When there is a question or problem you get routed to a non speaking, non comprehending person. If you continue you wind up wasting your time and having to repeat what you are calling about or put on hold while an answer is found. At that point asking for a supervisor is another option... but not much better.
The on line system to order and explore wines looks like it was put together by a first year student. No cohesiveness and sometimes different information.
Selection of wine has also gone down hill. Their"return" no hassle policy is anything but. Corks that will not come out of the bottle and many others dry and hard to extract. Not a sign of a quality wine.
Was given a small credit ($30) for wines that would not open only to find out you can't use is on your membership subscriptions but have to order additional product. This company sells itself as the best, most popular. NOT
This review process is even painfull
All that were not compromised
I'm really confused and suspicious of all the negative ratings for Splash Wines. I ordered my first case of wine in November of 2018 and have been a "member" every since. I signed up for the free shipping for life at a reasonable cost. Over the years, I have purchased more than 20 cases of wine from Splash wines.
I'm not sure what people expect for a $5 or $6 wine. If you pay $5, you can't expect a $50 bottle of wine. I have found almost all of the wines to be quite drinkable. About as good as you get for an $8 glass in a restaurant. And as for the people who complain of screw tops. Why pay an extra $1 per bottle for a "cork" which in many cases now days isn't even made of cork. It's plastic or simulated cork, so no better than a screw top.
I've never had a problem with a slow shipment, though when the virus first started, more people were buying online so things got slower. Then Splash Wines opened a second distribution center. If people have had a problem with shipping or communication, I can't say that in the past two years I have experienced anything like that.
Also, customer service has been great for me. I've really not have had to contact them often, and when I do, it's by email. I actually did have a bottle that was so bad we couldn't drink it. I had another of the same kind and it also was very bad. I wasn't sure if it had gone bad or was just a terrible wine. I contacted customer service and they gave me "Splash Cash" value on my next order for the two bottles. No questions asked. I didn't ask for a cash refund since I knew that I would order again.
Another time UPS let some of the wines freeze so hard the corks popped out and the wines leaked (I live in Minnesota and it can get very cold here). They sent a replacement case even though I told them that only a few bottles were affected.
I suppose things can get uneven from time to time. But I really am surprised that most of the comments on this site are negative for Splash Wines when they are mostly positive on other sites.
Finally, I get regular email updates directly from Splash Wines regarding what's being offered. I have never received a third-party solication regarding Splash Wines, but maybe that's because I am very particular in unsubscribing to any unsolicited email so as to limit spam.
As a regular red wine drinker who can't drink several $40 bottles a month, I highly recommend Splash Wines. I wish they were paying me for this review, but I am writing it just to help them out since I want them to keep doing what they are doing.
