU would cut me some slack so to speak. I had lost the bag with the barcode in which the customer service representative kept ignoring me simply banging out automatic responses and offered me a 20,% credit on my next order. When I informed him I didn't find that acceptable he kept barraging me with automatic word salad pertaining to the essential nature of the barcode and other useless information. It was like we were engaged in some demented electronic square dancing where I was the only individual paying attention and he was off in his own world and obviously attempting to be rid of me ASAP! OH BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE. When I asked if I could speak to someone else who may able to assist me he REFUSED. To add insult to injury he made a passive aggressive statement, the very rare response which wasn't automated wishing me a wonderful, super day yadda yadda. SURE. I AM SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING TAKING MY BUSINESS ELSEWHERE

Parcel was left outside my house by evri and stolen, Temu refuse to refund or take responsibility
July 9, 2024

Where to start, I ordered from temu on the 13th June, the order was split into 3 parcels, the first one due on 19th June. I checked the temu site to see when it would be delivered(as had no emails either from temu or evri the courier) and it said it was delivered by evri earlier that day with a picture of it just left by my front door, went to check and it was gone so obviously stolen, I gave evri feedback to say because my parcel was left outside it had been stolen, bare in mind I was in all day and they couldn't be bothered to knock on my door(I also have dogs who would of barked had they of knocked) contacted temu right away to let them know what had happened yet they refuse to listen or help let alone take responsibility for the stolen parcel. I have been on the temu chat daily for over a week trying to get it sorted also emailed them countless times yet they keep fobbing me off saying as evri says its been delivered they can't offer me a refund. I have told them a picture of the parcel sat outside my door is not proof of delivery and as they are the merchant and my contract is with them its there duty to sort this out but as of yet they are refusing. Why should I pay for goods not received? I have also stated to them that I never gave evri instructions to leave parcels outside my house, I have told evri before to always knock on my door as I live in a dodgy neighbourhood. I'm now at my wits end as no one is helping me solve this issue. I have been lied to with two agents mentioning a refund then get emails saying the same copy and pasted replied emails saying the same, after our extensive investigation the goods were delivered therefore we regret you wont be getting a refund or reshipment. No matter how many times I tell them I never got it because evri left it outside because they never knocked and it was stolen Temu still wont listen or take responsibility for it, no matter how many times I tell them a photo of it dumped outside my house isn't proof of delivery they still wont help or refund me, so I am now £48.19 out of pocket for that first missing parcel. Heres an extra kicker, despite me telling evri about the missing first parcel they did the same with parcel two, left it outside my house without even knocking on my door. Thankfully that parcel hadn't been stolen yet when I checked but its still pretty disgusting that temu aren't refunding me for the first stolen parcel. I am now going to write to Temu head office in Dublin(as sadly there is no phone number) explaining the situation and will be given them all the customer service agents names who have fobbed me off for over a week without helping me, and also will contact Trading standards as its Temus responsibility to make sure items I've paid for arrive. I feel frustrated deflated and angry at the treatment given by Temu customer services and certainly will never shop with them again. The reviews here for temu aren't mostly good either so that should tell you something. Avoid this company

You get what you pay for
June 6, 2024

Whether you should buy from Temu depends on how much money you want to risk.
Let's start with the positives. Temu is very appealing as the prices are affordable, and there are products you didn't know existed until you saw them on the website and thought that is handy and I could do with one of them, or that makes a great gift. Once you have made your purchase, you have a period when you can buy more items to ship together. They made it convenient for customers to make impulse purchases. You likely end up spending more than you intend to. On the flip side, you can cancel items you decided you don't want to buy and get a refund before they process the order.
In my experience, their shipping process is excellent. They keep you up to date with each stage of the delivery via email. They give a week to deliver the package with another few days as a contingency, which isn't bad given it's sent from overseas. If delivered after the last delivery date provided, they will give you a $5 credit. To date, they have always delivered within the timeframe.
Once you have received the package, you have 30 days to apply for a price adjustment for any products selling for less than when you bought it. This is a huge benefit that other online retailers don't offer, so kudo to Temu.
Here are the negatives, and they will make you think twice before buying from Temu. Temu offers 90 free returns for one return per order. However, the return process can be tedious. If they request you to return the product, you will have to get the items sent back so Temu can inspect the product before they issue a refund. You have repacked the returned items and taken them to the courier depot to send them off. Then you have to wait for them to inspect the quality before issuing the refund. (There is only one Aramex depot where I live. Their opening hours are the same as my work hours and are about half an hour's drive, so it's a problem when I have to return something. It would be more convenient if they used NZ Post as they have more accessible stores, and you can arrange for pick-up of parcel online if you have a courier ticket number. It is a far better option).

