CBD products sold without instructions or testing information or where the cannabis is from
October 16, 2022

So, you buy CBD products which are BLOODY expensive, they give no information for safe usage. They have very cursory information on their CBD creme in 2 point font on their silver dollar size bottle and when asking for a print out of their product use, send you to a WRONG URL link that has nothing to do with usage instructions or warnings. When asking about Testing for CBD which is a "normal" request, they send you to a generic vague testing site that doesn't not correlate with your bottle. I guess they don't understand safety of use of this product, or why you would actually need testing information on Cannabis. This is just another way for them to make "money" without protecting their clients. Did you know that there are roughly 52 various drug interactions with CBD oil, due to antagonist enzyme 450 That can do serious harm to your liver? For a quick example of this, please look up: clinicaltrials.gov NCT*******. This is the quick gist of the study quoted: "Evidence from the few systematic clinical studies that have been conducted suggests that THC and CBD can inhibit metabolism of other drugs, via interactions with cytochrome P450 (CYP) enzymes, a large family of enzymes involved in the metabolism of numerous drugs (through the liver) and foreign chemicals in the body." And was found that prednisone or other steroids are potentiated and prolonged by all cannabis ingestion. This means that if you are taking certain drugs it could affect your liver significantly if you use cannabis, so why would they send this email to me that makes them look foolish?

This is the email: Hello Mary,

"Thank you for contacting us regarding your question. This product information is listed on our website. I have also attached a copy of that information for you. The directions for the product are simply apply to skin as needed.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us! Please enjoy the rest of your day!

Take care!"

The link to sent by their URL information attaches to SOMEONE ELSE'S order, not ours. So I am not including it here, since I think that having privacy matters. For some reason, attaching it not to our order but to an $800 order of someone else isn't a problem for them, it is for me. This response does nothing to answer my questions regarding of the product or how to use it. The general information on the website basically gives an "overview of CBD oil and its affect. Which says nothing about their product (which hemp is federally tracked with numbers, btw), their lab reports regarding safe oil from contaminates, and certainly the email states: "Use wherever needed", does nothing regarding patients who may end up with an additional problem as I stated with cross drug interaction, even with topical use, according to Harvard University. Edu and my local pharmacists. Use like hand lotion? Geez. This picture shows the FONT larger than it is on the container, and can be read, but the back is not included in the photo and that would be all that would be necessary: all sides of the jar. We will not be buying this from them again for obvious safety reasons. I will be calling them to report this gaff.

Horrible shipping rules and poor reliability! Great prices on xclent products
December 4, 2015

'Have been ordering from this company for years. They routinely sell name-brand products at huge discounts + their house brand. They often run coupon specials which will reduce prices further. Thirty-five to fifty percent off brick-and-mortar health food store prices for the same exact product is not unusual.

Unfortunately, Swanson's level of service has completely tanked due to one or more bad apples at the management level that don't have a clue about customer needs. RESULT: unreliable delivery and overall unhappy customer experience.

Every time they have a big promo such as they did for cyber Monday, their WEBSITE AND PHONE LINES CRASH OUT. Instead of upgrading their hardware, they are apparently content to let the customer suffer. This is a recurring issue, so MANAGEMENT HAS to be aware. I wonder is Mr. Swanson himself aware?! Does he CARE?

'Nother thing: It took them THREE DAYS to get my order to the carrier! Previously, it's been a day at the most for in-stock items. And THAT after I paid for the entirely USELESS "premium plus" handling.

Another issue that wrecks their customer service is about a year ago, in order to save a few dollars, they employed so-called no-choice "combined shipping" with no easy opt-out for customers. They will give the package to UPS or FedEx, who then transfers to USPS. Worst part of this is it adds many DAYS to delivery time, which is especially obnoxious in the summer heat. "LET THE VITAMINS COOK IN THE SUMMER HEAT to save a few dollars. SUGGESTION: Maybe it would make more better sense to back off a little on the promo percentages or raise prices a hair INSTEAD OF wrecking the entire customer experience which includes customers receiving baked vitamins.

Customer cannot specify shipping method UNLESS s/he pays, e. G, for 2nd day air svc. OR calls in rather than places the order online. This makes it difficult to impossible for customers who do NOT want US mail going to their street address.

