Just found this website as I was sifting through all of the recent new spam sites. Feels like finding a diamond among all of the rocks. This site really is quite the discovery. I really like this idea and it would make a good xmas gift for anyone who cooks. My idea is to take all of my mom's recipes that she keeps on index cards and convert them into a book as her present.
I can't even give them a 1 star rating, this is so wrong that they deleted the recipe database. Hours, months and years of working on my recipe books just gone? Does anyone know if a lawsuit has been filed against them?
Tastebook has given me the worst customer service experience ever. I received a print order of a collection of recipes that had one recipe printed in the wrong category. I found that I had placed the recipe in the correct category, but their website put it in another. I asked for a reprint of four recipes - a grand total charge of $1.20 - to correct the problem. They refuse to do so, claiming that it is user error. I have proved to them, and provided screenshots, that their website caused the problem and still they will not credit my account. Their reps have been short and accusatory with me every step of the way.
I've had problems crop up with other companies. I've asked for corrections to be made and when it is clearly the company's error, they have immediately (and respectfully) solved the problem. I had Macy's tell me "we're not going to lose a customer over a $20 soup bowl"; I just had a loan company remove a $1700 interest charge without a single word of protest - but Tastebook refuses to credit a long-standing customer with $1.20 in recipe credits. Makes you wonder where their priorities lie. But I know where mine do - and I'm shopping around for a new recipe site.
Their website is not user friendly. I made individual cookbooks for each family member. Each cookbook was personalized with photos for each person. When the person went back to update their cookbook the pictures were all from the very last cookbook even though the cookbook was saved under each individual. I was told this couldn't be done - impossible. This should a very simple. When I tell others about that can't believe it especially with today's knowledge. Their customer service was very rude and honestly very dumb. I am so discouraged after I put hours and hours into these projects. Very a different website - please.
An online magazine for today's home cook, reporting from the front lines of dinner.
