I had booked a reservation for a 1 bedroom cabin for the week of Valentines. I booked first online and then my fiance called to add one more night and paid the balance in full during that call. When we arrived today after our 2 hour drive, we were immediately turned away because I presented a card that they considered a prepaid card. It is a debit card that I acquired from a bank account that I set up online, and an account that I have held for over 2 years and an account where I have my paychecks deposited once every week. They said I had to give them $200 for a deposit, which I did not have. I did not plan to have this extra deposit as I was not told by anyone that I had to have such a deposit. They said I was considered a cash customer. My fiance then asked to speak to a manager, and she spoke with him and said there was nothing he can do. She then asked to speak to a manager above him and she told her the same, and was also rude and talked down to her as if we were poor because we did not have this extra money for the deposit. There were 3 girls at the counter and one of the girls asked what they were going to do and they all started whispering. We had planned this as a Valentines getaway, and my fiance and I were sorely disappointed. If it was such a big deal, why are the staff not trained to let the customer know that a prepaid card does not suffice for booking the cabin? My receipt said $0 due at check in, and that is what we expected. They refunded our money, but it will not be back on my card for days, leaving us to spend Valentines at home, and ruin all of our plans.