Overall, this company has a lot of good, decent employees. There are ONE OR MORE BAD APPLES IN MANAGEMENT THAT CAME UP WITH THESE IDIOTIC, CUSTOMER-UNFRIENDLY RULES THAT WRECK THE BUYING EXPERIENCE. I hope Mr. Swanson fires these yahoos (or trades their job with the janitor?) and puts someone else in the key positions who ACTUALLY UNDERSTAND AND VALUE customer good will. There would be a good pool of replacements at the telephone customer service department; the staff there are mostly courteous and often even sympathetic.

Another thing that would really help is to OPEN A PUBLIC FEEDBACK SYSTEM right on their website the way ebay and amazon have and the way Swanson already has for all its products. That would bring about a reversal of these poor company decisions--virtually OVERNIGHT.

Tip for consumers:

As with every company that has a serious problem, get the name of the person you talk to every time, and call your order in and get a firm commitment that they will NOT send it by "combined shipping", no matter the extra cost--which in idiotic actual fact is usually only a dollar or two extra.

DO NOT GIVE THIS COMPANY YOUR CREDIT OR DEBIT CARD!
July 20, 2015

They have gone into my acct. And debited unauthorized amounts and I learn my lesson! Do not trust these people and the customer service are like robots, repeating "I'm sorry I will do my best to help you, but I can't promise anything". They showed and Invoice for $2562. 19 and my account was debited for that PLUS twice $187 and $162, then credited then charged again! And what is scary I don't see the other charges or credits that happened before this, it's like they were able to go in and do whatever they wanted and know that THEY STILL HAVE THE PRODUCT THEY ARE TELLING ME THEY'LL SEE WHEN THEY CAN CREDIT ME BACK! And if you look, all those charge still don't amount to what the invoice was $2,562! This amounts at over $2800 dollars!
This is horrible! And nothing I can do! I still got attitude because I ask to speak to a manager CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS!

Canadian Shipping and CSR: Think twice before ordering
March 7, 2015

I am based in Canada and order for delivery here.

Putting things in perspective to give honest assessment:

(1) The link below says, estimated delivery in 3-10 business days (Landmark Global Canadian delivery option). The company does not start counting these days until order has left their warehouse

Catch here is: Found them taking 2-5 days for shipments after the date of orders. So goods arrive past this period. For my recent order (Placed on February 16th, 2015), I am still waiting for the delivery. So far 12 business days have passed from the date of shipment (21 calender days)

Link (referred above):
https://www.swansonvitamins.com/help/international-information/top-searched-countries/canada.html

(2) This period of 3-10 business days includes time taken for customs. (As confirmed by CSR: Molly B. During online chat on March 4,2015 between 10:50am and 11:15am (EST)

In my case, customs took 2 business days for the clearance, so standard excuse of "delays in customs clearance does not apply.

(3) Personal experience on shipping: I have ordered over 15 parcels over the last 3 years (might have accounted for over $3000 purchase), in almost all cases after ordering, the shipment has happened after 2-5 business days. Usual response of CSR due to high volumes of orders, there is delay in shipment, we are sorry.

Guys, hire more people instead of standard excuses?
How does your apology solve any health problem?

(4)
Now, if ordered, and there is delay in shipment after ordering. The company policy is: Order can not be cancelled if the order processing has started So you get stuck!

Solution: Call up their CSR, who if kind enough can take you out of this mess and might cancel the order.

If it does not work, dispute the payment with credit card company and cancel the payment.

(5) If order has passed 3-10 business days limit, then as per the policy of the company, the customer must wait 15 business days to receive refunds/replace the package by sending another parcel. So in such cases, after adding there is further time-lag to receive the shipment. So minimum 20 business days (or maybe over 26 calender days if count 2 days of weekends). And remember that this is from the day of shipmen.
So hopefully in a month such orders might be received!

(6)
So what should a customer do if such goods are not received on time and have passed 3-10 business days from the date of shipment.

The solution I found, dispute the payment and cancel the payment from your credit card company; instead of dealing with their hopeless customer service.

(7)
Now, god forbid if you have to deal with their CSR.