You will notice that "quality issues" are not listed as a reason for returning the goods. Temu claims they "implement strict policies and control measures to ensure product quality and accurate product descriptions". There have been numerous products I and other people I know had to return/donate/throw away due to poor quality. We are not talking about hidden quality problems. These are quality issues that are easily detected by looking at the item. Such as garments with loose uncut threads or unfinished stitching, with no size tag or care instructions, products with jagged or unsightly finish etc. Essentially, substandard workmanship. Evidently, Temu does not utilise any measure to check quality before sending the package. It's just a generic response from Temu whenever customers complain about a quality issue. Unless Temu clearly states its policies/measures on its website to provide transparent quality assurance. More importantly, back it up with a free exchange policy. Otherwise, it's just another marketing motto.
I requested a refund once and uploaded photos showing the quality issue with the item, but Temu still requested the return of the pants for quality inspection. I donated them as it was not worth the half an hour's drive to the depot.
I bought garments that were too large and repurchased the next size down. After receiving the supposedly smaller size, it turns out that the garment is the same size with a different size tag sewn on it. Strangely, the item has an 80% true-to-size rating. Worse still, I have received garments that have no size tags. I have bought a two-piece pack, they were scrunched into a bag, and they didn't bother to zip the bag close. They were supposed to be the same size in the pack, but one of them is a size larger.
Try not to fall for their shameless promotional tactics. I received a 100% back coupon bundle from Temu. I was skeptical, but I selected a product worth more than the required amount for free shipping but within the capped amount of the promotion. I was pleasantly surprised that I got to the checkout stage with zero dollars owed. Then came the rude awakening when it requested my credit card details to finalise the sale. Why do they need the credit card details when the payment is zero? It would be ludicrous for Temu to purposefully complicate the process by making you pay first and then refund the same amount. Periodically, Temu will have these promotions where you get free items if you get your friends to sign up, but there are too many hoops to jump through before you get anything, so don't bother.
The free shipping required amount has doubled within less than a year, cited "Temu has free shipping thresholds only on orders shipped by Temu. These thresholds allow us to offer a wider range of items, including smaller and more convenient sizes, as well as prioritize environmentally friendly shipping methods." But yet, they allow suppliers selling 100pcs of disposable plastic food seals for just over $1 or 500pc for just over $4 WHAT A BUNCH OF HYPOCRITES! The damage to the environment is unimaginable for these types of products! It is a revenue generating tactic disguised as an environmentally friendly policy, with the sole purpose of making customers buy more to be entitled to free shipping. A despicable and greedy strategy! Not responsible and ethical company who truly cares about the environment will be selling disposable plastic of any kind!
Everything you buy is packed in one plastic courier bag. There is no extra protection for fragile items. There have been times when I have had to return the item because the box got crushed and the item inside got damaged during transit.
The biggest drawback of buying from Temu is that there is no exchange policy. Shein has an exchange policy, so when I buy a size too large, I can send it back and get the correct size sent to me for free. The process is easy and painless as it's done online and arranged for NZ Post to pick up. Whereas Temu's procedure is to provide a free return, and you need to repurchase the correct size,(there is a chance that the price might be higher than at the time of your first purchase). Additionally, you need to spend the required amount for free shipping. I bought a pair of pants which was a size too big, so I gave it to my friend and bought a smaller size.(I had to buy other stuff to get the free shipping) Unfortunately, while the size was right, the quality was poor, with unfinished stitching around the elastic waistband and the hems of one of the legs.
Temu needs to have an exchange policy, allowing free exchange for all products. There should definitely be a free exchange option for quality issue products/items and resent to customers for free. (without the need to meet the free shipping threshold).
Temu - please don't reply by telling me about your return procedure or to contact customer service. I've explained the reason why the return procedure poses problems.

Tip for consumers:

Think about whether you have a use for the item and not just buy it because it's cheap. Do take your time to read the reviews, especially the reviews that gave it low ratings. If you are buying something as a gift, have a backup plan.
Please don't buy products that are harmful to the environment. Such as disposable plastic. Thank you.

Horrible customer service and robbing people
March 10, 2024

EVRI ACKNOWLEDGED TEMU COURIER MANAGER ABOUT OUTCOME OF LOST PARCEL AND HERE IS A RESPONSE:

Update on your claim **************
Dear Mehreen,
Thank you for your reply regarding parcel reference H*******6800.
I'm sorry to hear your parcel still hasn't been located. I would advise that you contact the shipper as they will be able to discuss a potential replacement or refund with you directly. I will inform the courier's manager of this outcome.
I'm sorry for the inconvenience regarding your parcel delivery.
Kind regards,
Evri Customer Services

————-

I must express my utter disappointment with Temu's customer service, which has proven to be nothing short of a nightmare. Despite escalating my case to the courier manager, there has been a shocking lack of action, leaving me without a refund or a replacement for my order.