If calling them, there is no record of that conversation. If chatting, (based on personal experience), if there is serious complaint and try to resolve that matter, less probability to receive the copy of that chat by email (their default option is to send the transcript of the chat by email), maybe the CSR does some magic!

(8) If email them, then absolute useless responses:
From my recent interaction:
My email (Dated March 3,2015 EST): "I have checked in your online tracking system of both service providers (which are Landmark and Canada Post), then called up Canada Post, the order status has not been updated for the last many days. Could you please investigate so I receive my order as it it urgent.

CSR response (responded on March 4,2015 by Courtney B., Email Specialist): We are sorry. You could check the tracking status at Canadapost.ca. We advise you to have patience.

Guys:
Did you read the email?
How the hell patience would solve the health problem?

Perhaps you should also go through the same problem to have the right experience.

(9)
Follow up email:
My email (March 6,2015): the order status has not been updated. These products are urgent due to my health issue, could you please investigate or reship the goods;

CSR response (March 7,2015 by Kellie B., Email Specialist): We are sorry. If you do not receive your goods by March 12,2015, then contact us for further assistance. Also, can you verify your address with us?

Now, I pray that you have similar health issues so that you learn to deal with the real issue rather than doing smart talk.

Verify your address: Guys, how many orders have you shipped so far and for how many years? You can not do this earlier?
Long-live smart talk!

So after pleading and waiting for 21 calender days, the order status has changed (so that gives everyone the solution that one should wait to be harassed by their CSR, and if you are alive by that time due to them being sorry/having patience, then perhaps order status change would be granted to you.

In my case, unfortunately it is a weekend, so might have to wait another 2-3 days!

(10) Found other options:
(a) eVitamins.com
(b) iHerb.com
(c) VitaminLife.com
(d) LuckyVitamin.com
(e) Vitacost.com

Canadians beware, 12-months refund option only applies to the orders within the US.

Pardon my grammar and spelling mistakes if any.

May 5, 2013

A few months ago I suffered dioxin poisoning from a health food supplement I bought from Swanson Health Products (SwansonVitamins.com): Super DPA Fish Oil for Omega-3 oils which are supposed to strengthen the heart. But my symptoms were constant heart palpitations and physical weakness, which didn't stop until I stopped taking that Super DPA Fish Oil (which I took for a total of 2-1/2 months). Then it turned into intermittent heart palpitations whenever I became anxious about something. The Swanson product which was supposed to strengthen my heart was actually very slowly leading me into a heart attack!
Before I bought this I had known that the source of the oil was Menhaden fish from fish traps set off the coast of Delaware and New Jersey and was potentially contaminated with mercury as well as all kinds of industrial waste, but the manufacturer's Research & Development Manager, interviewed in the Swanson catalog, claimed that the oil was purified by molecular distillation. And I foolishly believed him.
After I stopped taking the fish oil, I did a lot of research and found very convincing evidence that I was poisoned by dioxin (found in Agent Orange used during the Vietnam War). And dioxin is known to produce heart attacks as well as cancer.
I grew up in New Jersey and I know how industrialized and polluted it is, and research has shown that the highest concentrations of dioxins (and their cousins PCBs) are along the coast of highly industrialized population centers from New York to Massachusetts, and New Jersey is the next state south of New York.
Dioxin is stored in the fatty tissues of animals and fish, so the Menhaden fish would have the highest concentration in its oil: the Super DPA Oil.
So after I stopped taking the Super DPA Oil, and found out what poison I was dealing with, I started detoxing with Modified Citrus Pectin, Pectasol, cilantro herb, acetyl l-Carnitine, Intestinal Bulking Agent (psyllium seed husk powder), and lemon juice. My progress was very slow, but now, 6 weeks later, I can actually face a stressful situation without my anxiety throwing my heart into debilitating palpitations. I can live without the threat of sudden death. For a 79-year-old geezer, this is pretty good.
I don't know why I kept buying from that guy; he sells so many mercury-contaminated products. Either he's so ignorant he doesn't know that both the Pacific and Atlantic are contaminated with mercury, or else he's so greedy he doesn't care.
I will never again buy anything from Swanson Vitamins.