It is abundantly clear that Temu is more interested in robbing customers than providing a satisfactory service. Every attempt to resolve the issue has fallen on deaf ears, with no willingness to acknowledge their mistakes or rectify the situation.

This experience has not only soured my opinion of Temu but also serves as a warning to others considering their services. The blatant disregard for customer satisfaction and the refusal to address valid concerns demonstrate a company that prioritizes profit over its customers.

Save yourself the frustration and potential loss – steer clear of Temu and their appalling customer service. Your hard-earned money deserves better treatment than what this company is willing to offer.

Consider this a cautionary tale for anyone contemplating doing business with Temu.

Slow to answer "specific questions"
January 6, 2024

I have asked several questions, both sellers and TEMU employees are SLOW to answer, not spot on or direct. "Shipping" info is vague. The date says as example: "to be delivered on Dec 29th 2023 by 10pm". It turns out the parcel hasn't even left the facility and "label hasn't been created" at UPS? 5$ credit if delivered after a certain date? I prefer $15 if you can't technically deliver on the time offered. 5 dollars doesn't do much for me. I like the items featured such as glasses, readers, bifocals, sound mixers, USB, TARPS, cheap suits. The website itself is mostly very good and picture descriptions come up quickly (unlike Amazon) by hovering over them with PC mouse. MOST IMPORTANT INFO or DETAILS aren't given. "Wishlist" button is described as "SAVE". I asked SELLER whether their "sunglasses" were POLARIZED? Seller comes back with "they have UV protection". UV protection is NOT the same as POLARIZED. The answer was not specifically answered. Seller then leaves message that says: "To better assist you with your concern, we need to verify the relevant information regarding the item. Please give me a moment to escalate your request! :)" This message was left days ago and nobody has replied since? All answers whether it be "seller or CHAT" we're given very slow with daft answers or non-specific. This means you wait and wait and then recieve an answer that isn't even specifically the "answer"? I'm almost afraid to ask CHAT more questions because of the wasted time it will take to receive more "non-specific answers"? There's a rule that you receive "only one refund"? Does this apply to the item specifically or your entire order or all items ordered from TEMU from there on? My first order on TEMU hasn't been received yet. If you're having "eye issues", this site will wreck them with feints and deception. Customer service will waste your time.

It's all an experiment

Untrustworthy app, user beware
January 3, 2024

Temu's discount offers are deceptive. They bombard you with daily gifts & how you've won emails, but it's worthless as their x% off doesn't mean you get actual % off the total amount of your order, but you get a pathetic amount of 0.01 cents credit. (oh yeah, they wouldn't give you a cent).
Their promotion of free gifts is just a spam exercise to get you to do their dirty work of recruiting new users. Their recent hat trick promotion is rigged. You spent time choosing the items you wanted before they revealed that you have to earn "energy points" by referring your friends to join and download the app before you can receive the free items. However, you are always 1 to 2 points out of reach from being qualified to get the items you selected. Their customer support will insist it's a legitimate promotion. The website will continue advertising how many people have won their free items. They apologize for the dissatisfaction with the promotion's goal of recruiting new users to download the app on their behalf & repeating company slogans about the importance of customer experience to Temu. While the customer service team is polite and friendly, they don't have the power to resolve your complaint. The fundamental problem lies with the department that designs and implements the promotions. It is their responsibility to make things right for the customers. But they don't and I doubt that ever will.
I would have been inclined to recommend them to my friends had they kept it truthful and straightforward. X% means X% off your order, not just meaningless credit. The number of items I spun for free should be the number of items I am entitled to. To find out you have to earn energy points to 'win' the 'free' items after you have spent time selecting them is irritating. However, Temu chose to make people jump through hoops and require them to spam and persuade their friends for a few free items. They had a chance to make this a successful promotion. Instead, I became annoyed with their horrendous promotional tactics.
They always send emails about how they have a gift waiting for you, but the catch is that you will only get it via the app. It is very suspicious that they implement so many gimmicks to entice people to download the app on their phones.
More concerningly, I caught the Temu app updating without my permission in the background. I disconnected the Wifi and uninstalled the app immediately.
I have warned my friends and family to avoid this deceptive app if they value their privacy and keeping their phone free of malware!

Tip for consumers:

I would not recommend downloading their app as it updates without your knowledge or permission. Their free shipping has a minimum spending amount, like everything else they advertise, nothing is actually "FREE", there is always a catch.
